So after heading back to our hotel after a day out on the water, we were extremely thirsty and wanted something cold quick. This store is located on a very busy corner, given that the transportation hub for the rail as well as buses are just block down south. I can only imagine what the traffic here must be in the mornings on a weekend. Typical convenience store with lots of cold drink options, snacks, and slurpees. The one thing I didn't like were the substantial number of homeless and crackheads hanging out in front of the entryway. However, given it was a holiday weekend, Long Beach PD were not messing around. They were out in full force: foot, autos, bicycles, and even on little carts manning the blocks around the shoreline. This is the absolute worst convenience store in the entire city. The morning staff are all extremely rude and will have loud conversations with each other while ringing you up. Had to say my cig brand 3 times and tell the man 4 times "can i have a bag please" because instead of listening to me he continued a long loud conversation with his coworker. They also close at random times for no reason without leaving a sign as to the reason. The only reason this store gets any business is because there is no other convenience store nearby except a cvs which has late opening hours and since its cvs no cigs. If I could give it zero stars I would. Me and my friend needed to use the restroom really late that night after coming from one of the other establishments. My friend then proceeded to give him so cash because we knew we were coming after hours and he would be doing us a solid. I'm not a fan on this specific 7-eleven due to the amount of homeless around it and that actually come in as customers. They tried to decrease the amount of homeless around this convenience store by continuously playing classic music, however, there are still a good amount there. I bought three cases of beer from here and the guy charged me $80!! Idk about you guys but three cases does not add up to that. I immediately went back in the store with the products and my receipt, the man was at the register was so confused and acted like he didn't do anything. I showed him my bank statement and asked why he over charged me. He refunded me only ONE case of beer and then rung up the beer again expecting me to pay!! I go here frequently because it is near work and it is easy to grab something on the go... water, coffee, energy drink, snacks, even a hot dog if I want a quick lunch. This is exactly why I go to any 7-11. The store is small, but has most essentials you might need. It's on a corner and easy to get to. And, depending on the day -- the person behind the counter will great you and might even crack a smile... As you can tell by all my check-ins here, I'm a frequent shopper at this ghetto, downtown Long Beach 7-11. It's not that it's cheaper than any of the other filthy markets in the vicinity, it's just that it's the closest one to my place. There are only 3 reasons why I visit this place so much. The first is to grab a piece of fruit for breakfast before I head out to work. The second is to get cash from their ATM. The credit union I bank with doesn't charge me those pesky ATM fees when I use a 7-11 ATM. The third and final reason I visit this 7-11 is for a delicious, heaven sent treat. The treat I'm referring to are those Hostess Chocodiles. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about! Chocodiles are those chocolate covered Twinkies that look like dog sh*t but taste like they were handmade by Jesus himself. My only problem with this place is one of the dude's who works here stares at me when I walk through their doors with his Satanic black eyes like I'm some common thief, even though he has seen me a thousand times. Mofo's got such an intimidating stare he could stop a 2 ton charging Rhino dead in its tracks. And I dare not stare back because this fool is as big and actually looks tougher than Muhammad Ali. Funny thing is, his name happens to be Muhammad. If you are in the area and need to pick up some fruit, cash or a Jesus made goodie, stop by my this 7-11. I mean no offense, but you can really tell wherever the men that work here are from, women are pretty low on the totem pole. On top of their chauvinist attitudes, they're lazy and rude. At different times I've observed customers ask all of the day employees if they carry an item (last time it was jelly) only for each of these guys to glare back at the customer (obviously annoyed) and say NO we don't carry jelly (or whatever). We needed a 20 oz can of tomato sauce but were too lazy to drive to the Albertson's down the street. It was Effing 100 degrees outside. Found the number of the 7-11 and called them up. The guy was nice enough to go searching in the aisles and told us that, why yes, they did have tomato sauce...several cans in fact. HELL YEAH! The tomato sauce is for tomorrow's dinner. I don't know what they're selling in Japanese 7-11 but man, I wish I had some. Rockstars they have...drinks that is, along with the typical, h2o, milk, soda, etc. Not much larger juice selections although they do have a lot of random munchie snacks, some hot foods like hotdogs and nachos (duh) and this and that's. This 7-11 is very convenient for everyone. I live close to the Long Beach Court House and I will walk to this 7-11 even though there is a convenient store down the street. They are always stocked and is usually clean all the time. The draw back is all the homeless and panhandlers that hangout outside the door. I don't blame them at all for doing what they have to do to survive. I wish I can do something for them but I'll help out when I can. So be aware that you'll be asked for change 90% of the time you go to this 7-11. This 7-11 is also in the heart of downtown so they deal with a lot of people day in and day out. They get A LOT of obnoxious people. From the homeless person who feels the world owes them to the corporate uptight jerk who thinks he's better than everyone to the drunk bar hopper who doesn't know when to stop. They have to deal with a lot of unnecessary drama all the time. On the other hand...there are a lot of good patrons that shop this store as well. The problem is that sometimes the staff will treat the good patrons as if they were one of the obnoxious ones. That's not ok! Jus because we come in during the time when they get most of their rude customers doesn't mean you can treat everyone to the same extent. Other than those 2 things...I would say shop this 7-11. For the most part it's a decent store. But decent or not...people are going to go here cuz it's a CONVENIENT store so they're going to go here if it's convenient to them. This is an excellent 7-11. The guys who work here are terrific. It's a tiny bit like a Simpsons cartoon, but they're very professional and nice. I frequently get 2 ripe bananas for a dollar here. They always seem to have bananas and they're typically ripe or very close to ripe. They don't mind if I help myself to some hot water. They're also agreeable if I have to run back to an aisle or something. They don't act put out or like you're bothering them. The manager is very nice. He even let me return something that clearly said unreturnable on it. I was very happy, too. This is the best 7-11 in the world....that I know of. read more

There's something vaguely space-age-y about 7-Eleven's new frozen dairy dessert StirCrazy. It's the first soft-serve ice-cream-like product that can be kept in the freezer case. This means that science has created "ice cream" that remains soft at temperatures below freezing (without any sort of agitation). This means that people who used to work for NASA dehydrating ice-cream sandwiches and turning tangerines into Tang are now working for 7-Eleven. This doesn't mean anything, really, but it does remind me that I'll never live in a city on Mars. I figured there was some scary, new lab-invented additive in this stuff to keep it unnaturally soft, but a quick scan of the ingredients revealed only scary, familiar lab-invented additives (though the sheer number of them was impressive). Intrigued, I bought the cookies-and-cream flavor (other option: cookie dough). Ingeniously, the crushed Oreos are separated from the vanilla "ice cream" by a thin layer of frozen chocolate. Less ingeniously, the cup is just a little too small to easily stir everything up without losing some of those precious cookie bits and/or inadequately distributing them. This is a problem because the "ice cream" is so blindingly sweet that you need the cookies to temper it. That's right--the cookies serve as a de-sweetening agent, and if you misappropriate them, you'll wind up eating the bottom layer of disturbingly sweet cookieless "ice cream" only because you have a deep-seated psychological need to finish every morsel of food put in front of you. read more

I do! :( I strolled by to get my haagen dazs fix a few nights ago, and patiently waited at the register for the guy to finish placing the dogs & wings on the food warmer.. when all of a sudden.. I see him stomping on something and checking his shoes.. he then picks up a ginormous and deceased cockroach with his bare fingers *barf* To my disbelief, he went straight back to placing the remaining food, touching EVERYTHING. I love 7-11. It's so convenient and clean without being overpriced. My big issue with this 7-11 is the service. The clerks are so unfriendly and apathetic. The line spans the store during the lunch crowd, and the clerks just shuffle around. I want to shout "MOVE LIKE THERE'S A FIRE!" Usually there are beggars out front, and they need to discontinue the Cheeseburger Big Bite which looks so appallingly grotesque I throw up a little bit when I see it. read more
