I usually love am/pm Arco. This location is nice clean... aesthetically it meets expectations. The personnel and some of the policies are just stupid and this is why they get a one-star period a paying customer who buys gas and food requiring a fork, must pay $0.25 for said Fork. $0.25 for a plastic fork? Again paying customer buying gas and food at 6 in the morning. Asked for bathroom token, which was never a problem before. I looked presentable, had paid for gas and goods and was denied. The night time employee states the bathroom is closed. I asked if it was not functioning. She goes 'no we don't allow people to go in there right now.' There are no hours posted for the bathroom. There's no literature explaining this anywhere and it's never been a problem before. I asked where is the nearest restroom that would be open? She tells me to go to a different ARCO in Marina del Rey. Are you kidding me? Does that even make any sense? This this location needs to get it together. Make some uniform policies and keep them consistent from shift to shift employee to employee. Post said policies that are different than every other AM PM Arco location in Southern California. Had I known I have to pay for plasticware, I probably would have gone somewhere else. Had I know that there are hours for the bathroom, I probably would have gone somewhere else. This location would have a decent review if a customer could have a chance to learn about these different policies on location not after point of sale or point of need. No bueno. read more

However, I no longer go there do to the homeless people who accost customers in the parking lot and by the pumps. Okay, so the prices here are lower because it's an Arco. However, since it's an Arco you cannot use your credit card to purchase gas... Which can be a hassle. They charge an extra .35 on top of every transaction regardless of the amount. Then they also charge you .10 for a bag that will literally disintegrate when you go to pick it up. This Playa Del Rey Arco station is a good 15 cents cheaper per gallon than most nearby gas stations. Credit cards are not accepted at the automatic pay stations (cash is but it is always out-of-order), and using ATM cards will require an additional $0.45 charge. But you just can't beat the price of gas even though it does get very busy during peak times. There is also an am/pm store (with a decent selection of snacks and drinks). Currently though, the store is undergoing a renovation/redesign, and the am/pm may not be open for business right now (but the gas pumps are still active). read more

BE CAREFUL USING A CREDIT CARD HERE. The outside card reader won't work with credit cards, so you can take it inside, but the attendant stole my information and tried to use it to buy $2,000 worth of Apple products the next day. I realize I shouldn't have given card to anyone without me being in their presence the entire time--just in a hurry to get back to the airport and thought nothing of it at the time. This is my one stop when I'm just relaxing and need a quick snack when I'm not working. This place has a couple of quirks, but most of my experiences have been good. Let's start with the good. The staff is generally pretty cool. They have a friendly demeanor and are always willing to help. The place has tons of things to choose from and the gas prices are good compared to other places around. It's never really too packed, and it's location makes it good for a last minute cheap snack before heading to the beach. Some of the negatives can also be the staff. Let me clarify, most of them are nice and helpful, but I don't like it when they start speaking Spanish to other employees when I'm trying to ask for something. Whether I understand or not, I find it rude (it's not always nice things to say at work). The bathroom situation is not good, and sometimes the gas does spray. I've had this experience at this location several times. I've only had this happen to me at a different location years ago. It's really difficult to complain about this place because they try their best. And despite their proximity to the airport, it's never really inconvenient to go there. People have always treated me with respect and I can't speak for others. However, I have seen some questionable customer service decisions. We've been visiting this location for years now, and a lot of the staff that worked there has been pretty nice. More recently, it's been a younger staff, but they are knowledgeable and remember you by name. It totally feels like a neighborhood store even though it's a franchise. read more

I go here for my three newspapers and Diet Coke each morning. They have a good section of snack foods and the fountain soda machine usually works. Sometimes cranky, unfriendly workers but most of them are friendly enough. Good gas prices and some healthy food choices like yogurt and various fruits. Fairly clean for a convenience store. People in neighborhood be aware. This is one the worst gas station I have ever seen. New system they have for pumping gas takes forever. I seen few customers they rather to go inside and pay cash instead of dealing with the machine outside. They restrooms is closed at night time and they don't give you the key. I went for buying snack night time, I asked the cashier if I can buy couple of lottery and he said is closed. He didn't accept my large bill neither and asked me to pay with debit which they charge you 35 cents for it. And the end I asked for a bag and he said 10 cents. I didn't have any change and if I wanted to get the bag I had to buy with debit card and pay another 35 cents more. This gas station frequently has pump problems. This morning, the pump I was at would not shut off, and kept overflowing all over my car and the ground. In order to stop it, I had to remove the nozzle from my car, and therefore the gas got all over me. The employees were more concerned about calling the owner. than helping me, who was standing there dripping with gasoline. One told me "sorry, there is someone in the bathroom". Gasoline is toxic and poisonous, and their response was ridiculous. When I called the owner to discuss, he blamed me for the incident. When I asked to be reimbursed for the gas geyser that his faulty pump spilled, (mind you, I asked for 5 dollars) he yelled at me, saying that customers expect to get away with everything and anything. I am appalled by this terrible display of disregard for their own negligence. Don't even get me started on their lack of customer service. I will never go back there again. read more

Buyer Beware!!! This morning I went to gas up, as I typically do. I live in the area. Before I did anything at all, I removed the nozzle from the pump and I was sprayed with gasoline. It felt like a lot of gas, It felt like at least a half gallon. I went inside to report to the lady at the register, Carmen, and asked for the manager, she said they were not there. I asked for the assistant manager, she said they do not have one. I told her I need to report this. She just shrugged. I went back outside to finish fueling my car, and promptly another employee followed me outside and began taking photos of me. She did not say a word to me. I asked her for her name, she said Marybell. These employees are not trained at all, as far as customer service is concerned. I immediately contacted ARCO, and filed a report.
