I've experienced both terminals many times and the new one is a tremendous improvement over the old outdated one. The terminal is NOLA inspired with Jazz music, plenty of bars, coffee shops, and of course a Cafe Du Monde. Like all airports pricing for food, beverages, and snacks is on the expensive side. Well, we are a captive audience. Security is a breeze especially if you have TSA or Clear. The restrooms are very clean even during the busiest times. The ride share area is across the street from baggage claim and is well organized.

There are also plenty of food and restaurant options, which was a nice surprise. While it's not one of the largest airports I've been through, it still has everything you need and never felt overcrowded or difficult to navigate. Overall, it was a smooth, stress-free experience, and I'd definitely be happy to fly through Louis Armstrong Airport again.

Worst airline EVER !!…read more Me and 3 others were supposed to fly out of New Orleans march 16th at 5:10am .. We got there at 2am ... they didn't open their ticket counter / baggage counter till 3:45am Not only that but they admitted they were short staffed and had all 5 lines converge into a single line in the middle which made it take 3x longer to get our bags dropped and get to TSA . Also I had pre requested wheel chair help because I was injured and couldn't walk at the time . The clerk at the counter told me . And this is an exact quote " sorry where short staffed today , we have too many call out s , your gonna have to deal with it your self " which they legally have to provide wheel chair assistance .. Well long story short we didn't get to the ticket counter because of their short staffing till right before 5am ... then through tsa and the flight had already taken off .. Their best option was to rebook us on another flight. The next day in the afternoon and we wouldn't arrive till almost midnight ... over 32 hours AFTER we were supposed to already be there ... this would leave just 1 full day for our small vacation so we said no thank you .. give us our refund because that is not acceptable .. But it was their short staffing that caused this issue in the first place . So I emailed them and requested they cover the cost of our non refundable Airbnb because this was caused by what the even consider Controllable issues . They could have atleast offered what they give to those who need to be bumped to another flight considering this was their fault . Which is $2150 per person . But they basically told us to deal with it and accept that they ain't doing jack sh*t for us , they are the absolute worst Not to mention the wheelchair assistance issue . My suggestion is to NEVER fly Southwest Airlines,.. they are terrible and have garbage customer service !!!!

I'd say "kill 'em with kindness", but that would likely get me booted from the airport and put on the no fly list...LOL! Not one of the TSA personnel was able to extend anything other than "we are in control and you will obey" to their presentation. I have Pre and this was the first time that the line was longer and slower than the regular line. One TSA agent asked if I had metal in my body. I believe he could have passed me through a different detector. When I said yes, he looked me over, asked if I was sure, I said" I'm certain I do" and he told me I'd have secondary inspection then. After going through the machine, I had secondary inspection. Hahaha. I know that I have metal. Heck, my xray looks like the surgeon left drywall screws in me. I ponder, who isn't sure if they have metal in their body or not? No big. I did secondary. Maybe I've been spoiled by the other places I tend to fly and have grown accustomed to the TSA agents feeling friendly and confident. This security checkpoint is worth walking past and going to another. I appreciate taking the time to screen every person thoroughly. And, it can be done in a professional manner that doesn't threaten those you're trying to protect.

The gentleman who gave me directions was very pleasant. When you walk into the airport, you go past the escalators and turn right down a hallway. You use a $50 money order to pay in room 303 - be sure to get your paperwork before you head down to the next room. You may need to wait outside the next room (I think it was 313) for a little while before your fingerprints are taken. Both the lady who I gave my payment to and the gentlemen who took my fingerprints were pleasant and easy to talk to. All around a good experience. I would just try to get there early to account for a possible walk from your car.
