Service - Rude & Incompetent. I have been going to the Sherwood Williams for over 20 years & never had an issue. That has changed. I asked for a gallon of my exterior yellow paint. I asked him to look it up on the computer. He told me I did not buy it at Sherwood Williams. WHAT? That's where I buy my paint. He did not know how to look up pervious orders. I told him that he was rude & did not know his job. I went home & called corporate. Corporate found the paint with in 2 minutes. Thank you Alice! I went back to the store (2nd time) and gave them the name of the Paints I needed from a different sales person. He asked me the finish of paint & I did not know. He said he needed that information. I agreed & told him to look it up on the computer. He said it was not there. OK - Give me the phone so I could call corporate to get the information - It was amazing how fast he looked it up on the computer!!! No thank you after my purchase of $350 dollars. I called to see if I could order paint for pickup. I was told they didn't,t take orders over the phone. The guy told me to come in. So, I drove over to this location. There's a sign on the door to wait to be buzzed in due to limits of number of people, distancing etc. It was 93 degrees and the guy at the desk just really didn't care despite the sign. No buzz in, no acknowledgement, nothing. I finally walk in to escape the heat. And that is a perfect example of the level of competence and service at this store. Don't waste your time coming here unless waiting forever to order, having signs posted which they ignore, not even being acknowledged after 25 minutes, not even a "be with you in a minute" Sorry, I just left without saying a word. I didn't feel like waiting for 2 hours to get a gallon of paint. There were 2 other people there ordering and It appeared I was going to be ignored for the next hour, so why bother. Took the paint chip to Benjamin Moore, found an almost identical color and they actually we're able to take the order and mix the paint in 20 minutes, less time than I was ignored at this place. read more

We bought all of interior and exterior paint from Sherwin Willians since our contractor partners with them. The paint is great and high quality. However bad point for the recycling of old paint. The person in the store did not take our old paint due to lack of space. The store was listed on the Paintcare website and every purchase of new paint includes a recycling fee. Very disappointed by Sherwin Williams. I hope the store Manager addresses this. read more

I actually like this store and even though the cost of paint is a bit more than your average home depot and Lowe's, I prefer to come here and give them my service. However, I've been somewhat dissatisfied with their service the last few calls. I called a few days ago to place an order over the phone and then was told they didn't have the base color for the paint but should arrive in the next day or two. Waited for a few days but no word from their staff if it came in so called three days later to place the same order. No assistance from the guy to place the order over the phone so I went to the store around 2pm. Unfortunately I was told the store was closed and the guy wouldn't be able to fulfill my order today... :(. Please update your hours on yelp and if I can ask, make your ordering over the phone more pleasant. read more

I've had many positive experiences with the staff and today with Kenyata was no different. He matched my sample of paint from home and went above and beyond by testing it to make sure the sample was to his satisfaction by applying a test area on the master color item. They will not up sell you either. They ask very specific question of what type of project the paint is for and recommend accordingly. You will get quality products, but the service and attention from the staff is what makes me come back. Along with the great attitude, they have a parking lot which can be hard to find in Oakland. read more

Just wanted to order paint from this store and had the color and size picked out. The staff (young male) was rude from the beginning of the phone call, told me he couldn't hear me well and just put me on hold without warning for several minutes. Then he resumed the conversation and asked me which product I want this color in. There are 22 products to choose from so I was hoping to get some guidance from the paint shop staff. But he was not willing to provide any guidance and just referred me to the website. He couldn't even help me narrow it down. "It would be great if you knew what you wanted before you called." Extremely impatient and no sense for customer service. So in this day of age customers cannot expect to obtain any advise when buying from a store? You are on your own and are just supposed to swipe your credit card? Very disappointing! The rude staff was working on 04/11 (Saturday) at 1pm and told me he was the only one, so it shouldn't be difficult to figure out who this business-damaging individual is, Sherwin-Williams! I decided to not do business there and called the store in Emeryville the same day, where a very nice older man gave me a 100% different customer experience. Especially during Covid-19, you should tell your staff to try to make people's day-to-day not worse than it already is. read more

Tim helped me find just the right paint quality and finish for my project. He was very knowledgeable and kind. He carried my purchase out to the car and secured it so I wouldn't wind up with a mess. I was impressed with his professionalism and helpful attitude. I found out that he was the assistant manager and I'm glad that sherwin Williams chooses great people to lead their stores. I can not say enough great things about my experience at this store. Manager James M. has an awesome manner and was incredibly helpful, not only in helping me pick the right palettes but in making sure that the paint was mixed to perfection. I mean what is that? All paint stores have machines that work out the pigments (Home Depot, Lowes, Kelly Moore) , but this is the first time that I felt it was spot on. Now, I've gotten superstitious and will only buy my paint from him (LoL). We are redoing our entire house, over a stretched out period of time, so I imagine that the 15 min he spent with me will pay off big for Sherman Williams over the lifetime of the work. read more

Richard went out of his way to help me understand paints types and colors with real honesty and knowledge over the multiple weeks I came in getting samples for interior colors. I ultimately bought 10 gallons of interior paint and plan on coming back for exterior and deck stain. If you go, definitely ask for Richard. read more

This was the second place I went for help with my home painting project. I needed some guidance, and had some specific questions, nothing very complicated. The person who waited on me seemed totally annoyed that he had to help me at all. He was even a bit snarky.For example, I asked if they some samples of the different finishes, and he said, "Yeah, right behind you" as if I should have known that already. On top of that, the color they sent me home with was completely wrong, and I had to go to another store on another day after two days of work trying to make the Sherwin Williams color work. We are new home owners and have a list of home renovations that we are doing on our own. We've been to this store multiple times over the past month and have been impressed by Natalie and the other SW staff. They've been friendly, honest, and extremely helpful. They don't try to up sell us on products and have been coaching us on fixing our bathroom ceiling that's peeling and needs some special paint to prevent mildew. We've been very impressed to date and love having them so close by. read more

Great business hours, free parking, tons of color chips and brochures. Unfortunately, the service is poor to awful. I ordered about 25 gallons of paint in 7 colors and three finishes: satin, semi-gloss and gloss. Any other paint store in town, including Home Depot, would have had the order completed in 24 hours, at the longest. It's been a week and my order has yet to be filled. Fortunately, I am doing my own work, but the folks at S-W didn't know this. If I had hired a painter for this job, he/she would never have been able to wait that long for the order to be ready, and I would have lost my place in their schedule. This store is going to have to improve their service or they won't last long in the East Bay; there are too many other, more competent businesses from which to choose. read more

The worst. Went there during their infrequent "sale". Only one person working in the store despite obvious increase in business during that time. Gave salesperson a list of what I wanted and said my painter would pick it up the next day. "No problem" she said. She gave me a receipt that was only for the total of my order; no breakdown as to what I was buying. Cost was almost $500 so this wasn't a small order. I insisted on a receipt with a breakdown of my purchase. The "sale" price was about the same as Benjamin Moore's regular price. My painter called the next day to say that when he picked up the paint, there was no primer included. That had been on the list that I handed to the salesperson but she left it off. Good thing I had the itemized list of my purchase or I wouldn't have known whether I'd paid for it or not. Later my painter opened the 5 gallon can of paint and discovered that the color had been added to the can but not mixed. He had to take it back to the store to get it mixed in. What kind of way is this to do business? read more
