I was trying to salvage an older gallon of paint and the employee, so sorry I don't know his name, took time to shake the can, smell it to make sure it was still good, and strained it to ensure no foreign particles remained from my old rusted can. He then put the strained paint into a new can. Benjamin Moore paint is one of my favorites. Aura and Regal Select are my "go to" depending on the project.

In August Of this year, I purchased a quart of paint for $43 dollars to do minor touch ups. The sheen was very different and very noticeable. I went into the store looking for a solution, thinking that I may have purchased the wrong finish and was told it was the same paint. I tried explaining over and over that it was not and I needed help to solve the problem. My only thought was that I would have to spend more money to have my house repainted witch cost me over $5,000. He said all he does is mix the paint. He called the manager and he told me the same thing. I have better experience with Lowes or Home Depot because they at least can color match your paint and help to come up with a solution I called Color Wheel in McLean and a nice employee explained that the paint technology changed over the last few months and that the paint would look different. I called all of the Vienna paint stores and none of them knew this nor did they try to help me. The employee at Color Wheel gave me the corporate number, and they stated that the base color was discontinued and that I would need to call around to see who had it. I finally I found a store in Florida that was able to ship it to me. I spent $45 including shopping vs paying $5000 to have my house repainted. Paying $85 per gallon is a waste of money especially if they are going to change the paint so that you cannot do touch up painting. It's not worth the headache nor is the poor customer service I received from Vienna Paint.

It's extremely sad to see what has happened to Prince William County as a whole, especially what's happened to Dale City - So many people living in the County and this area who don't care about the roots of it, nor who value community, neighbors, and family like those who actually built and grew this community - But it's great to see this place is still here!!! Pitkins is a staple of the community!! They have the parts needed for nearly any "fix" needed for a house built by Hylton, or any of the other builders in Woodbridge, Dale City, Lake Ridge, or Manassas. Their service is still very nice and the place resembles what it always has. They have specialty items, like Big Green Egg and it's a great place to come for them! I'll definitely continue to return!

Also, big shout-out to Trey (?) over in the screen door area who, by showing us the wheels on the on-site screen doors, helped me get ours working at home so we didn't need to buy a new door. Lastly, Jared was great to talk with about the store products in general. In an era of big-box stores, it's so refreshing to get this kind of personal, expert assistance. The selections were poor at best, every item except the flooring and shower tiles was either on back order or discontinued. Even the floor tile we did selected was discontinued, but we were able to secure enough for our project. The vanity we selected and ordered was delayed, so we had to look for another vendor. The new vendor vanity was delivered in less than a week. Eventually the vanity we originally ordered did come in, but not until our bathroom was complete. Lastly, the value was very reasonable, and the only complaint I had was availability of product. Next time we would wait until all my items were on site before beginning the renovation. That said, I would certainly use them again.

Beazer left me with a pint of the wall paint and a pint of the trim paint for touchups. I recently used up most of that pint of wall paint for repainting a couple of sections of wall in the living room after having the walls ripped open for a custom surround sound speaker cable run for my HD TV setup. I figured I had better get some more of this paint and hold it in reserve just in case (you never know when the manufacturer is going to discontinue a color!). I found that McCormick Paint is not available at Home Depot or Lowe's - you have to go to their own stores. Fortunately, there is one nearby in Manassas. I've gone by here once before on a Saturday afternoon - but they have limited hours on Saturdays - they close at noon. It's located on Route 28 south of Manassas - a bit just past the interchange of Route 28 and the Prince William County Parkway/Route 28 Bypass. So I made a point to get there about 11:30 am this morning. They had what I needed in stock! Picked up a gallon of their "Tempo Premium - Interior Semi Gloss Acrylic Enamel 18012 Designer White." Cost was $33 and change. Guy snagged me a gallon, rang me up, and I was on my way!
