Reminiscent of my early years growing up, it's the "corner store" where you could buy a bottle of…read moreRC or Coke and grab a bag of chips or Hostess product. Very early 60's ..... if you like that kind of store. A real nostalgic market loaded with just about everything you need for the day. This place is busy during the summer because it's about 1/2 mile from Main St. So walking to DTSB to get drinks, chips, etc for the beach, then walking back is a real pain, hence Dolphin Market is a true "convenience" store for beach goers, as well as for locals. When in Seal Beach, drop by and visit during your walking tour. Happy Shoppin' and Fight On!

My love for the neighborhood corner market runs deep. My love for corner markets like the Dolphin…read moreMarket runs much deeper. I'm sure everyone can recall the small mom & pop corner market where they grew up, how it held untold treasures behind cabinets, under shelves and in the coolers. Cold soda pop, NiHis, jaw-breakers, ice cream bars, it was all here. Remember asking your parents for a quarter and running off with your friends to that market? Ken, the proprietor, says he owns over fifty surfboards. And I believe him cuz I think a third of them are here. They hang from the ceiling, lean against walls or lie on the floor waiting for some attention. Mop-headed, blond-haired kids come in wearing nothing more than bathing suits covered in sand and dried saltwater to stare in wide wonder at the waves these boards must have seen in their day. 8x10" faded photographs of ancient surf stars sliding down monstrous waves cover holes in the walls. Bobble-heads, mostly baseball characters, stare down impassively and watch the show from on high between rows of collectible Coke cans and the flotsam and jetsam of a lifelong collector. This is Ken's world. Wife "Barbie" runs their day care center. Maintaining two businesses means the "Open" sign isn't hung regularly but, as summer approaches, you'll spot it more and more as you walk up from the beach looking for that cold brew and hot story of how that ceiling-slung "Trestles Special" once carved delicious tracks across a sparkling blue wave. Deep love indeed.

7-Eleven - That's the dude that has too many coins. Really annoyed me and they lost business because he said no to money.

Can we talk about 7-Eleven coffee for a sec bc WHAT is going on…read more Some locations got the carafes like they're fancy. Others just brew a kiddie pool of coffee and dump it in a giant thermos to rot. Pick a struggle. So I pull up and the coffee is giving _iced coffee without the ice_ + bitter. Asked the employee if they could brew fresh and I stood there like an FBI agent watching the whole operation. Bro goes to the machine, does some button magic, grabs the thermos, gives it a lil hip bump, and walks away. Sir. SIR. Are we not gonna dump the crusty old coffee first??? There's def a cold coffee graveyard at the bottom of that thermos and you just poured hot coffee on top like it's a layered latte I was shook. Suddenly questioning every life choice that led me to 7-Eleven at 8am. BUT plot twist: thank GOD 7-Eleven isn't the only coffee dealer anymore bc his laziness sent me straight to Extra Mile down the street. And bestie... they got this new machine that's actually fire. 7-Eleven fumbled so hard I found an upgrade. Rating: 1/10 Coffee was a war crime, thermos hygiene is not a thing, and the hip-bump refill lives in my nightmares. Extra Mile clears.
