I only use this gas station because it's close and it has gas. Otherwise it's very poorly run. I never have a bad enough experience that I would never ever come back but it's just frustrating enough that I leave unhappy. Even when things run smoothly, it's to make me drop my guard for the next disappointment. I imagine that this is what the upper levels of hell would be like. Each pump blares an annoying TV/news clip on loop. The buttons on the pump are not always functional and when you press twice the machine will decide to register the button press twice. Every so often the machine will decide that it doesn't like you and at some point between swiping your card and pumping gas it will tell you to go see the attendant, who isn't always at his station. During the day, there's also very little space to move around and when the pumps are 50% occupied I wouldn't even try to move between the cars and the pumps. It's doable but risky and stressful. It's even harder now that they have construction. There's not a ton of parking space so some cars will park at the pumps too. If you live nearby, I will say that the pumps themselves are modern and well maintained. The store is fine when the attendant is present. They have air and vacuums. And the car wash has always been great they have a deal now where if it rains the day after your wash you get your money back. I come here because it's an acceptable gas station on a lot of days. But they need to step up their game. Things often go wrong and it never seems to get better. read more

Terrible service, just left this location not so long ago. There was a sign posted saying the cashier was taking a break. Not a big deal for me as I waited 20 minutes right outside the doors. All the cashier did was stare at me awkwardly. read more

Air machine always out of order! Which it really isn't they just don't like the fact that they have to turn it on for free, California State law!!! You never have to pay for air but they have a problem with that! Also since New owner they never have receipts in the gas tanks nor do they fill the paper towels on the window wash container. Car wash shut down a lot. New owner raised the price of the vacuum. Uber drivers need all of these things so we just have to go to Mobil around the corner! Gas is a little cheaper anyways. read more

Like every other shell, but super clean, and cheaper! Good quality gas, less wait time since it's tucked away next to a Target, and an air fill center that is rarely used! I love to get gas here. Plus, it's next to the District too, so you can come here after burning off cash shopping and save up on filling your tank! read more

The car wash never works and they never refund money. Gas station workers have horrible attitudes.

It's too bad you cant rate a business with zero stars...I came to this location to use Ralph's Rewards, with a $1.00 per gallon discount. Their system took my number but failed to provide the discount, so it charged me the regular price. I showed the manager/owner my Ralph's receipt to verify the discount and he refused to provide a refund, blaming me and saying I did something wrong (as if I don't know my telephone number). I had to go back t Ralph's to report the problem. Thankfully my Ralph's store is awesome and provided a refund...If you are looking for good service, with integrity, avoid this gas station at all costs. If you want to be blamed for anything that their system might do incorrectly. this is you go to business. read more

If you need air in your tires, just ask the cashier, and they will turn on the air for free. If you have a Ralphs card, enter the number on the back 1st before you pay. That will give you 10 cents off a gallon. Take your receipt to Ralphs, and get double rewards points. Grab a lotto ticket, and go. read more

Told the clerk the pump was not working. Looked at me and said it was working fine before. I told him it doesn't work now. He said again it was working fine before. Doesn't care to check it out....he was obviously trying to place the blame on me. Told me to just go to another pump or go to a station with a working pump. Unfortunately this station has the cheapest diesel in town. Moved to the other pump to watch another lady go through the exact same scenario. She went in to tell the clerk and he says to go to another pump and now he will check it out. Yeah, right. Stellar customer service...I applaud you. read more

I purchase gas at this Shell station when I'm in Irvine and occasionally get air. Today I stopped to get air and they were going to charge me $1.50 or I had to purchase something. The manager was rude, I hope that $1.50 was worth it. They won't be getting my business and I'll inform others in Irvine to boycott this station. read more

My back tire was starting to go flat so I took it to the Shell Station I always go to, to buy gas and the occasional late night snacks as nothing is open in the area. But the one time I needed their help with a flat tire, they said that if I didn't have a gas receipt for the same day, that they could not turn on the gas compressor and that I would have to pay for air. I even took out a gas receipt from the day before where I spent $40.00 on gas and she said that if it wasn't dated today that she couldn't help me. The attendant told me to complain to management. "I JUST BOUGHT GAS YESTERDAY!" As far as I'm concerned, this Shell station has just lost my average $200.00+ business a month. Date of most recent gas bought: 9/2/2012 Date and time of air requested with attendant refusal to help: around 9:50pm on 9/3/2012 Worst service around. Can't really complain. It's a gas station with ever changing prices right? It's pretty small inside with one register on the left as you walk in. Not a great selection of food. They also don't have any restrooms! Waiting in line to pay sucks when there Is a long line due to the one register they have :( read more

****CAREFUL THEY STEAL FROM YOU!!!!!!****** 0 f -ing stars I am not from Irvine but was on my way to see a friend, stopped by this gas station to pick up a pack of cigarettes and get some gas. I walk into the gas station ask for my cigarettes. I go to pay for them, sliding my card, typing in my pin and then asking for $15 cash back. Cashier Isreal looks up at me and says "would you like your receipt?" His cash drawer pops opens and he shuts is immediately "Yes, and I asked for $15 cash back" I respond. He hands me my receipt and says to me "we don't do cash back here" I respond with "excuse me?" Looking down at my receipt that clearly says "change: $15" he tells me I need to check my bank account and that in 24 hours it will be refunded to me, coping an attitude asking me "do you know what a refund is?" I ask him if he understands English, or better yet, can you read? I pull up my bank statement on my phone, showing him the charge on my account for $22.77. I, again, demanded my $15, standing there arguing with him back and forth while he tells me over and over "we don't do cash back" I tell him there are no signs posted anywhere saying "no cash back" and my receipt clearly states that I asked for $15 of my hard earned money back in cash and that he owes to me. And IF for some reason you don't do cash back then that needs to be CLEARLY posted for customers to see so they DON'T ask for cash back. He did nothing to try to ease the situation. Made no effort to try to resolve the situation. Made no effort to get a manager on the phone after I asked him multiple times. He did nothing for me. I sat there with him, creating a scene in the gas station for 15 minutes, demanding my money. I asked him "how many times does this happen?" He responds "never people who come here know we don't do cash back" whatever that means.... it's a shell gas station, people stop at gas stations all over the place... all over the world. Some close to home, and in my case very far from home. This is such an inconvenience for me. I get into my car and immediately call my bank verifying that yes, my card was charged a total of $22.77 and that there was cash back. I call the cash station hours later, a very sweet girl answers, I ask her "hi I was just wondering, do you do cash back at your location?" she responds "yes we do." I have now filed a claim with my bank, filed a claim with Shell USA corp. and called the local police department of Irvine. I am so livid. We all work very hard for our money, including the jerk behind the counter today and I do not appreciate being lied to, stolen from and cheated. Money sure as hell doesn't grow on trees... Corporate, if you're reading this I want a gas card for my inconvenience and my $15 back. And I won't stop until I do. read more

This gas station is awsome. Always clean. Doesn't make me think twice about touching the gas nozzle. Awesome carwash. They just put in a brand new carwash few months back and it takes credit cards now. Very convenient, right next to Target. I understand there are not too much interactions with gas stations employees these days but they can really show their customer appreciation by keeping things clean, keeping restrooms clean, and keeping paper towels fully stocked at the pumps. Don't get me wrong, I don't ever enjoy making a stop at any gas station, but this place makes it as pleasant as possible. Besides gas and carwash, they also have Lotto, snack shop, beer, and free air for your tires for customers. read more

Beware! I purchased $33 of gas at this station using a credit card. The station put a $99(!) hold on my card. I called them about taking a hold that is 3 times the amount of purchase and a manager/owner said there was nothing they could do about it, but that the hold should be released soon. 24 hrs. later, the hold on the card remains. No other gas station ever has done such a thing. read more

Rude, very unhappy employees, and pumps that frequently have problems, e.g., card reader does not work, pumps half a gallon then cuts off. Car wash is so-so; lousy on drying and low water pressure. Makes no sense that it's cheaper to buy the car wash at the machine at the entrance to the wash than at the gas pump where you are already spending money on fuel. Yes, that's right; you get penalized by a dollar if you buy the car wash with your gas purchase. Makes no sense. read more

Pump 1 dumped 60 cents of gas all over my car and shoe. Ran out the back of the pump rather than in to the car. I moved to a different pump. Now it won't take my card. So I go in. Wait in line. The gal in front of me tries her pin three times. She doesn't know it. The cashier tells her "I can run it credit so you don't need a pin". Wow! That sounds safe. Needless to say that gal got her gas. Hope it was her card. Now it's my turn. I explain that pump 1 isn't working and the cashier just stares at me. I let her know I moved to a different pump and it won't take my card. She says I either have to go out and use a different card or prepay with her. What?!? Whatever! I gave her my card and got gas and went on my way. What a poorly run broken down station. Left my name and number for the manager as she "couldn't give me anyone's info" to call me to discuss pump 1, 60 cents and my shoe. Haven't heard from anyone yet. read more

Wow... one thing went wrong after another at this Shell station. I pulled into the car wash on my lunch break and sat in line for at least 20 minutes. When I finally pull up to the change machine where you purchase the car wash it doesn't seem to want to eat my bills... I tried at least 5 different bills. So naturally I reached for my debit card and that worked but it never gave me a receipt. When the green light turns on I pull into the carwash and sit there. The water turns on and squirts my car but none of the brushes are spinning. Nor does the dryer turn on when I try to leave. So naturally I walk inside and tell the attendent the issue. He says can you wait a few minutes because it's a change of shift. I let the guy know that I'm in a hurry because at this point I'm already late for work but he has me wait a few minutes anyways. The next cashier walks in as we're speaking and they ask me for a receipt, which I was never given. Before they even attempt to give me a refund or another round at the car wash another customer walks in and is having the same issue. She tells me that this is the second time that this has happened to her in the past 2 months. She jokingly said, I told myself I'd never be back and here I am. Eventually the cashiers gave us both refunds. I ended up being very late back to work and frustrated. My car is still dirty, didn't have time to pump gas and I never got to pick up lunch. I wouldn't recommend getting your car washed here unless you have all of the time in the world! read more
