Every once in a few years, you come along one of those places where everything is just right about the place. This is one of those places. The ambiance is as perfect as can be: as laid back as your own living room, as cool as a high end speak-easy, and as friendly as your local dive bar. The drinks are wonderful and all the bartenders can give you some amazing recommendations. I especially like the spicey mezcal cocktail. Such a cozy spot for fantastic drinks! I've had one of the best drinks in my life here, called the Ayurveda. This was a heavenly potion might I add. Done so well. Good for groups and dates. Extremly cozy with couches, fireplace, smaller seats, and of course the bar. Five stars without a doubt. Feels like the best of well crafted Brooklyn-esque cocktail bars but without the "look at me, I'm so cool" obnoxiousness that Brooklyn practices. A friendly waiter at Les Temps des Cerises, a terrific restaurant that is two minutes away, recommended Sherry Butt as the spot for after dinner cocktails. We will go back again tonight. Excellent liquors and ingredients from around the globe, unique concoctions, friendly and very good looking bartenders (who gave free samples), and a house/Fela/sounds like Erykah Badu DJ mix made for a great night. I had a variation of a pisco sour (chicha sour maybe?) that was very tasty and balanced. I also had a weird sounding vodka plus grapefruit plus champagne plus beet garnish drink that was eclectically excellent. My buddy had a boulevardier along with a bespoke drink that the bartender concocted based on my friend's taste preferences. Both seemed to hit the spot. It's located just off the main drag between Bastille and St. Paul metro, but on "the other side of the tracks". They're likely not to get much foot traffic of people walking by, so you have to know where you're going to find this place. It's super cozy and comfy, with lots of little sitting areas with couches and chairs. And they can make a real cocktail. For all you New Yorkers missing your cocktail happy hour, this is a good option. They are pricy, as most cocktails in France are, but good. My friend and I, who each had 2 drinks each plus a small but yummy tapenade, spend about double what we spent on dinner later in the night. This is my favorite bar in the marais. They have a nice selection of scotch and whiskey. The bartender takes a big block of ice and will shave it down to make one big ball for your cup depending on what you order, etc. They also have a list of cocktails that are pretty good. Overall, it has a great ambience and is a cool place to hang out and get a drink or two with friends. The waitress is also a pretty cool chick (Eugenia?) from San Diego. read more

I love that this is on a quieter street: almost a blink and you'll miss it place. Inside is fairly small, with space for maybe three groups in front and two in the back. We didn't have reservations so we had to sit at the bar, but they treated us just as well, getting us iced water as soon as we sat down. The bartender was very helpful with suggestions, but his best was not to make any substitutions to the creative and perfectly executed cocktails. My friends and I all ordered different drinks, and although each had one "iffy"-sounding component, it worked. Prices are too steep for me to be a regular, but it's definitely a treat that I'll come back to for celebrations or bring friends to. read more

Without hesitation, this was one of the best finds of our recent trip to Paris. It was the only bar or restaurant we went out of our way to visit twice because our experience had been so fantastic. The bar is small and dark (in a good way) and just exudes cool. In addition to the stools at the bar, there are several areas of lounge seating with sofas and leather chairs that make you want to sink right in and stay put for the night. We sat at the bar, however, and are so grateful we did, for it was at the bar that we met Javier (bartender) and Eugenia (cocktail waitress), who totally changed the course of our trip. Not only did they serve up some incredible and tasty cocktails, they actually gave us restaurant recommendations, turned us on to some incredible places we never would have found on our own, and made us feel like old friends who had just stopped in for a visit. My wife and I live in Chicago and we have an amazing array of world class cocktail lounges. Needless to say, when were in Paris last week we had to do some exploring and Sherry Butt was one of the two destinations on our list. It did not disappoint. While the drinks were amazing the real highlight was meeting Jonathan and watching him do his stuff. He elevates mixology to an art, and you knew whatever he was about to pour was going to be special. What was really cool was his ability to cut a crystal clear ice cube into something pretty extraordinary. I've seen blocks, even balls chiseled, but a diamond was new territory. This kind of craftsmanship and attention to detail - along with the really cool vibe - makes Sherry Butt in our book one of the top two must-see cocktail bars in Paris. W will definitely be back. Very cool cocktail lounge with a chic vibe. The bartenders were excellent and we had one of the best gin & tonics (which we were doing our best to sample across Paris). The balance between subtle lime juice, gin and the tonic was perfect. While there was a bit of a hipster vibe to the crowd, everyone seemed to be smiling and really enjoying themselves.
