We drove across the Michigan border to try this shawarma place out! We ordered through a self-service table, so we didn't have much interaction with the staff. There is some seating inside and also a few tables outside. I had the chicken wrap, and it was so flavorful and filling. I love the amount of pickles they put into the wrap. I also got to try a little of the Abbas' mix smoothie, which was very refreshing and tasty on a hot day. The shawarma and bowl were excellent. We stopped here on our way out of Canada on a road trip. We are from California and wanted Shawarma. This place hit the spot. Three of us shared a bowl with rice and salad and shawarma wrap with rice and fries. I loved how the garlic and tahini add so much flavor. We also ordered a side of hot sauce to add on ourselves. I heard about this place through of all things, Tiktok. The owner posts hilarious videos out of the Toronto location and I couldn't help but wonder how their food was. after watching a ton of the videos, I finally remembered to google them and realized they have a location in Windsor! YES. I bookmarked it and finally had the time this weekend to hustle over the border to check it out. This location isn't huge and parkings a bit tight, but that's okay. It's literally a mile from the Ambassador bridge. The menu is huge and you can customize it any way you'd like. They have three kiosks for self ordering, but one was down when I was there, so only two. They also have a huge menu overhead on TV screens so you can get an idea of what they serve before hitting the kiosk. I had a ton of questions and asked a nice gentleman behind the counter for help. The staff will help if asked, even though they're insanely busy cooking. I ended up getting their signature shawarma burrito and you can literally get any protein inside. I went with the lamb beef mix. Drinks are bottled pop, and sides are extra, like hummus and other stuff. Let me tell you, this is a fantastic shawarma and worth my time and money to get. Also, the owner guy posts a ton of hilarious videos so you have to watch a few before going. He always gets upset when people try to put ketchup on the shwarma, and if you check your receipt, there's a hilarious blurb on there about how ketchup does not belong on them! Also, due to his middle eastern accent, some of the items are phonetically spelled from the way he speaks which is even funnier! He loves to talk about za spicy garlic, brotein instead of protein and a bunch of other stuff too. Go check this place out because I will literally drive across the border to eat here again. Not authentic shawarma. Doesn't taste anything like it. Also the employees are very slow and unprofessional and don't seem to care. Some of them are very rude. The drive through is the slowest and biggest waste of time I've ever seen. Instead of calling it a shawarma sandwich call it a beef or chicken wrap. When I ate here I got severe diarrhea and will never eat this garbage. I wish I had the time to make lots of Google accounts to just give them unlimited 1 star ratings. I was visiting Detroit from the DMV area and while their headed over to Windsor. I saw Shelby's and decided to try it for lunch. It was definitely a great choice. My friend heard somewhere that place was incredible, so we drove from Detroit to Canada to try out this place. I got a legendary shawarma wrap with beef/lamb and my boyfriend got the biryani. I was being extra and also got a chicken boutine as well. The shawarma wrap was amazing. The meats were marinated very well. When I got to the bottom half of the wrap, there was a lot of oil dressing dripping out. The biryani was interesting. However, the boutine had too much of the red sauce making the dish off a bit. The chicken in boutine was well seasoned though. Additionally, my boyfriend also got a side of french fries in zatar seasoning. We did not taste zatar much in the fries. 4 stars is a bit generous but here's why- it takes a bit of nerve to open a "chain shawarma" spot in Windsor, and I even vowed to never visit one. Don't get me wrong, Windsor still has a few stellar Mom and pop shawarma shops, but a lot just aren't good or what they used to be. What I will say is there seems to be a really good selection of traditional as well as modern fusion dishes. Halloumi shawarma quesadilla, tacos, poutines etc. I went with a mixed shawarma bowl on fattoush salad. Wife got a chicken shawarma and we split some halloumi fries because why not!? Bowl had a solid amount of meat for the price, and hummus in there as well. Wasn't the best fattoush salad, more just lettuce and pita chips but whatever it was just the base. You can also get rice, rice and fries, etc etc The saj bread is cooked to order, pretty neat, a little chewier than the crispy pressed pita we are used to in Windsor, but not in a bad way. Wife liked the wrap, although the seasonings were again a bit different for her, but again not in a bad way. Halloumi fries were tasty, but probably wouldn't get again, although as mentioned halloumi would be a great addition into other dishes. Somehow "Shawarma Man" from Shelby's ended up in my reels. I was pleased to find out that there was a new location near me in Windsor. We made our first post-COVID trip to Canada just to try Shelby's. It was AWESOME. Worth the tip through customs. We had a traditional wrap, the biryani, and baclava. All were superb. Service was quick and friendly - better than you'd expect in a counter service restaurant. The Windsor location is at the corner of Huron Church & Totten in the former Starbuck's storefront. Try it!
