I currently own a Honda HRV which is literally defined as a compact crossover... aside from height it is more compact with less space and length than the Honda Accord I owned previously. I come to coast monthly and have owned the HRV for two years. The past two times I have come to Coast they have tried to charge me a $5 fee for having an extra large vehicle. Both times I asked for it to be removed given that I had never been charged this before and they did. But when I stated that I had never been charged an extra large vehicle fee in the past they would act surprised and say that compact crossovers are considered extra large! I can understand charging extra for a van or large truck, but a crossover just seems ridiculous. The upselling has also become overwhelming. They are constantly trying to convince you to get more expensive packages. When I went today the guy tried 3 times to get me to upgrade from the basic $29.99 wash and I kept having to say no. I wish he would have accepted that the answer was no the first time. I frequently drive up to northern CA and just came back to Long Beach yesterday. I usually get my car washed here after I come back and have never been charged extra. Today I was told that regardless of what car wash package I selected I would be charged $20 extra for the bugs. Sadly, after being a loyal customer here for years, this has just put too bad of a taste in my mouth and I won't be back.

Came around 8:30 AM, all wash bays were full, but was able to park behind and wait for a spot. The wash bays are great because they have a timer above the outside, letting you know how much time left other people have to wash their cars. First time I have seen this at a car wash. Price wise, I think it was comparable to other car washes, and since my car was especially dirty, I took two swipes of the card to complete my wash. Very happy with the results, and would come again!

A sign would have been nice. And respectfully, I'm not sure how you can comment on the condition of my car unless you were the one who personally cleaned it. What's frustrating is that even with the $50 detail I paid for, my car was still dirty inside and out. I had to wipe down my own rear window and other areas because they were visibly filthy. The vacuuming wasn't fully done, the windows were streaked, and the attention to detail simply wasn't there -- not once, but twice. What's even more disappointing is that nothing was offered to make this right -- no redo, no partial refund, no genuine effort to fix the experience. As a longtime customer and neighbor, that really stings. I appreciate the response, but this wasn't the level of service I paid for, and unfortunately it's why I won't be returning.
