Fried Lychee Calamari

Came here to celebrate my second year anniversary with my husband and as usual food was amazing service was impeccable. We decided to sit outside this time, a bit windy, but still nice. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent food, is not just sushi, is a wife variety of dishes. Very nice interior decor, ambiance is set for a very romantic vibe, exterior seating nearby the water. My brother has the best taste to go out and about.

Spicy crunch tuna and snow crab

Went here for sushi and was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! The ambiance is cute, and the staff was super friendly and attentive--always checking in and keeping our water glasses full. We tried the lychee caviar, which was delicious (even though it didn't taste strongly of lychee), and I ordered the spicy crunchy tuna roll and the snow crab roll both were excellent. For dessert, we had the banana egg roll, which was such a fun treat and tasted amazing. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!

Beautiful views of Manhattan. We took my family here for a nice dinner and breath taking views. The area is nicely developed. Easy parking street side. The service was wonderful. Wine selection was nice. Had calamari and spare ribs. The ribs were a bit tiny and hard, but tasty. Avocado salad was yummy. Then we went with the pineapple rice and tried the fish entrees. I was a little sensitive to the little bit of sand I felt in the scallop but it didn't impact the meal. It was tasty. The salmon dish was on the small side and a bit dry, not as thick of a cut as I normally like, especially since we were sharing. The fish fillet and tofu was our favorite. Very tasty, soft and paired nicely with the pineapple rice. For dessert we had cheesecake, applelike cobbler, mochi, and a yummy Japanese dessert rolled fried dough with banana which was a table favorite. Would definitely be back to try sushi. Great place for out of town guests.

Nice restaurant and interior decor. The sushi tasted smooth and fresh. I'd recommend it if you're in LIC.

I went to Shi Long Island City on Friday around 8:00pm ish. It was a good crowd. A lot of birthday dinners. We did not have a reservation , but was a party of two and was able to get seated rather quickly. We ordered drinks, a Summer Essence Martini and my friend ordered Titos. I enjoyed my drink. The food order was lettuce chicken wrap , cubed steak with brown rice and a California roll . The prices are reasonable $6.00 for California Roll. Ambiance was nice , the owner walked in and greeted everyone.. I was impressed , I will be back !

Crispy Noodles with seafood

We had a mini college reunion here because of the proximity to the water. The ambiance was great, but that is all. The food was ok, nothing memorable. I ordered the super punch mocktail and started with the Toro Scallion roll. For the entree, I ordered the Crispy Noodles with Seafood. My entree dish was generous, and I ate half, and I took the rest home. When I requested to take my dish to go, the waitress took my plate as I was still eating. I even stated to her to let me take my last bite. For dessert, I got the Sundae Shi, and the same waitress gave me three scoops of vanilla ice cream and asked if I wanted the liquor. I responded, of course. The liquor was supposed to be part of the sundae. The sundae cost $11 because it contained liquor. In addition, when we got there, the hostess said we had to finish by 9 - that should have been mentioned when the reservation was made. This set the tone for the dinner. We had just sat down, and the waitress asked what we wanted to drink. We had to tell her we were waiting for another friend, needed time, and requested she come back. We felt rushed to finish our meal from the beginning. We didn't care for the food, and personally, I won't be returning. I've had better food and service elsewhere.

"Crunchy Salmon" in The Gantry Special Roll 0/10
Kaylee S.

My "spicy crunchy salmon" was 80% CEREAL in the sushi roll. So disgusting and not how "crunchy" sushi is ever made. This was an attempt to not use fish... and Im a little shocked.

This was supposed to be my shrimp fried rice. It had no dark sauce and full of onions.

I placed a Togo order or shrimp friend rice n spare ribs. No onions in rice When I I got home to Baldwin Long Island, the rice had no dark sauce on it. It was all white with onions throughout the dish very disappointing. The person he had on the phone was not English speaking, and it was very difficult to communicate with her.

This is an upscale, decently crowded restaurant right opposite to Manhattan views. We enjoyed our food - flavorful and packed with good spice. My starter was a huge size and had spicy tuna + layers of pastry dough which was a good heart eat. My main course was hearty and good sized too. Service was pretty decent and we had a good dinner at Shi.

Kani salad

Another great meal @ Shi restaurant. Crispy fish with chili sauce, mango chicken with shrimp, prosciutto fried rice & Kani salads. Everything was so delicious, as was the staff.

Selfish Sushi Rolls

Food is spectacular I had the crab Rangoon 8/10 I also had the tuna crispy rice 100/10 and I have had it many places but this places takes the trophy! The Medusa roll 9/10 is surprisingly so yummy and interesting as well as the "selfish roll" 9/10and omg the steak bites !!!! INSANE service was amazing as I was seated at the bar def a must try

The restaurant is quite small, with one table that seats 4, and seating at the window. There are 2 small tables outside, as well. Be careful when you go inside because there is a step after you open the door. Packaging was convenient with the handle around the sushi box. Overall, the fish was mediocre considering the price. Some pieces were soft while others were very stringy and chewy. I am not one to dip sashimi in soy sauce because I like to just enjoy the natural flavor of raw fish with a little wasabi. However, since the fish was a bit fishy, I needed a little soy sauce to mask the taste. The wasabi was also on the mild side, so I added more than I usually would. I would have rated this place a 3/5, if I did not find a hair sitting on top of the ginger...

Food: 4.6/5 Service: 4.7/5…read moreAmbiance: 4.3/5 Value: 4.2/5 Omakase in NYC is ubiquitous now, but the high end sushi places are about as unaffordable as I've ever seen. Noz Market fits an ever diminishing niche of good quality sushi and ambiance at a somewhat decent price point. I got the $155 option which was enough to feel full. The Chase Sapphire Reserve dining credit is applicable here, which is very helpful. The service was really good. I noticed that crumbs were dealt with expeditiously and my ice water never went empty. The tuna egg yolk appetizer was decent. The ten pieces of nigiri were as follows: 1. Scallop 2. Squid 3. Golden eye snapper: kinmedai 4. Horse mackerel: aji 5. Japanese bonito: katsuo 6. Rock shrimp 7. Yellowtail: buri (Note: I've never seen this, usually see Hamachi which is less mature) 8. Bluefin Tuna: akami 9. Chu toro 10. Oh toro The uni course was Hokkaido uni. Not as unctuous as Santa Barbara, but still good. The toro taku hand roll was a good size. It was toro with pickled yellow radish. The miso soup was very savory. I feel like there was some faint mushroom taste. I ordered two supplemental prices. Sea bream (Madai) and Knife jaw (Ishidai). They taste similar but I like the texture of the latter a bit more. I'd never had this before. Hojicha green tea. Strawberry cheesecake was delicious; however, diners this night did not get matcha Mont Blanc like others wrote about, which was a slight bummer.

They offered two different option a $90 course option and a $155 course option and you choose which one you want when you first make the reservation. Highly recommend making a reservation when you come here because it did fill up on a Monday evening. The sushi chef was very professional but did not really chat with us - he made each piece and then told us what each piece was and that was pretty much the extent of the conversation. The quality of the fish was really good and the rice was nice and warm. They offer you extra items that you can order at the end and I highly recommend getting a toro or crab handroll at the end because they were both delicious. For the $155 option it does come with a Matcha Monte Blanc as a dessert which was pretty yummy and it was a nice touch since not all omakase places come with a dessert at the end. Everyone was very friendly and professional here and I do recommend checking this place out. It did not feel like they were rushing you out the door!

Chefs are distributed evenly for parties allowing for a fairly intimate setting but with efficient service. The restaurant had multiple areas set up as such. The omakase serves many typical offerings starting off with hamachi, kanpachi, shima aji, and kinmedai. They do clearly ask about rice and wasabi preference in size throughout the dinner which is quite considerate. Drink menu was fine with a number of sake options including the chefs sharing glasses throughout the meal! The fish tasted good and fresh, rice was fine though nothing memorable. Middle courses had uni, ikura and snow crab - good courses and filling. Finally we ended with the premium courses - toro caviar and a5 Wagyu with uni. I would've preferred the toro/wagyu alone and is just my personal preference that the gourmet add ons don't enhance the piece for me. Otherwise they were very good. You then have the option to order additional courses including extras off the menu. Overall sushi by m is an excellent value for the omakase course and quality of fish. The dining experience is quite hospitable towards each party and chefs are quite engaging. I would definitely recommend for casual omakase experiences!

At first glance, it almost looks like a real tank. The menu was extensive, albeit pricey. We made the mistake of not sitting at the bar for the Happy Hour specials, but it was kind of crowded. Instead we got seated. We shared calamari and a California roll, and my husband had tuna sashimi. I had a miso soup and the Wagyu fried rice. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could for the ambiance and wow factor. But what was disappointing was the Wagyu fried rice had almost microscopic bits of beef. I guess I should have expected that for only $16. Calamari was excellent. So was the soup. California rolls were okay. In total our bill was $164 which seemed like a lot considering we didn't even leave stuffed - just comfortable. I get that we were paying for the location and scenery - if we ever go back we will sit at the bar and do the happy hour deals. In all - upscale, cozy and high quality. I'm sure it attracts a lot of locals. But I'd rather go to one of the many great sushi places in Hell's Kitchen for more food, less money.
