Not too shabby of a Shell station. I used to go to a different Shell in Long Beach for their consistently lower gas prices in town, but when I noticed that this gas station would pop up on GasBuddy often, I'd make it a point to drive the extra mile or so to pump fuel from this Shell. It's a little cheaper here, so if you usually go to a different Shell, but find yourself closer to this location, don't hesitate to come here. This is one of several Shells in the City of Long Beach, but has boasted cheaper prices as of late. You can find them on the southeast corner of Palo Verde and Atherton, about a block south and west of the 405 freeway. The first time I went, I had seen GasBuddy show a price that was about 10 to 15 cents lower than what it really was, which was quite disappointing. However, even with the somewhat (or grossly in this day and age lol) elevated pricing, it was still cheaper than the other Shell stations around town. You can also accrue even more savings when you have Ralphs rewards as this station is a participating Shell station to redeem your fuel points here; 100 points* can save you 10 cents per gallon, and you can redeem up to 1,000 points in one transaction. On my second visit, I went just after 6 PM, and there was a sign on the front door of the food mart saying they were on a lunch break until 6:30 PM. That's not called dinner? lol but anyways, I really had to hope that the pump would print out the receipt because I really didn't want to wait 20+ minutes just for one receipt lol. Luckily, the receipt printed. On my third visit, I had forgotten that the pumps were on an elevated surface, so I came super mega close to hitting my tire with the step. However, when I exited my car, it made getting out a little uncomfortable as I had to step upwards to access the fuel pump. There is a food mart in the middle of the gas station, and on either side of the food mart is 4 pumps. Unlike the other Shell station I used to frequent, this one actually has a car wash, but I've not used it, so I can't comment on how good (or bad) this car wash really is. They ask you upon paying for fuel if you'd like a car wash or not. Some stations might charge less for fuel if you elect to add a car wash to your transaction at the pump. Most stations around town charge 10 cents more per gallon if you use credit/debit. However, the price remains the same regardless of payment method or your choice of car wash; keep racking up those credit card rewards! * I recently learned that when you have 100 fuel points from Ralphs, you can actually redeem them for $1 off your next purchase. This would be the better option unless you're pumping more than 10 gallons at Shell, but even so, Shell is not a participating gas merchant with Upside; unless that were to happen sometime in the foreseeable future, my visits to Shell may now very well be history. read more

Once upon a time, this Faerie Queen"s trusty steed needed a wash! I appreciate that this location has a nice car wash. Gasoline is still expensive, but it is still nice to have a clean ride. The end. read more

Ozzie is great! Now that's customer service. Thank you Ozzie! Your professionalism is much appreciated. Very friendly and personable.

COVID19: Essential and open for businesses. Clean, modern gas station. 8 pumps and they have diesel. Automated carwash with soft spinning brushes. Paid air/water and vacuum. Mini-store is fairly well stocked. Directly across from CSULB. (PSA: never use your debit card to pay for gas at any pump...anywhere. At some point you will be HACKED) read more

normally the attendants are super nice but the guy that checked my id said i looked nothing like my photo and it made feel really uncomfortable, obviously i don't look the exact same way as i did at 16 when my photo was taken as i do now at 24..... super weird. my name on my id is the same name on my debit card too so idk what power trip he was on read more

Stumbled upon this Shell when the gas light came on whilst driving on the 405... boy, what a great find! Filled up for $4.29/gallon here. Drove just down the street afterwards and the other stations had prices around $4.45. What a great find this place was - all by luck! (though I'm sure I could have used gasbuddy) The little mini mart had a decent selection, too. Managed to pick up a wild cherry Pepsi - so much tastier than regular Pepsi, in my opinion. And decently priced - not a huge rip off. Convenient location it seems, so worth a stop in if you need a fill up! read more

Shell - Gas Stations Near Me - Long Beach, California

Went to get my car washed I desperately needed it. Cost 12$ for the best package which is not too bad for a car wash, but the machine did a terrible job. I ended up having to basically rewash my car again, along with this disgusting wheels and sign rolling over my "clean" car. Overall due to convenience It's worth my time but not my money. read more

Don't forget to put your Ralphs card if you have points or Fuel rewards card for an automatic $.03 off per gallon. This station seems to be lower than the one off Willow and Lakewood Blvd. Also this station is not too busy so you can get in and out ASAP. The traffic here is also light. Other than that, I've never really interacted with staff members so I can't comment on them. But kudos to them because this station is pretty clean. read more

Stopped to get gas and to use the restroom. I asked the attendant where the restroom was and I was given directions as well as told how to turn the light on. I was given a stick with a key on it. You have to wave the stick at the ceiling to get the light to come on...weird... Upon entering the restroom I saw a sign stating NOT to flush toilets paper...gross... While using the restroom the light turns off...annoying!!! After using the toilet I noticed that there was graffiti carved into the toilet seat, as well as the soap dispenser and mirror... Needless to say, I will NOT be returning to this location any time soon!!! read more

Shell - Gas Stations Near Me - Long Beach, California

Shell is my preferred brand of gasoline. I've attempted to get gas here on two different occasions and they seem to be shut down at night. I'm not sure what time they end their business day so it would be appreciated if somebody posts their operating hours. God forbid you run out of gas in the middle of the night thinking you can gas up here and you show up to discover they're closed. I don't know what's up with this part of town but the 76 down the street is also closed. My third stop had me at the Mobil on Spring and Los Coyotes which was open at night. Hallelujah. read more

I've been coming here almost every week for 2 years and have never experienced good customer service from this lady but today takes the cake. (There is an older Hispanic lady I believe that has always been kind and helpful to me). As most know the bathroom outside is typically left unlocked for people to freely use up until a month or 2 ago and you would have to walk in and ask for the key. Walked in and asked the lady behind the counter for the key and she said "we don't have a public restroom". Clearly you do since I've been using it for years but ok. I responded with "oh ok since when?" In a calm tone of voice just genuinely curious when this change happened. She ignored me and paid me no mind. Me naively thinking she didn't hear me, I repeated myself. She responded with "I don't have to explain shit to you" I was baffled because I hadn't said anything rude and wasn't being unreasonable. So I said "ok I've been coming here for years and it's always been open to the public" (which by law in California it has to be) and she barked back and said "it's closed, the toilets broken" I replied with "alright maybe start with that next time? Or put a sign up?" I then walked down and aisle and was going to get a snack and spend money here as I usually do and she yelled at me "OK BYE" so I left and will not be coming back. I've never had such a disgusting interaction of customer service in my life. This is also the first review I have ever left anywhere so that's saying something. Avoid this place because they do not deserve your business and clearly don't care about people. read more

Very easy and convenient for someone who goes to school at CSULB. I have been here a few times and to me it's a standard gas station. I didn't go inside the actual convenience store so I don't have anything to say about that. However, the machines all worked and I was able to put gas in my car. To me, Shell prices are always a little more than I'd like to pay, but if I'm in a pinch and really need it then I can't critique their scale by which they charge people. This gas station is never crowded (at least not during the times I've been there), which I like because trying to find a spot in a crowded gas station is a LIVING NIGHTMARE. read more

One of the cheaper places to get gas near CSULB. There's also a 76 nears Joanns on Los Coyotes Diagonal that's slightly cheaper than here . Also , this location has like the best squeegees . They're always in good shape and never leave streaks when I'm cleaning my windows. 4/5 stars because they always have those annoying people trying to sell you the crappy wax (please do not touch my brand new car) and also because they don't have a slushy machine. read more

Great pit stop for quick easy service love the vibe between the employees make the shopping a lot more convenient

Very convenient to the Cal State/Los Altos/College Park West area. They have a convenience market, car wash and a good amount of parking for the vacuum/air/water station. Car wash is a little overpriced but does the job.'Much better than the hands free wash down the street. I like that they are generally .10 less than the chevron station down the street off of stearns and palo verde. (just to show how convenient this station is, I wrote this whole review on my iPhone in between pumping gas and getting my car washed.) read more

The car wash is super faulty, management knows about it and has done nothing to fix it. The kiosk at the car wash does not give you a receipt and the car wash itself goes haywire when you pull in. DO NOT GET A CAR WASH HERE!!! I paid for a wash, the machine kept telling me to back up, and then I could not get a refund without "calling the manager" so that they could "look at the tapes" to prove what I was saying is true. Everyone I talked to said "yeah, that happens a lot" Rather than just refund me on the spot, I had to call the manager during her hours (7-3??) and now have to drive back to the gas station for a refund. read more

I have used their car wash twice now and both times over the last few months, my car leaves there soaked. The dryer on top never comes down to dry the car. Both times the employee walked out and said my car looked clean, then walked away from me. Rude and tacky to pay for a service that I am not getting. Now I have to go home and get the water spots off of my car before they set in. Never again! read more

I didn't go inside so I don't know how customer service is. But I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the bathrooms were, especially since they aren't locked for customers only. It's just a deadbolt. So realistically anyone can get in. But they were super clean and smelled good. read more

The car wash sucks. Very cheap on the soap, and it doesnt get your car clean. You would be better off to go somewhere else, or do it your self. read more

Incompetent and worthless staff. Unfriendly and unhelpful. Every time I have attempted to obtain customer service from them I have received a "call my manager" who is only available during morning hours. Convenient that the only person who can help is available during the average joes normal working hours making it nearly impossible for most to reach. Plus the car wash is extremely sub par and the station is dirty. Look else where. read more

Arrived late at night, and there were lanyard type bike locks strewn through all of the pump handles. Never seen someone so eager to not sell their gas. read more

This place has the worst service. I bought a car wash but the pump didn't give me a receipt. The employee was on break in the back so the doors were locked for 20 mins and the employee wouldn't do anything. read more

Had an emergency blast-off and the bathroom was surprisingly clean for a gas station, thanks shell!

The location is convenient, but I have experienced more than one occasion that makes you say hmmmm?!!..They can't break bills even if you fill up gas..Even getting "air" for your tires can be challenging as I asked the clerk lady if she would turn on the "air" and after walking back into the store "Twice" to ask the lady nicely if she's turned on the air which she stated she did...but no dice with the "Air so I just drove off. There have been times when they even make you wait "forever" to pay the gas because they are doing a "shift change" which can be a delay! I won't return to this station!! read more

If you want to be harassed by people that spray chemicals on your car without permission, then this is your station. If you complain Shell Corporation will refer you to a Texas based company that will refer you to some marketing company that does not answer the phone or return calls. I post this only after I had an altercation with a SHELL EMPLOYEE and had to physically defend myself. Shell Corporation has been unresponsive to my complaints. read more

Get your junk pumps to work right so they accept the Shell rewards card. Recently ordered a Shell rewards card. Found that it won't work at pump, gave me error at two different pumps. Finally had to go pay inside to get my discount. Store attendant seemed annoyed when I told her about problem. Had to overpay inside to get a fill up. Hope the excess goes back on my card like attendant said it would! Been coming here due to 20 to 30 cents cheaper, not sure it's worth it though for corn fuel. If they don't get said issues fixed will take business elsewhere. read more

Car wash is terrible. When pulling forward for the dryer to dry my car, it took off my antenna. I have a Mini Cooper, meaning I have a very small antenna and it ripped it clean off. Now have to go to my dealership tomorrow to get it replaced. Never going back there to get a car wash again. read more
