The pump only had the medium grade available.... which I didn't know 'til after I opened my tank, did my credit card and zip code, etc. By that point, I figured I was already there and committed (and there was a car ahead of me, so I wasn't going anywhere any time soon). I used to go to a different Shell in Long Beach for their…read moreconsistently lower gas prices in town, but when I noticed that this gas station would pop up on GasBuddy often, I'd make it a point to drive the extra mile or so to pump fuel from this Shell. It's a little cheaper here, so if you usually go to a different Shell, but find yourself closer to this location, don't hesitate to come here. This is one of several Shells in the City of Long Beach, but has boasted cheaper prices as of late. You can find them on the southeast corner of Palo Verde and Atherton, about a block south and west of the 405 freeway. The first time I went, I had seen GasBuddy show a price that was about 10 to 15 cents lower than what it really was, which was quite disappointing. However, even with the somewhat (or grossly in this day and age lol) elevated pricing, it was still cheaper than the other Shell stations around town. You can also accrue even more savings when you have Ralphs rewards as this station is a participating Shell station to redeem your fuel points here; 100 points* can save you 10 cents per gallon, and you can redeem up to 1,000 points in one transaction. On my second visit, I went just after 6 PM, and there was a sign on the front door of the food mart saying they were on a lunch break until 6:30 PM. That's not called dinner? lol but anyways, I really had to hope that the pump would print out the receipt because I really didn't want to wait 20+ minutes just for one receipt lol. Luckily, the receipt printed. On my third visit, I had forgotten that the pumps were on an elevated surface, so I came super mega close to hitting my tire with the step. However, when I exited my car, it made getting out a little uncomfortable as I had to step upwards to access the fuel pump. There is a food mart in the middle of the gas station, and on either side of the food mart is 4 pumps. Unlike the other Shell station I used to frequent, this one actually has a car wash, but I've not used it, so I can't comment on how good (or bad) this car wash really is. They ask you upon paying for fuel if you'd like a car wash or not. Some stations might charge less for fuel if you elect to add a car wash to your transaction at the pump. Most stations around town charge 10 cents more per gallon if you use credit/debit. However, the price remains the same regardless of payment method or your choice of car wash; keep racking up those credit card rewards! * I recently learned that when you have 100 fuel points from Ralphs, you can actually redeem them for $1 off your next purchase. This would be the better option unless you're pumping more than 10 gallons at Shell, but even so, Shell is not a participating gas merchant with Upside; unless that were to happen sometime in the foreseeable future, my visits to Shell may now very well be history.

They've got a deal where you can get $.30 off per gallon however I will tell you that it's a gimmick because they're pricing per gallon regularly is over six dollars a gallon where everybody else is about $5.30 so they're still sticking it to you they're just disguising giving you a big discount even though they're not. However, I will complement the fact that their car wash is excellent. You're going to get a great car wash for 12 bucks. I don't know what the other ones give you but for the basic $112 got my car really clean and then you get a free vacuuming and air hose to blow off the excess water so overall thumbs up for the car wash gas prices and the gimmick is a joke.

I have never been treated so consistently poorly by any business in my life. He gets ticked off and VERY condescending when I need to use my Vons points. Points I could easily use at the pump if they ever worked the right way which they dont. Every single time I've been forced to go there he is rude. I would rather run out of gas than visit there again. Too bad because I love Chevron. Jorge even pissed my hubby off today which is near impossible and the only reason Im writing this review.
