Review #927 2025-105 It's been almost a decade since I've been to this Shell station, but I used to infrequently stop here en route home from Westwood because the prices were fairly competitive & it's near the 405 Fwy. I was meeting some friends for the movies when my car's low pressure light turned on, & the next exit happens to be by Shell. I parked by the air/water station to check my tires & they seem fine. The machine didn't have a separate tire pressure gauge to check the PSI; I needed 35 PSI (front) & 32 PSI (rear) for my car. Since I don't need to buy gas, I had to pay $3.00 for 5-mins. The instructions were relatively easy to follow, but I questioned its accuracy since it didn't beep or indicate when it reached the targeted PSI that I enter (modern ones stop automatically), especially on the passenger side when I can't read the gauge. When I was pumping air on the right side, it read at 40 PSI, which makes sense since I've been driving a few miles. Just to be sure, I went into the convenience store & ask for assistance. The attendant couldn't be bothered, but I said I think the machine might be a problem since the low pressure light was still showing after adjusting/lowering the PSI. After rudely telling me to wait because another customer cut in front of me for his car wash issue, he walked out & provided another 5-mins. of air & watched me put air in the front left tire. It was at 40 PSI, which was odd since it stopped during my initial attempt. I explained that to him, & he said just wait for it to reach 35 & walked away. I re-did all 4 tires & the low pressure light was still on. I was running tight on time, & didn't want to dispute the air/water station's accuracy after this 2nd attempt. It may not be the machine, but my car's sensor since the tires look properly inflated. I drove the rest of the way via streets at moderate speeds to minimize the risk of a blowout. Did you know? Since 01/2000, gas stations must provide free compressed air, water, & a pressure gauge during operating hours to paying (gas) customers. Most drivers don't know about this law & pay for air. In past visits, I didn't need assistance (whew!). And just like cellular service, everything's peachy keen until it's not, then you're in service hell just trying to get the service that you paid for. I'm quite put-off by Shell's lack of customer service & care for motorist safety. I doubt I'll be back here at this Shell station. read more

Not recommending this place if you are planning to purchase gas & use there restroom. It's not for public use.

The lovely young lady that works here deserves 5 stars she is always so nice and welcoming. Weirdly this station has been closed two times, and I wasn't able to get any gas, the second time I had to drive to a further location and almost ran out of gas. These fools stole my Ebt card info and charged 50$ worth of transactions the next day at 711. When I was in there the cashier asked for my ebt card, to scan, took his time and watched me type in my passcode. I just went along with it thinking I was being paranoid or he was a weirdo. I guess I was right about one of those. HERE'S THE BEST PART. When I was there shopping, I noticed that they are selling a lot of 711 inventory at their store and there is a 711 across the street. Velveteen is the person who appeared to be in charge today when I went in to purchase gas. I used my Ralph's rewards which was going to give me .10 off of the gas. Being that the gas is $4.19 my gas should've come out at $4.09 after trying several times their gas pumps would not take the discount. This is not the first time I have a used my Ralphs rewards nor is it the last time I will use it. Velveteen told me that if I went to another pump and it didn't work she didn't know what to do and she didn't know who to call...well that's the wrong answer for a consumer to hear that the person who supposed to be in charge does not know what to do...I cannot help you she said she would not be able to help... A proactive person that is part of the solution and not part of the problem would say... I'm not sure how to handle that let me call the corporate office and ask them...Or let me give you the corporate office number and have you call them because I have not come across this problem and I was not trained on what to do in this situation and I don't want to tell you something that is incorrect. I cannot stand laziness, lack of knowledge or accountability of a clerk. Train your clerks correctly or at least train them with what to say when something comes up and they don't know what to do. Velveteen went on to be very rude, would not give me her name, the corporate office number or the number of someone who knows what to do in this situation. She walked to the back of my car and took my license plate number as if that's going to do anything, then told me that she would not service me and gave me my money back by slapping it on the counter and telling me loudly, (with other customers in line), Here's your money back! I have never been treated like this EVER! That's real rich coming from a gas station attendant...WOW! The owners of the Shell station at 3801 Venice really need to train their staff...Velveteen was the only person that was rude. Andrea was NOT. Truly all this started out about was they didn't know how to fix the problem and instead of finding out how to fix the problem they created a problem...and that's a problem for me! I was sitting in their parking lot writing this review and she just said that she's going to call the police on this bitch...UNBELIEVABLE! Steer clear! read more

Gas is ok, area is a bit sketchy bc this gas station is next to the freeway underpass and there's frequent citizen app alert about incidents around this area...so definitely avoid at night time. Car wash is ok...my car is never dry when I use this place so get your car washed here if you plan on going on the freeway and driving for a while so that nature can get get rid of the water on your car lol read more

No public restrooms even though it's next to a freeway and even though they let off the clock workers come into piss and I asked for the key from the off the clock worker who just ignored me and walked to the front desk where I asked for the key again and they said it's only for their workers read more

Im leaving a review for the car wash. If your normal hand wash place is closed because of corona, this is a decent substitute. I took it through and it cleaned my car pretty well and I didn't get any scratches. I read reviews first saying to jump on the freeway afterwards to dry your ride but it's not that bad if you don't. O stars really. I'm disabled, not only did an attendant NOT help me pump as required the ADA but THEN I needed air.... which says it's free to customers which it is NOT. Then- they wanted to charge me- be6inf disabled 5 dollars to add air. Any lawyers out there want to make money?? EASY ADA lawsuits here. Easy. Stopped to get gas and use restroom. Gas station very clean... but they would not let me use the restroom. Very rude attendant.

I went in tonight at 11pm, had won $20 on a scratcher, and was looking to give $10 back on a scratcher, and then take ten to spend on something in the store. The man that was running the counter told me that he would not cash my scratcher out. Which is fine. Just tell me why. Nah, he refused to tell me why and went on to the next customer. Ken, he said was his name. What a jerk. Just tell me why you won't accept it. This guy is not someone you want to be the face of a place you're trying to rebuild. We all live in the neighborhood. Showed them my car covered in soap, dirt, and dripping water and the trash at the register wouldn't do anything for me. She even claimed I never bought a car wash in the first place and said "no one else has been complaining" and "I can't even see your car." Likely Trump supporters. read more

So I stopped in here on my way from Carlsbad to Sacramento on Sunday afternoon the 6th of October at about 3:30 PM. I filled up the tank and went in to use the restroom. The restroom door inside the "Food Mart" had a sign posted saying "Cleaning in Progress." What was weird was I heard no activity, the door was locked, and when I knocked, no one responded. I went to the front desk and asked "Chase" (female, braided hair, and oh such an attitude) if there was a key to the restroom. She stated it was being cleaned. Thinking this was odd, I asked if she had any idea how long this would take to which she said "no." So i waited....and waited....and waited, and about 15 minutes goes by, and I ask Chase again, "are you sure there is someone in there cleaning and how long has that person been in there?" She states (again with attitude) "yes there is someone in there, I've been waiting to use it myself since I got here, and I can't leave to go across the street eve to Carl's Jr., as I have to stay here." I ask what time she got there, and she says, "2PM." REALLY, she couldn't have told me this while i was waiting in front of her for 15 minutes? And why couldn't she have gone across the street, she had a co-worker to cover the store. I smell BS!! This delay during a long road trip accompanied by her rude demeanor toward a PAYING CUSTOMER are inexcusable to me. The owner and manager should seriously determine what occurred, what was going on in that restroom, and consider at least a lengthy discussion with "Chase." I went to go see the cashier and there was a sign saying "closed sorry" with no one to help. One day the card system was down so I walked inside to see if I can pay inside and as soon as I walked through the doors a female worker yelled, "CASH ONLY". I hate this gas station. I've been here twice and both times have actually left without putting any gas in my tank. Yesterday the card machine at the pump I was at was broken. I decided to pay at the cashier, which I never do, but all the other pumps were taken and I didn't want to wait seeing that it was Friday night and I was ready to PARTAY...or just go home and relax. Anyway, I paid and went back to the pump, but the pump didn't work. OK, so I called over attendant. He was ok (relatively decent), but he didn't help at all - just repeatedly pushed the same buttons I had already tried. When he asked if I could use another grade of gas (I use 91) I said whatever a bit hesitantly. Attendant says 'Well gas is gas, It's all the same.' Nice to know that 89, 90, 91 is the same shit. I'm sure Shell is happy to hear that. Ok, so none of the other grades worked. Attendant left to try something. Meanwhile, a guy dressed in nice khakis and driving a relatively new looking volvo station wagon is harassing me to spare him some gas. wtf? well if you can make this pump work I'll give you a drop or two. Guy sped off after he realized I was not going to oblige. you picked the wrong person to f with at that moment buddy. I went back to the cashier where attendant (who obviously hadn't done anything more and just left me there waiting) told me pump wasn't working so I should pay again and go to another pump. Sure, let me just keep throwing money into this inefficient hellhole. Well, after convincing me that my payment hadn't gone through (or wouldn't) I left there out of sheer frustration driving home on fumes. AUGH read more

I'm going to guess about a dozen pumps at this busy corner gas station. Their prices are competitive with others in this neighborhood bordering mar vista and culver city. The computer screens are s little bit slow in asking questions and processing your inputs, but overall it's not bad. Sometimes it can get crazy at this corner gas station and people try to jockey around to get in line. The station seemed fairly clean today. Never had a problem, so yes, I would recommend them to anyone on the area. As in thinking about the pumps, there might be about two dozen pumps, not one dozen like I originally thought... BEWARE!! My debit card was declined twice at a pump (with plenty of funds attached.) Was forced to see an attendant inside. He ran the card again and it was declined again. I decided to use a completely unrelated credit card to buy $70 worth of gas. While leaving, recieved a text from my bank asking if I was attempting to buy gas. I replied yes. Magically, while I'm blocks away a $85 charge was made to my thrice declined credit card without ever having pumped $85 worth of gas. I purchased $70 worth of gas on a completely unrelated credit card. The Shell station said I had to take it up with my bank. My bank didn't generate an $85 charge out of thin air!! My bank also cannot prove that I didn't purchase the gas as the station is unwilling to help. Bottom line, I'm screwed out of $85. Stay away from this place. If the 405 underpass transients crawling all over this place don't violate you, the station itself will! read more

The attendants can't answer your questions wether you ask them in English or Spanish!!! I had to enter my Ralphs card twice to get gas and the only gas available was regular!! When I went to the attendant he ignored the fact that I said " gift card" and he insisted I did something wrong with my credit card!! He made no attempt to understand or listen to what I said and I said it in English AND Spanish!!!! They don't get the concept of customer service and I'm ashamed that the company I work for ( Ralphs ) has selected this gas station to participate in our rewards program.
