The Wilderness Inn - Breakfast area

Wilderness Inn is a fairly affordable option for staying in the Wallowa area…read more - Decent, clean rooms. No complaints. - Ice/vending machines weirdly located down a flight of stairs in the basement. - Good location in Enterprise. The more popular tourist town of Joseph is only a few miles down the road, so this place works well. - Weak breakfast layout. One day, it was so late to open we went elsewhere, and there aren't many options in Enterprise for breakfast. - The Mexican restaurant next door is pretty good.

When I checked in, there was an empty bottle of 'Tito's Handmade Vodka' in the drawer with the Gideon's Bible. They also have not emptied the trash in the room for 2 days, so I emptied it myself into the trashcan in the parking lot. Looks like they don't do the rooms every day, but nobody told me that when I checked in. - pretty noisy motel...didn't have anyone next to me the first couple of days, now I have folks clomping around above me and getting drunk in the room next to me...and it seems I get to hear everything - this is the first hotel/motel I've been in that doesn't have phones in the rooms - the 'free' breakfast is nothing to write home about. The morning I checked they didn't even have coffee out. Can't call it breakfast without coffee. Don't even have the big pot of oatmeal, just a decanter of hot water and instant oatmeal packets. Would I stay here again? Only if there aren't any better options.

Wow, So we had just driven from the Bay Area California…read moreSTRAIGHT through to Enterprise (overall almost 20 HOURS!) and we were BEAT! We saw online about this place and really weren't expecting TOO much. Boy were we surprised! Upon arrival we were greeted with GORGEOUS views of Oregon! Absolutely breathtaking! The front desk clerk Andy was really nice and welcoming. Made checking in super simple. He explained all the amenities perfectly. And got us to our room in a hurry which we loved cause we were so tired. He explained that there was no elevator which we didn't mind cause we traveled light. When we got to the room it was exactly what we needed. Everything was clean and and in great working order. Only thing is the DirectTv left a lot of channels to be desired. In the morning the continental breakfast is from 6-10. I over slept so didnt get in till 7. When I opened the warmer they were out of eggs and biscuits. I was slightly bummed but knew it was my fault so I didn't mind too much. Well the day time lady (forget her name) came out in a hurry with a HUGE good morning and noticed and immediately asked if I'd like some and made me some FRESH! I ate alot and went back to sleep. Oops over slept again! It was 10 and check out is at 11! I called down to inquire about a late checkout and the super nice clerk gave me untill 12! What great service! PROS: Great service Good continental breakfast Great value CONS: No elevator TV channels lacking

This place is on the outskirts of town and not really in walking distance of anything in 90+ degree…read moresummer heat. It's got no elevator. It's got some nice views from one side and I don't know why they would give anyone a room on the other side when vacancies are available, but they did. I have to pick a bone with motels that set their room doors up to slam. I understand that you don't want to inadvertently leave your door open but they don't have to slam. It's a room: the a/c worked, it seemed clean and was quiet except for the slamming. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable.

I said I can't drink it and opted for a margarita. Have no idea how u can screw up a margarita but it was not drinkable either. No sweetness. Just unlike any other I've ever had. Left that full as well. The charcuterie board app was great. But expensive. The other food was super mediocre. Just felt like it was middle of the line out of the freezer. Cute presentation. Very underwhelming. I can honestly say they're the most unenjoyable cocktails I've ever had. Our server acted like she couldn't care less if we were happy, or satisfied. She knew I sent the first drink back, saw the 2nd left full and didn't ask a single ? The whole experience was very lacking. Skip this place.

We ate at The Laurel, the restaurant of the Landing Hotel, on January 17. Nice decor, small number…read moreof tables consistent with the small hotel. Well done menu, small but enticing. Server was excellent, very accommodating and considerate. They specialize in craft cocktails also. I had a Wallowa Riff, a tuned up Manhattan. Best Manhattan I have ever had. We had bacon wrapped dates, steak bites, risotto and for dessert a goat cheese cheesecake. Steak cooked perfectly, as was the broccolini. I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you are anywhere near La Grande Oregon, you must stop there for dinner.
