If you know me personally or have read my past Yelp reviews, you probably understand that I am constantly on the hunt for resources or materials that can act as a timesaver. While browsing an automotive detail thread on Reddit, I came across a detailer who praised the use of a foam gun to quickly wash vehicles. I have seen in the past that some individuals use a pressure washer with a foam cannon attached; however, I have had a negative experience with a pressure, so I preferred to have a foam gun that could attach to a traditional water hose. After two failed attempts with foam guns on Amazon (both foam guns required a hard to find special water hose), I decided to do a traditional Google search. My search led me to Grant's Extreme Foaming Spray Gun, which was conveniently available at the Harbor Freight store in close proximity to my home. Based on the photos provided in the near-perfect reviews, I knew that this was the one! It happened to be Labor day weekend; therefore, there was a coupon deal for the foam gun. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by an employee as I made my way to the car detail section of the store (similar to some other stores, Harbor Freight includes the Aisle number online for each in-store product). Minutes later I was at home using my new "toy" to wash my car. As a tip use a foam wash (I included a photo of Meguiar's Ultimate Snow Foam Wash that I purchased at O'Reilly's) instead of a traditional car wash solution, you will see more foam while using less solution. You only get four stars because the customer service was inconsistent. The cashier was more familiar with some people who were in line and automatically offered them the free gift that comes in the email. When I checked out, she didn't make any mention of the free gift, although I had overheard her offering the gift to a previous customer in line. She made another customer as well as myself present the coupon for the free gift. She did not, however, require other guests to present the coupon. I found what I was looking for. I purchased one of the more expensive oil extractor pumps because the store was out of the disposable version. I never used the pump, as I later found a low‑cost siphon pump from an online vendor. When I attempted to return the unused oil pump to Harbor Freight the next day, the manager on duty immediately assumed it had been used and refused to process the return. The manager, Dillon Ray, was dismissive, unwilling to listen, and flatly denied my request. I've been a loyal Harbor Freight customer for many years, but this experience will be my last visit and purchase with the company. 8/13/2022 Sent to pick up a reciprocating saw..and other misc.. Luckily I caught a worker, who showed me what items I was looking for.. I am lost in this environment (compared to a grocery store)... When I got to the section of the free blue tarps, another customer stated there was the magnetic strip for free... So all of us in the area proceeded to aisle 4.. Kind of fun! In the end I ended up with joining the membership.. and the extended warranty.. This is definitely a Tim Allen Tool Time neighborhood! Oops... I didn't get extra blades... so I'll have to come back!!! 8/14/2022 update: So after charging up the battery, I unboxed the reciprocating saw to use.. It's a gorgeous little tool that can do so much! Surprise to me, I could not find the "blade included".. Drove back to the store, and the friendly employee pulled e wry thing out of the box and there it fell! Quick, easy, convenient and cheap! That pretty much sums up my review of Harbor Freight Elk Grove. Lol We were filling a storage unit down the road and went to put the lock on... oops. Didn't fit! 20 minutes to spare before we were locked in and would have to call the fire department. Lucky for us Harbor Freight was half a block down the road. I asked for location of locks, they directed me to isle 5. The one I needed was on sale for $5, score. No lines when we checked out, and they even opened the packaging for me before I left so I didn't have to struggle with it without the right tools to get it open. The staff was friendly, and helpful and we were in and out within 5 minutes. Shout out to Harbor Freight Elk Grove for saving the day. read more

Employees are always friendly and greet customers coming in the store. Inside track club members are always thanked for being members while checking out. Employees always offer assistance loading vehicle for large items and assisting with large returns. Other harbor freights don't seem to have this quality of employee friendliness. read more

Harbor Freight Tools is not a high end, professional tool company. However, I know many professionals that run to Harbor Freight when they need a specific tool that may not be common or they simply forgot the tool or tools they needed. They know they can most likely find it at Harbor Freight. Myself included. The prices are beyond reasonable and I've never had a tool break that I purchased from them. The customer service has always been so welcoming and kind. Always a good experience. They are always willing to help and you don't have to go far if you need help. I always enjoy browsing at Harbor Freight. They have a large selection of tools, hardware and gadgets for the handy person of all ages. That being said, not all tools and equipment are of the highest quality. We have had some items break or fall apart after just one use, or they just didn't perform as promised. Prices can be cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for! On the other hand, you can get some good bargains on quality merchandise and even discover hard to find products. I've been a fan of Harbor Freight for years... they have a great selection of things - centered around tools, of course. Generally speaking, I'm not afraid to pay for quality items... and often I'll go out of my way to get "the best" of something - but I also have a practical side to me that sometimes you just want to get the job done at a reasonable price... and that's where Harbor Freight shines. The prices are very reasonable here and the quality is usually "good enough" to get the job done. I suppose if I was a pro who relied on my tools everyday, I night go elsewhere - but I'm not. I use my tools occasionally. I lose them, I loan them (one reason I lose them) and I abuse them. Many times I've found myself buying a tool for a specific one-time purpose that I may never run across again. If I pay $25 for that tool and it gets the job done as opposed to the $50 tool found elsewhere, I don't feel so bad about it collection dust in my garage for years. I can be as snobby as anyone else with tools... but often, that's just not practical and I'll happily be practical and save the money to be snobby elsewhere. read more

I'll never say Harbor Freight should be your first option when it comes to tools. These aren't the highest quality products and this isn't the best location. But what they lack in most departments they make up for in prices, and that in itself is worth going out of the way for. I usually pay the occasional visit when I need something to get a job done as opposed to tools I want to pass off to my grandson someday because they are such high quality. My first visit to this location was for a steel cargo carrier rack that attaches to the rear hitch of my car. It wasn't something I would use a lot, nor was it something I was sure would even work. I came to Harbor Freight because the sale price of $35 was so much better than the $100s I would spend somewhere else, like Home Depot. And lo and behold, the rack is still working today. This is also a really rundown location, with homeless wandering around and a general feel that they might demolish the shopping center in the near future. No matter. Harbor freight requires you to join a membership program in order to get the sale prices now, not a good idea. Greed will be the down fall.

It's good if you know what you're getting into. Harbor Freight isn't the place for great quality, but it's super cheap. You just have to use your best judgment when shopping here. Would I buy power tools here? No. Would I buy several packs of 4 12x12 microfiber towels on sale with a coupon for only $0.99? Yes! Also good for when you want some things for some one-time project. Update: had to downgrade this location again. U will never know which line to go into for checkout. Today, there's two to three lines as I waited in the middle aisle as we are told on other days. "There's only one lien sir". After 5 min of waiting, I had to go to the back of the middle line. Now today, there's many lines as I watched customers go I find tiny of me over and over. When asking the lady, she said it changes daily. Wtf? What is wrong w this store and mgmt? Can't u just have ur employees say something and do either tone line or three? Water my turn again but after I followed the first instructions but u changed them again. They have the same stuff as all the stores. The only issue with this store is that they literally have 15 people in line going all the way back tot he end of the store and then around. With this long line that moves one person every 4 minutes (I timed it), they only have two of four registers opened. That doesn't care about customers. Overall I like Harbor Freight Tools, but the saying "you get what you pay for" is very true in this store. This is the largest store of theirs I have been in and it is very well stocked. Some of their basic items are great deals, but you need to know the prices other places charge as HFT isn't always the cheapest. I rank the quality of their tools as average to poor. But, they do have a lifetime warranty. I have SnapOn tools and they don't break. I go here mostly for hardware items. read more

I purchased an air compressor (McGraw) I opened it and when I tested it, it would fill the tank but then it wouldn't start again unless I released the air to zero. I brought it back to harbor freight and, Andy the supervisor told me I had to pay 20% restocking fees, not fair for a manufacture defective item. Tonight PG&E will be turning off the power in the Napa Valley. After calling a ton of stores Home Depot, Lowe's, and local Harbor Freight everyone sold out of generators . Called Harbor Freight in Elk Grove got Barbara on the phone and she had one I begged her to hold it we were coming to buy it. She agreed although against policy as I was desperate at this point. We had to fight our way through the apocalypse in Napa panic and traffic to arrive @ 7:55 five minutes shy of closing. We weren't the only ones who drove hours to get there the staff @ Harbor Freight were awesome Barbara , Donovan and the young lady that rang us up made sure we had everything needed to run this beast . Thank you all I didn't get the Manager's name but he also told use how to use this generator and that it would power our entire apartment.
