Breakfast options were better than I expected: yogurt, cereal, bagels, muffins, cream cheese, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, hot beverages & juice. The breakfast area was nicely decorated, and the chairs and tables were clean & comfy. It's obvious the owners have tried hard to provide a nice experience. They actually use metal keys, a throwback to simpler times. Minus: The toilet seat was worn, paint had given way to the wood underneath, however the rest of the place is in good shape and I would stay here again.

The tour was about 1.3 hours long, and you'll need to climb and descend stairs and squeeze into small spaces. If any of that sounds like a challenge, it might not be the right fit for you. Our tour guide was "BRAD," and he was amazing! He's practically "been there, done that." He grew up exploring these tunnels with his friends and has all sorts of stories to share. You'll learn a lot about the history and some simple sayings that will make you laugh and give you a deeper understanding. For example, there's a "Shoot" of whiskey! From the outside, you have no idea how huge this place is, and we only get to see a small part. Don't miss out if you get the chance. We decided to try something different and immerse ourselves in the downtown Pendelton area for the evening and we sure are glad we did. Jack was very warm and welcoming, just what we needed after a long boring drive. The house was beautiful, our room quite lovely ( I was bummed we couldn't use the private balcony at this time, but the reason is very admirable--baby birds have been born there and they don't want to scare away the momma bird). Jack recommended the Flying X Speakeasy down the road, which ironically we had already planned to go to. I'm impressed with how the downtown Pendelton business owners build each other up and speak so highly of each other. Everyone we talked to knew Jack and spoke highly of him, just as Jack spoke highly of them. Breakfast was delightful with scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and avocado toast, served with great conversation. It was hard to leave after such a great experience here. Thank you, Jack!

After checkout: I left a watch in the room and the staff took great pains to get it back to me in spite of our transient road trip thing. In fact, it was one of the early ski areas that allowed snowboarding. I wouldn't make a road trip to ski here but if you find yourself in the NE part of Oregon than stop by to check out a quaint little ski hill.

The lodge was cozy and the people were nice. The runs are equally shared and there was never a long wait for the lift. I give the resort a 4 star review because although it's no Mt. Hood or Anthony Lakes Ski resort it is truly a nice find and easy to get to. I would recommend this resort to any families that have different levels of difficulty or experience. It is easier to stay grouped up and safe.
