Sherwin-Williams offers a free 30 minute color consultation over a video call. We had a color consultation prior to coming to the shop and just wanted to check out the selection. After your color consultation, they send paint chips to your home and they also email you the color palette you discussed during the consultation. We didn't have much interaction with staff, but someone greeted us when we entered the store. They have garage epoxy kits, some wood stains, spray paints, and the star of the store--the paint area on the left side of the store. They have a large selection of paint colors/paint chips. What I like about their paint section is that they have inspiration brochures and you can spin around the display to see which colors of that display are the more popular ones. Another cool thing is that you can return the paint chips into this slot so you can recycle your paint chips if you don't want them, or can't find where the paint chip belongs. Anyway, they also sell larger peel-and-stick paint colors to test out colors before committing to a color. The more you buy of the peel-and-stick, the cheaper it is, than buying only 1 or 2 pieces (you get a deal for buying either 3 or 4 at a time). Worst customer service ever! I didn't even get a chance to ask a question. I was ignored when I walked in, then the clerk welcomed in and helped two other customers who walked in after me. When I spoke up, he made excuses about where I was standing in the store. What?!! I was already in the store before the others walked in. Why would it matter where I was standing? I could almost see, "Sorry about that. I didn't see you standing there. We'll be right with you." Apparently, weird-looking bearded guy missed that day in customer service class. Although I miss seeing my colleagues in person, I have to admit that I love working from home. I feel like it's easier to get my creative work juices flowing without interruption, I can observe my son while he is doing distance learning, greet delivery drivers as they safely hand off our packages (the pandemic must suck for package thieves), and orchestrate home improvement projects. The latter is something that my wife and I have been taking advantage of. Since the pandemic hit, we have redone the landscaping in our backyard, added a hot tub, and installed recessed lighting in our living room & kitchen. Recently we have noticed that a lot of homes in our neighborhood have been repainted. Seeing as to how these homes are 27 years old, its inevitable that they would be due for a paint job. While taking a stroll around our neighborhood, my wife and I saw a home that had a paint combination that we absolutely couldn't take our eyes off of. The following day, I emailed our HOA and inquired about the home's color codes. Shortly after, I had the color codes and was on my way to Sherwin Williams to retrieve the color samples. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by an employee who was helping a customer over the phone. Another employee, Chris, emerged from the back of the store and greeted me. I provided him with the color codes, and he quickly retrieved the color samples for me (Charcoal Blue, Juneberry, Extra White). We're in the process of having our home painted and we came into Sherwin-Williams Paint Store to look at paint chip colors. As we entered the store, we were quickly greeted by a young gentleman at the counter. He was busy helping someone and we saw the paint brochures/color chips area so we headed there. ( This store is not very large ) When the young man finished, he marched right over with a smile!! He asked if he could help us and we were almost finished picking our colors. Note: We already knew our color scheme. We asked about the different paints they sold and price points. We asked about paint warranties, etc. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. We mixed color samples for our house to make sure that's what we were envisioned. Overall, a small store, but efficient. A very knowledgeable and courteous employee. Worst customer service. Originally went in and they refused to honor our store coupon that very clearly had yet to expire. We bought the paint anyway. The paint did not turn out how we thought it would so we came in to get a color change and they screwed up our beige paint making it a red. We came in a third time to try to get a quart of the original color (as we decided to just leave it and needed more for touch ups) and after being told they could give us a quart but not in the same paint type due color we picked, we agreed. The employee then told us that wouldn't work either and our only option was to by another gallon..his story changed multiple times and the customer service has been awful each time we've come in for the same project. We will never buy paint here again. If you're going to charge more than every other store in town the least you can do is deliver decent customer service. read more

This location/store sucks. I had 4 cans of unopened paint and 2 primers left over from my project. I had receipts and I was within the 30 days but the guy there wouldn't let me return it because he says I didn't buy it from his sherwin Williams store. He only took the one I did get from this store. It's 110 degrees outside and he has me haul all my paint back to my car and drive to the other location to go to the return it to that store. At the suggestion of my contractor, I brought in a paint can from Kelly-Moore that was quite old because he told me that Sherwin Williams could do a paint match. I ended up working with a gal named Monique who worked on matching the color and I was quite happy with the outcome. I appreciated her time, effort and pleasant/helpful attitude. She also helped me get the 2 new cans out to my car and stored them carefully in a box in the trunk. I also want to give a shout out to Ethan, the assistant manager who graciously extended their 30% off sale price a few days until my flooring came in so I could look at/decide upon colors. I've gone to this paint store before and the customer service is typically pretty good. Today I was incredibly disappointed. I called at 3:45pm and asked what time they closed. Gentlemen said 4:00pm. I was about 5 mins away so I stopped by. When I got there the sign on the door said curbside service only so I called at 3:53pm and asked for a gallon of paint to finish of a project. Same gentlemen on phone took my order. He came back a second time and asked for my info and paint style again. A few minutes later a red head female came out and said they are not going to have time to mix my paint and for me to come back tomorrow. I told her I was going to go to Home Depot instead and she replied "ok" like she didn't even care. First experience with SherwinWilliams. I've used Kelly Moore, Behr in the past. I looked at colors online for a year before coming into this store to order 3 samples. The young lady helping me was nice. But, upon arriving home 25 min latter, I notice of the 3 different colors I ordered, they had given me 3 cans but only 2 colors. One can was a dup, and one color was missing. Because it takes me so long to get to the store, I called and asked if they could mix up a sample/replacement of the missing color so that the missing color would be ready, to swap cans when I got there. They wouldn't do it. they said they wouLd mix it when I arrived. SMH. When I got there, the guy behind the counter said he would correct the tint and recolor the dup can. I did not want a color adjustment on a color they mixed wrong. I wanted a fresh mix of the color I ordered. Guy said if I wanted a fresh miix I'd have to pay for another can.WTF. First of all, the color tints used in the wrong mix are not present in the mix I ordered, a so it will not be an exact replica of the color I i ordered. Second, if your store messes up a can of paint, why on earth would you make a customer pay if they want the correct color they ordered? The guy could see I was mad when he asked me to pay, so he made a fresh mix and then was nice enough to offer me the extra mess up can. I refused though, I am not trying to benefit from someone's mistake. I only want what I paid for, no more and no less. I get home and asked hubbY, who is an ASE certified painter if a re-tint of the wrong color to the requested color was reasonable. He said absolutely not, there was yellow pigment in the first one that is not present in the second. If I like the colors, I will travel to a different store. I don't want to be charged if they mess up a five gallon drum and I want it mixed over. So much for first impressions. read more

This has always been one of the most helpful paint stores; however, my experience yesterday left me feeling disappointed and feeling a little taken advantage of. I came in to get a gallon of paint, and the sales associate was able to find the same paint. I asked if there were any discounts/coupons, and she said that there was a 40% coupon code through Saturday of this week. Perfect! She mixed the paint, and when she went to ring it up, the coupon didn't apply to that specific type of paint. I just feel like she should have known that prior to telling me about the coupon. At that point, the paint was already mixed and there was nothing that I could do. When I expressed my disappointment and frustration, the sales associate offered to hold the paint for me - which at that point - didn't help the fact that the paint would be the same price the next time that is was today. read more

I went here to pick up more paint, after running out. I met Charles who was super helpful and nice (and the only reason I am not giving this store 1 star or zero if I could). He instructed me to either bring the empty bucket or take a picture so that they could ensure I received an exact match. He also notified me of an upcoming sale that would save me some money. For this visit, I give this store 5 stars. I went in a few days later with a picture of the paint info needed. When I walked in, Luis (guy working behind counter that day) looked at me, and started doing something else. He didn't say hi or may I help you. My first thought was to walk out of the store, but I needed the paint and didn't feel like going anywhere else. When I walked up to the counter (only customer in the store), he says Ill be with you in a moment. Finally, he asked me what I need. I showed him the photo. He was quick to say this is not what we need, but then "oh, there it is." He, then, explains that since I purchased the paint from the SW around the corner, they may not be able to match it. At this point I'm frustrated and confused. Isn't this a Sherwin Williams? He then tells me I may want to go to the other store to make sure I get the right paint. He never looks it up in the computer or anywhere else before saying this. I decided to go to the other store, and not deal with this rudeness and laziness. I get to the other store, and am informed that they didn't have what I needed that day, but the store I'd just left had 4 of what I needed. At this point, I am pissed. For this visit, I give zero stars. I call and speak to Alana, the store manager, who did apologize. However, she stated she has never had this kind of problem out of Luis. As a customer, I don't care about his usual actions, I care that he was rude to me and wasted my time. I ended up driving from Elk Grove to the Arden Sherwin Williams, where I'd gotten awesome customer service in the past. And guess what? Received awesome service again. I am very disappointed at this Elk Grove store. I am especially disappointed after having good customer service at the first visit. I give this store a 2.5 stars. read more

I used to go to the Sherwin-Williams off Elk Grove-Florin but I came to this one because it was a bit closer. When my husband and I entered the store we were pleasantly greeted by Kent who was very helpful with our paint purchase. I already knew which colors I wanted so he showed us the actual paint chips and even recommended we take them outside to see them under the sunlight. Kent gave a great explanation of the different types of paint/glosses available and we definitely felt he wasn't just trying to sell us the most expensive product but gave us enough information to get the best bang for our buck. Great customer service (Kent even carried all our paint to our car), good variety of paint supplies and very clean store compared to the other Sherwin-Williams which is only minutes away.
