The car was left dirty. I went in and the first guy said he didn't know anything. He was right. I always stop by here after work on my way home to put gas daily on one of my sisters car's since we carpool. But NEVER HAVE I EVER been WRONGLY CHARGED by an employee. Today i decided to go in my car since we took two cars. Usually there is a cool younger guy that is very professional and kind. But this time it was a older man and I was in a rush I grabbed a coke can and a bag of chips usually it's about $3 something but this guy charged me $11.10!!! Best believe I'm fighting this and never going there again. It's a bummer because I like this place and we always stop to put gas since we drive far and we get snacks daily. Holy cow this was the worst car wash ever. I went through twice and it somehow got worse each time! There was a residue left on my car and my car came out sopping wet and has the worst water spots ever even with the "spot free rinse." There is a Shell by my house in Santa Monica that has an amazing car wash! I go through all of the time. Their dryers actually work and even if there is water left, it truly dries spot free. I thought I'd have the same experience at this Shell but boy was I wrong. I ended up having to clean my side mirrors and windows with glass cleaner just to see through them and now I have to go to another car wash to get the water spots off. When I left he said thank you, and I didn't respond because I felt he had been quite rude, and then said thank you again three times at increasing volume as I walked out the door, more angrily each time. This review is for Victor, the Russian Mercedes mechanic at this gas station. I am an owner of several vintage Mercedes cars. I have gone through four different mechanics in the last 15 years who specialize in Mercedes. My last mechanic was Jorge, from Mr. MB Motors in Tarzana, the legendary Master Guild Mercedes mechanic. When he retired, I decided to go local I chose Jack from Jack's Tri-Start Motors in Glendale, on San Fernando. Jack is a good guy, who absolutely knows his shit, even and especially on older Mercedes cars, and can diagnose problems instantaneously. However Jack is too expensive at $125 / hour. Case in point, for one of my newer Mercedes cars, the intake manifold developed a crack The entire manifold needed to be replaced with a new one. Jack diagnosed the problem, no joke, in less than one minute. His cost of labor was $500. So I happened to walk-in on Victor doing the same job on one of his customers' cars one day at Shell. He charged me $300 plus I supplied the parts. This is how I got introduced to Victor as a mechanic. Victor owns two vintage Mercedes diesel cars, as do I. I brought him my old 300d turbo diesel, and had him do a valve adjustment Right price, and service from a guy who owns the same car as you do and knows his shit, and is local, is the trifecta you need for your car. So now Victor does all my old Mercedes. The only thing about Victor's place is, he has only two stalls. One stall is dedicated for smog checks, which can come in at any time, thereby shifting his focus. And the other is for repairs. Almost all car repairs he does, have to be one-day jobs max. Because he can't be occupying his work stall for more than a full day with a repair. When I brought him my Mercedes c230 for the intake manifold, he stayed until 8pm that night just to finish the job, because he had another scheduled repair the next day Jobs that Victor has done for my Mercedes cars: -intake manifold swap -fuel filter/accumulator swap -coolant flush/exchange -brake fluid flush/exchange -valve adjustment -window regulator repair -oil changes, gasket replacements -brake jobs -suspension work: shocks, struts, springs Recommend you try him out for the little things that you don't want to take to your Mercedes Indy mech who will charge you $125 per hour on labor. You will get good quality, attention-to-detail work from a Mercedes pro. Payment: You don't pay him directly. He gives you an invoice, and you take it to the Shell counter (where you pay for gas). Thus, if you wanted to pay with credit card, you can do so, unlike indy shops which charge you More to pay with A card. What I do is, I go to Ralphs (which has a partnership with Shell gas station) and buy Shell gift cards with my credit card (earning points on my card) in the amount of the repair price. I pay for my car repair with Shell gift cards, thereby earning both points and discounts of 20 to 40 cents off per gallon (!) on my gas. After you pay for your repair, the gas station will also give you a free drive-through car wash as well. Bottom line: Victor is a good, experienced mechanic, who knows his way around 70's, 80's and 90's (and newer) Mercedes cars. I've seen him doing w116 300sd's, and 2016 E-class cars. He prefers to work on Mercedes, but will take and repair other cars as well. He is essentially a mini-indy shop, without the overhead shop owners pay. My previous guy, Jack, has to pay rent at his shop in Glendale, and passes on his costs to you in his hourly rate. Victor doesn't pay rent (not that I know), so his prices are much more reasonable at $75 per hour, but sometimes he will cut you a break on his prices as well. read more

No "thank you for telling me" but he threw his hands up in the air and said "what you want me to do? Is not working, it happens". And refused to reimburse me for the car wash it already charged me. I live here in LCF and it's always the same with this guy, no matter how polite you try to be with him. What is his problem? I'm surprised this gas station has such a low rating. I don't see much wrong with it at all. I come here typically on Wednesdays to maximize on low prices midweek. They have a serviceable car wash, and a little mart with all the typical gas station goodies. Ho hos, Twinkies, M&Ms, Chips, Energy Drinks. YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE. Also like car freshener in case you drive in a sewage facility. I suppose my main gripe is that it can tend to be busy, especially since it is right off the highway, and close to the La Canada Plaza that has every millenial's food dream: Panera, Blaze, Chipotle, and Luna! The only good thing I can report is that gas usually flows from the pump. I wouldn't vouch for the accuracy of the pumps, however, as the tamper seals are always broken or newly replaced. The credit card readers on at least 2 of the pumps are always down. It's a minor miracle if the receipt works. Half the time the car wash code is not printed on the receipt, so you get to park and go inside, wait in line, and ask for it to be reprinted by a surly attendant who makes you feel like you're the idiot. On the weekends it's crammed with 100 crotch-rockets. Good luck finding an open pump. read more

Today same as always, but I noticed a bunch of fire trucks and ambulances further up the road, I walked to the sidewalk its see what was going on. As I was heading back to my car, one of the attendants was yelling at me to move my car, as I wasn't getting gas in his opinion, I told him I was and to calm down, it was 530am and no other cars were at the gas station. the Arabian guy that worked the night of 01/01/17 should not be working there. some buddies and i stopped there for some gas that night between 9:30pm and 10:30pm. the cashier hides in the back to avoid dealing with transactions with customers and when he gets caught and does have to deal with customers, he is very rude. the first thing he says is "what do you need?" when my friend asked for chapstick, he turned around, grabbed a box, took a stick and rang it up. didn't even ask her what flavor she wanted. and when I asked for a Swisher, he did the same exact thing. when he gives you back your change, he throws it into the little door tray like hes showing you disrespect. The price is low ($7-10) but still not worth your car being completely soaked after the dryer (a single pass). I had to dry the entire car with my own towel and the spots I missed had very visible water spots. Have been coming to this station for two years, always on my motorcycle. It is the unofficial starting and meetup point for riding ACH, usually to Newcombs Ranch. Sometimes 20 or 30 motorcycles have congregated. The owners and management are always accommodating, considering how much space we can occupy, and we delay motorist in cars from the pumps. Maybe it helps that we purchase a little more than average from the convenience store. Thanks for hosting all the two-wheeled motorists over the years. read more

The power was out today and the employee was extremely rude when I told him nothing was working (not knowing the power was out). He told me oh well the power is out and there's nothing he can do after knowing he took my cash. I purchased a touchless car wash at this location (the Shell Gas Station on Merivale) thinking that it could at least clean off a bit of the dirt on my car. I had even purchased the premium package. However, after I had taken my vehicle through the car wash, it was just as filthy as before (even the handprints from my 2 year old were still clearly visible. When I went inside to ask for a refund, the gentleman working the cash said he woudl like to see my vehicle first to ensure that I wasn't lying, which was completely reasonable. After looking at my vehicle out front he agreed that the cash wash had done literally nothign and that my vehicle was still as filthy as before. This is where the outrageous part occurs. He refused to give me a refund, telling me that there was no way for him to do that and that the best he could do is provide me with anoth car wash for free. Considering how it went the first time, this is completely useless to me, even having purchased the most expensive carwash available for twice the regular rate. The gentleman then went on to tell me that my best solution was to take it down the road to another car wash, take my car through there and then come back and take it through the touchless car wash afterwards. I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. I pay for a car wash, which doesnt work and then they suggest I pay for another one somewhere else so that my car can actually be cleaned, and then afterwards bring my vehicle back to be "cleaned" again. I was extremely disappointmed and frustrated with this kind of customer service. Not only did I waste my time and money on a car wash that doesnt even work, but the only solution provided was to not refund me my money and to go to another gas station with a working car wash. I will certainly not be purchasing gas from this location ever again, and I will be adamently warning future customers to stay away because of the poor quality of service provided. read more

The ridiculous thing is that when you earn your 20 cent off gas reward from Ralphs and use it at this Shell you end up saving about 4 cents off compared to what other stations charge. Just filled up with $61.00 worth of gas. within minutes with my wallet app on my iPhone, my Amex charge came in at $85. I went in to complain with the attendant David Chang, who first told me it was impossible. When I showed him my receipt and the charge on my phone, he said to come back tomorrow for a refund. Bottom line, I can challenge the charge on my CC, but being a resident of La Canada, I find it disgusting that someone can scam people under their nose.
