Most racist bar I have ever been to. I was quickly made to feel that my kind were not welcome. The bartender chose to serve everyone around me then go joke with his coworker before coming back and pointing at me like now what the hell do you want. At first I thought this guy must just really be bad at his job or maybe he just didn't see my 6'5 200 pound frame hard to believe because I'm usually the tallest guy in the room. Once he finally made my drink can you believe I still tipped this guy two dollars since he looked like the type to prejudge and assume that based on my race he wouldn't be getting one anyway. He just snatched the money out my hand and threw it in the tip bucket and turned to serve someone else no thank you no nothing. I went down stairs to rejoin my girlfriend but the poor service I received really left a bad taste in my mouth but after explaining what happened to my girlfriend she said she had to see this for herself. So after we finished our first round of Friday night open bar drinks which might I add sucked we went back upstairs for another round to see if I was wrong about this guy I always want to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe he really didn't see me. But low and behold he does the exact same thing again pointing at every white face around me promptly taking there orders as they walked up to the bar as I still waited to be noticed. Me being a bartender as well in Adams Morgan I now the worst thing you can do is to wave cash around and yell bartender to get noticed so I wait and wait some more for him to joke around and laugh with his coworker. My girlfriend had seen enough and she said lets get out of here. I paid for the open bar on a Friday night which was $10 all you can drink per person from 9 to 11 needless to say we had one round a piece at $10 just about the going rate for most cocktails in Adams Morgan so we didn't take to much of a loss but one thing for sure two things for certain we will never be returning to Shenanigans for another round of their racist bigoted shenanigans I urge people of color to take your money elsewhere we are not wanted or respected there. read more

Cheap drinks and great staff. Big Tony is super friendly and is one of the reasons we will be back.

One of the bouncers tricked us into coming in under false pretenses of "$1 drinks" and failed to mention that the $1 drinks ended in a few minutes. So I get in, go straight to the bar, buy 2 drinks expecting it to be $2 and it's $16! I told the bar tender and he just gave me attitude! read more

$10 all you can drink (well drinks) 9pm-11pm. They also play some awesome 90s music. Doesnt' get any better than this! Also, theres a delicious empanada place right next door for when you get the drunchies! read more

The owner Tommy is truly the king! Went there with a couple of co workers for some day drinking and had the best experience ever. This place has the magic and if you are planning on getting engaged, this is the place to do it! Tommy, you are a legend! read more

Eva is the BEST bartender. She is so kind and incredibly friendly. She took care of us in a timely matter and is my favorite person to come see in this town! read more

Staff wasn't friendly at all and the bar itself is tiny and leaves much to desire. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

If you are looking for a place that you can pregame other bars this is for you. $10 open bar from 9-11 on the weekends is just the best deal you'll find in DC. The only problem with this place is its way to small and overpacked good luck trying to get to the bar to get a drink. read more

I recently asked my friend who doesn't drink what the worst bar in D.C. is sober and, without a moment's hesitation, she responded with Shenanigan's. I believe it. People drink at Shenanigans like it is the end of the world, and then dance like they just discovered music. Great place to go if you're looking to have one of "those nights." Classic Ad-Mo meat market. read more

This place will provide your GI tract with Shenanigans. Let me explain. 4 of us went there on Sunday night. Pretty quiet. The bouncer was pleasant, and actually helped us get our drinks. Although he made fun of us for only ordering 2 drinks for 4 guys. He only had 2 hands, so the drinks came in 2 trips in his 2 hands (4 drinks). We were all confused. We ordered food from the bartender who seemed pretty irritated that we existed and were in the bar he was running. 3 pork sandwiches with a burger, and a bacon cheese burger. The pork sandwiches arrived without the burger. But, OK, we still ate it. We probably got billed for the more expensive meal, but Oh well. And this is Sunday, and we are literally a quarter of the people in the bar, I think we are old enough to drink out of glasses instead of plastic cups. Guinness came in a glass, everything else, in a plastic cup. The tater tots were spot on, and a good portion too. That was nice. However, the aftereffects of this meal are still hitting 3 of us that had the pulled pork. I was awakened at 3am with a bodily challenge to see how fast I could get to the bathroom before I hurled. This was followed up with a 8am sprint to find out how fast I could get to the toilet. I checked in with my other 3 friends, and they all had the same issue. Dive bar? Yep. Annoy a bartender by spending money at his establishment? Yep. Good tater tots? Yep. Go here to start your cleanse? Yep. Pulled pork? DANGER! read more

I highly recommend this place if you're between the ages of 21-23 and fit into one (or both) of the following categories: 1. are a college student 2. are a summer intern You can't really beat a two-hour, $10 open bar. It's cheap, it's fun, it's a little awkward until you lose track of how many drinks you've had. Super crowded, and if you aren't there at 9pm on the dot there's probably a line. read more

Cheap for open bar but it's a hassle to try to get your drinks because theres hundreds of people but only 2-3 bartenders. Music was not diverse, AT ALL. I'm sorry i don't want to listen to Katy Perry at a bar. But if you're into that kind of stuff then you'll have a good time. read more

Great if you want a cheap, trashy place that is filled with 19 year olds. Definitely a dive bar, which I usually really like, but I'm too young to feel that old when I go on a weekend read more

I came on a Friday night 1-2am. Music here was great! It's a crowd of 22-30 year olds dancing, having a crazy fun time. The bar was somewhat slow, but being as busy as it was, I was OK with it. While I was at the bar, there was a fight that resulted in one person being kicked out by being thrown down the stairs. The guy was out of hand DEFINITELY but I do think this could have been handled better. I was glad there was no cover! Will be back. read more

Total dive bar with sticky tables, decent stop for a quick beverage and snack. Cheesy tots were delicious.

Ok ok there were just having a bad night, there was water leaking from where we were seating(at the bar) and no one really care to tell us that, the are fun ppl there but u guess that was too much for them too handle that night, may be next time read more

Small place easily a dive. Went on one night I think it was Tuesday they had two for 1 mixed drinks at reasonable prices. What a steal will definitely be going back. read more

Great dive bar. Ton of drink specials. Had an awesome DJ on Saturday night as well. 2 floors, downstairs is a little more chill, upstairs is a huge dance floor read more

Brian the bartender is so cool. Really good at his job and really focused. The bouncer was kind of rude but Brian made up for it. You go Brian! read more

This place is always buzzing specially on weekends. You will find a lot of young, college going people here . The atmosphere is amazing and they do play loud music like in dance clubs and have tvs showing football and soccer like any other sports bar or irish pub which makes it a combination of both a dance club plus an irish club. Gail is the best bar tender here. All the rest of the bar tenders are good too. You won't have to keep waiting for you drink . Overall it's a very good place to be on weekends. read more

Just happened to come across Shenanigan's as we were walking around looking for some good bar food. Definitely glad we stopped in, the food and beers were great (and happy hour cheap ). Just what we were looking. Ross provided the best customer I've had in a LONG time!!! Will definitely be back next time I'm in town read more

So much fun! Can't say a bad thing! If you're looking for a good time, some cheap but well made drinks, super fun sing alone classic mix 107.3 style music, and laid back people who like to party you've come to the right place! read more

Shenanigans gets two stars rather than one because it's cheap as hell and you can get hammered for just $10 in the heart of Adams Morgan. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not conducive to actual shenanigans, as it is tiny and there is no dance floor. Also, the bartender on the ground floor is a very rude, possibly emotionally disturbed, person. He muttered derogatory remarks about my friend under his breath and screamed at me for using the term "yo" to get his attention. It's a shame he let his personal problems ruin so many people's night. read more

Tom Tom Tom Tommy. GIVE TOM A RAISE. The best bar tender E V E R. Approved by the rude girl who ordered an IPA. #NitroIPA #JK

I was there over St. Patricks day, it had pretty damn good irish stew and my friend said the corn beef and cabbage was also very good. The drinks were cheap and we had a great time at the bar. All the bartenders were super friendly, I had a great time there, and I strongly recommend it for people in DC looking to have some no stress fun! read more

Came in for a Guinness on a Sunday afternoon. Expected a decent pint given the name of the place, but it was poured like any other beer. The heavy set bartender with the beard was not the friendliest of guys either. read more

This place is pretty pretty pretty..... fantastic and not just because 'shenanigans' has some of the best prices on 18th St. Whether the bar just opened its doors or I'm stopping by in the minutes before last call, I always have a blast. I live down the street so I might be bias but I've been living in the Amo area for nearly a decade and I stands by the bar. While it has changed names more times then I could hope to remember (most recently Draft Pix, Leaky Faucet, and McNasty's)..... in its current form (shenanigans Irish pub) it definitely (in my mind at least)remains the best dive/overall bar in Adams Morgan. The tattoo'd bartender ('Gil' (i think?!?) is key in making sure you leave happy. That being said, the whole staff (from bouncer to DJ) are f-ing fantastic. woot WOOT read more

This pub looks like any other pub. When I walked in, I didn't expect anything special. An all you can drink 2 hour span, a decently stocked bar, a crowd that's not too big. It was like any other pub, and I used to live in Boston so I know about Irish pubs. But that's a metaphor for life - you expect it to be great, you hope that it's great, but really you'll be happy with contentment. But then you're reminded that life is with living because of pleasant surprises. Pleasant surprises are different. They're unique. They're special. They're not spectacular. They're pleasant. They're pleasant because they are unexpected and they are appreciated. And they're appreciated because of those most human of things - personal contact and relationships. Lauren achieved that personal contact and made it all worth it. A great bartender who worked well under pressure and delivered. I asked her to make me a shot that tasted like pancakes and she did. A shot that tastes like Twix and she did. Like Mexican hot chocolate brewed on the hills of Monterrey and she did, and hers was better. Thanks for the drinks. Thanks for the service. Thanks for the friendships. Good service cannot be replaced, and it cannot usually be delivered but Lauren delivered. read more

I had a really good time at Shenanigans bar the food was very good the bartender was great had a really good good time I'll give him five stars read more

This is hands down one of the best bars in DC. Great service, fun atmosphere, and plenty of good times to be had. Special props to Ross and Warner for being some of the best bartenders I've ever seen read more

Was standing on line for the bathroom on a crowded Friday night, minding my own business, when a male employee I had never seen before came out of no where, grabbed me by the neck and started pushing me towards the backdoor claiming he had already told me to leave. I attempted to protest as I think he mistook me for someone else but it was to no avail. I was shoved into an alley and had the door slammed in my face. Can not believe an employee would treat a patron this way, definitely will not be returning. read more

nice people fun vibe! simple Irish joint, I will be back!

I went in because I'm new in town and had seen good reviews online. I figured I'd go to someplace that seemed fun for my birthday. I guess I got there too early because the place was dead when I got there. No problem---it would make it easier to get a drink, right? No. I sat at the bar for a while without the bartender ever turning from his inventory to take either my order or the order of the guy who came in after me. While we were sitting there we both caught the stench of vomit. No idea where it came from....I did end up going to the bathroom and it wasn't coming from there, but it was more than a little off putting. Eventually a lot of people came in for the "all you can drink" deal....the bar tender and bouncer never mentioned it to me, not that it seemed like that great a deal....and it seemed like a lot of people got lured in by the promise of "lots of booze for not a lot of money" only to realize it was for cheap yellow beer and cheap well liquor. The only bonus was that the bar tender was nice enough to give me directions to the closest bus top that would get me back to a metro station. read more

Rude! Feel bad for the owner because the staff is terrible. He acted like we were bothering him by ordering drinks. It's your job fool. Don't go here. We ended up going across the street to Madam Organs. Way better service. read more

I'd love to give this place 5 stars because outside of the one reason I have against it, it's a good place to go to. Good drink specials and nice atmosphere. My one and only complaint should be a top priority of this place. The dj is absolutely horrendous, there's close to no point of him being there. He does 0 blending of each song to the next and will just stop a song of one genre to go to a drastically different genre the next song. His ability is less than someone I'd expect to be in the beginning stage of dj'ing because at least they would put some effort in. Really this establishment should be embarrassed to be paying this dj to represent them. read more
