Our server was great, Jess! We celebrated Father's Day here and it is our first time trying it out. Very casual place but very big place. We had the shark attack to share with the table. Liked that it had snow crab legs, lobster, shrimp, and mussels. Love that we could steam it and get sauce on the side for a healthier option! The fried oyster basket was good and seasoned fries were delicious. Overall we had a great time and the seafood was rest and tasty!. Upon arriving to the restaurant, we weren't even sure it was open. We came in the back door (not sure why it was open) and the place looked dirty and very empty. There were maybe two other tables? One of the tables occupied looked like it was a manager but never got up or even looked around. The calamari we ordered was stale and not edible. Our server was missing for 15-20 mins after dropping off the appetizers, leaving our drinks empty. We ordered the vip boil and the fisherman's platter. The Cajun seasoning tasted and looked like it was old/reused from the previous day(s), sausage was also not good. The catfish from the platter was mediocre, very salty. Tartar sauce is definitely not made in house and not good. Overall the atmosphere feels dark and dingy and the food is not worth the price you pay. read more

We ordered two different flavors of wings, Cowboy style and Kitchen Sink. Both were really good, I just wish that I had went with the Diablo spice level. I ordered hot and it had good flavor but not enough spice for liking. The crab stuffed tater tots were good. The mezcal margarita was good too. My friend and I visited on a Tuesday for their specials. I had a catfish dinner w/ hush puppies, fries, and corn on the cob. The fish was extra crispy and actual real catfish. The fries and hush puppies were seasoned well and well done as requested. Their homemade sauce on the corn was some of the best I've had. My husband and i visited this place with our kiddos. And when we walked in there was a sign that said please wait to be seated. So we did. We waited. And waited. The bartender could clearly see us made direct eye contact and did not greet us. The waiter had seen us and said NOTHING. Completely ignored us. We got annoyed and left. I understand places can be understaffed but not even acknowledging us was rude. But us waiting for a while just let us know the service was probably going to be bad. Either the management needs to hire more people or the workers need to have hospitality or both! Ive worked in restaurants. You never ignore customers. A new business in the old TGIFriday's location in Lincoln Plaza, Shell Shack was a bit of serendipity! A Tuesday night visit was perfect for me, as it was discount snow crab night. You choose your shellfish of choice, as well as the individual sides (no paying for boiled potatoes or corn unless you love them), and then all your choices are mixed in a bag that is boiled and brought hot to your table. They unbag it for you, providing cracker, fork, bib, and a pair of surgical gloves for the procedure you're about to undertake! But, of course, this was AFTER the fried pickles arrived. Of course, they also offer non-shellfish and non-seafood options, including salads and kids' meals (see photos for general items). Great price on something that I consider a treat. I went last week with my husband and- wow! Our server, Sharon, was the epitome of attentive and super sweet! She helped us through the menu since it was our first time there, and she recommended many delicious sounding dishes. We have been coming to Shell Shack since it was the at the pervious location. Since they have moved the food and service has gradually gotten worse. We continued going even though the establishment was empty because it was convenient. The prices have continued going up while the food has been subpar. Today we went as a family of 6 with a child that did not eat or drink anything, just watched her iPad while we ate. We were charged a 20% gratuity fee. When we ask for the fee to be waived due to not servicing 6 people the manager stated the fee was not able to be waived. We will not be going to this restaurant any longer. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! I came in for my birthday dinner a table of 8. When you walk in there's a sign if there's more than 6 people in your party it's automatic gratuity okay no problem we usually always tip on top of that. We ordered simple things nothing complicated everything was on one tab AGAIN nothing complicated. We had to ask other servers for refill on drinks, napkins, and other little things. Not once did our waitress come and check up on us. I was very disappointed please don't waste your money here. Also when it was time to cut the cake we had to ask another waiter to bring out the cake and some plates. I really wish i spoke up to a manager to let the waiter that was helping us have that tip instead of our waitress but i just wanted to get out of there asap.
