Mini Mart steps from the beach, which is a local's favorite! You can find numerous grocery items! Always friendly! Always wonderful to see everyone! Grateful Nick's is near whenever I want snacks, fruit & sometimes a bottle of wine to take to a neighbor's get together! I've been coming here for years, as it's nearby & a short walk away! Nick's has a huge selection of refrigerated drinks: water, juice, wine, as well as alcohol. Also, a huge selection of non-refrigerated wine/alcohol. Yum: My favorite snacks here include: Talenti Pistachio Gelato, Ritter Sport Chocolate Bars, Flamin' Hot Cheetos Trail Mix & Hershey's Bar w/almonds! And on the fruity side, bananas! Passing through town, went on a bike ride today, decided on a light buzz for the second half of the ride. Not having a lock I asked if I could bring my bike in the store and the nice fellow behind the register said I could bring it in and park it at what was a convenient spot. Scored a nice can of Guinness and was on my way. I appreciated the courtesy I received while in this store. read more

I haven't been to this part of town in years, but I found myself over here the other day, and was happy to see Nick's is still around. They have a really great location right here on Washington to catch the people/bums/all of the above rolling in from the beach/boardwalk. Last time I was probably over here was maybe 10+ years ago at this point, and with people I no longer keep in touch with. However, Nick's was generous to put up with our sorry asses and I appreciated that. I noticed the hours here have them open until 11p as of the date of this review (I swear we were here later than that so long ago) but obviously things have changed due to Covid. A quick stop for a couple of lottery tickets, and some refreshments, A Ginger Beer, a Red Organic drink and a Stumptown Original coffee roaster's Nitro Brew! Variety to the max! Despite being somewhat pricey given the location just moments from the Venice Pier, Nick's is a reliable stop in the evening when you don't want to trek to Ralph's or some other large retailer! The place is very clean, organized and dependable when you need a few items. Being single, I can stop by after dinner at the C&O or El Tarasco and grab a few things such as milk, juice, ice cream and alike. The staff is all long-term people who have been there forever and as long as I lived in the neighborhood which is nearly 25 years. There busiest days are the Fourth of July and Memorial Day where the place is swamped, especially after the festivities such as fire works, etc. I like a place where they know you and appreciate your business. The place always has customers and they can have trouble-makers and drunks come through the doors since so many bars and restaurants (The Terrace, Whaler, Mercedes, etc.) are just steps away. They do have competition from several like establishments but I patronize Nick's because they treat me well and they care about the customers. If you live in the area, Nick's is reliable and dependable and that's important to me. They also have magazines and newspapers and that's important to me as well! read more

Nick's Liquor is a local neighborhood quick stop I visit it frequently. They pretty much have a bit of everything, Liquor, Lotto, bathroom items and Chips. A friendly bunch of guys. The prices are more than a grocery store, but as we know we pay for the convenience. read more

This place is usually great... but I attempted to stop in for a bottle of water and the man at the front counter became very confrontational about my service dog. When I tried to explain it was a service animal he continued to make jokes. Not disability friendly. read more

Totally overpriced store BUT the location is amazing and very convenient for last minute emergency items like boooozzzzzz. Nothing like spending 23 bucks on a teeny tiny bottle of grey goose and hating myself for not stopping at Costco while I was sober. Liquor store is an understatement - the sign on the front that says 'groceries, wine and spirits' is more accurate. Corner store reminiscent of a small town would also be correct. Most of Nick's visitors, including the thousands of tourists hitting the pier and the locals getting cash for their hinano burger, won't get past the first half of the store - soda, candy, beer, snacks. But venture a little further and you can hardly think of a thing you need that they won't have. And here we have my... 5 Reasons I Love Nick's Market: 1. It has an impressive grocery selection: Like, real groceries. I have bought greek yogurt, fresh onion and garlic, chickpeas and diced tomatoes for curry. Prosciutto, brie, hummus and pita for girl's night. Eggs, bacon, tortillas and Peets coffee on Sunday morning. They have organic and specialty choices almost across the board, with prices comparable or only slightly higher than Whole Foods - but the time and money I save by hardly ever making a 'run to the store' more than makes up for it. 2. It has an impressive alcohol selection: Hundreds of bottles of wine, more craft beer than a small Ralphs and $30 specials on 1.5L of Pearl vodka. Their alcohol is completely fairly priced - they're not sale prices, but they're not sucker prices either. 3. It has an impressive housewares selection: I've run over for an extension cord, can opener, rubbing alcohol and a paintbrush. They have 6 kinds of toilet paper, and 20 (yes, twenty) kinds of laundry detergent. Count 'em. 4. The reliability: Nick's is open from 6am to 2am, 7 days a week. I opened Christmas morning with a trip to Nick's and closed New Year's eve with one. I speak more words to the cashiers on a weekly basis than I did to my mom when I was in high school. Which brings me to... 5. The cashiers: There's really nothing like pulling out of bed on the weekend, making the move for gatorade and coffee creamer, and realizing your credit card isn't where it should be. But when the cashier just offers to loan you $10 until you (retrieve it), you say to yourself, once again, Nick's is the best corner store ever. read more

I go here all the time as it is around the corner from me. I have no idea why there are people on here saying the staff is rude. The staff is perfectly fine, helpful even (e.g. "do you want a basket?", "here I'll try to put this all in one bag so you don't have to buy another", etc.). More than likely the people having the problems are the problems themselves. The store is pricey, but for emergency food, drink, etc. it's to be expected. read more

The staff and owners at this little corner store are stellar. They are always friendly and helpful AND they know a lot about wine. The owners love wine and it shows in the nice variety of bottles they offer for sale. Nice range of prices. For a small space, they pack it with all sorts of things you want or need. Want=over 10 choices of ben and jerry's. Need=a nice bottle of wine to take to a dinner party. I just wish they sold organic milk in more choices...other than that, no complaints! read more

Perfect location. Credit card is 10 dollar minimum (not 15 from a review below) the staff is not rude at all. They have the perfect demeanor for a liquor store. The prices are a little high but not ridiculous like the reviews below. I drink gin and a big bottle of new Amsterdam was 15.99 can't beat it. read more

I live right by here and visit all the time. The staff is friendly and always willing to banter with customers. They have an amazing selection of food and liquor, including smoked salmon and prosecco. Sometimes there's crazy bums hanging out nearby but that's Venice for you. It's privately owned and not a corporate 7-11 type joint. Prices are a little steep- 12 bucks for a sixer of beer- but that's what you're going to pay being so close to the beach. read more
