Eating Shawarma at this place alone makes the trip from Detroit to Windsor worth it! Chicken shawarma was so good I wanted to eat another, but was too full. Beef Shawarma was very good but just a little bit salty. Falafel balls were among the best. Tahini sauce was perfect to dip and this experience couldn't have been any better. Ordering was a little funky but it figures itself out once the guys get going. (It was dead and then suddenly 6 people were in line). Tables and chairs basically. I may as well be crying writing this poor review, but it's truly the end of an era for me here. This place was an institution downtown, and at least a weekly shawarma (or more) for me. I understand prices have gone up, but that does not excuse quantity going down, severely. Looking at my bill, I was just charged .50c for asking for Tahini on my $8.49 mixed shawarma. Apparently that's considered an "extra" topping? No lie it is probably about half the amount of meat, but now they're going to charge you for extra sauce and toppings-sorry new owners, this is not the Shawarma Palace it used to be. read more

So good. Came here 3 times in a 2 day stay, food is great, staff was incredibly nice and the late hours make it the perfect late night spot.

The food was ok, the guy working didn't seem to understand anything even though we were speaking the same language. A small shawarma for $8.50 is not worth it. Definitely better spots available. Don't recommend, save your money!!! read more

The shawarma is okay. They don't put much chicken in it, but the rest of the toppings are nice & fresh. Sadly neither the garlic or humus have much flavour. The A wrap is just $6 so for an inexpensive quick meal it will do the job. Next time I'm in Windsor I'll try somewhere else for a quick lunch. read more

I used to go here all the time and it was very good. The last two times I went right before the rush for lunch and it wasn't busy yet so they should have had time to do things right. Unfortuantely, the one male employee came from doing some work the back room. He did not wash his hands or put gloves on. he could have been cleaning, taking the garbage out, going to the washroom, picking his nose or scratching his butt, who knows... He used his bare hands, picked up the pita bread and started going through the toppings. Then he rang the guy through and still didn't wash or put gloves on. Needless to say, I changed my mind and did not but anything. The second time one guy had one glove on but that was on the hand that he held the knife with so it sure as heck wasn't for the customers. His other hand had no glove on and again he held the pita bread and started going through the toppings and making the schwarma wrap without washing his hands and using his bare hand rather than the gloved one. A second male came from doing work in the back, didn't wash his hands and started handling the bread and toppings. Did we not just get through Covid? Did people not learn any hygiene? What is wrong with these people that can't wash or put gloves on? No respect. No manners. I don't want Hepatitis A, B or C, Influenza, Covid, E. Coli, Salmonella, dead skin, fingernails, dirt, etc. with my lunch thank you very much. To top it off these guys are not friendly anymore either. I will never go back again unfortunately. Why haven't I reviewed this place yet? I was introduced to this place by my niece who was attending UofW at the time. She and her friends would grab shawarmas after a bit too much drinking and it is conveniently located right after crossing the border from Michigan. Not only that, it is priced perfectly for students and other frugal folks and it also tastes heavenly. You can get beef or chicken shawarma wraps or plates with rice or fries. I prefer just the wraps with everything in it and toasted to perfection. Sometimes I order two for myself which comes to about $10-$12. Make sure you're not kissing or talking anybody's ear off because you'll smell of extreme garlic breath with no mercy. The chicken shawarma is my favorite. Recently tried the fried kibbee stuffed with meat and I wasn't a fan. It was overly dry and barely stuffed with meat and it cost $2 a piece. No thanks to that. Anyway drop by, delicious joint. I spent a few days in Windsor for a tournament and this place was located close to the Windsor Aquatic Centre, where the tournament was being held. The location is great since it's on Oullette. I came for lunch and it was busy which is always a good sign. They did an excellent job in moving the line fairly quickly. I decided to go for the lunch special: $8.99 for a Shawarma wrap, side and drink. I ordered the chicken shawarma wrap with a salad and drink. You get a choice of ingredients but I just asked for everything. They toasted the wrap and the chicken was delicious. Very good place! The food is not bad but their service is terrible. I have had several experiences in the past with the owner and staff being rude, talking down to customers which is why I stopped going to this location for a couple of years. Today against my better judgment I went with a friend on our lunch break and was yelled at and talked down to for trying to order a second shawarma because I "already ordered chicken". When my friend then went to oder he was yelled at because "his sandwich was already made" but we were ordering separately and he assumed we were together. We were the only two customers in there ordering so he wasn't busy. He then rushed making our sandwiches and when we returned to work all three sandwiches turned to complete mush and fell apart because he was too bothered to cook them long enough. I will never return to this restaurant and I will never recommend it to anyone after this final incident. There is a much better shawarma place with much better service just down the road, which I will be recommending to all of my coworkers over this place. Still serves a great Beef Shawarma! Only ever really get a sandwich and drink, never had an issue. Usually pretty quick too.

This is probably my favorite shawarma spot EVER. I used to come here all the time when I lived in Windsor and I still make a trip to this restaurant whenever I visit. I love their beef shawarma, I think it's the garlic sauce and the pickles and the moist shreds of beef that make the wrap so good! Located right on the strip next to all the clubs and bars, so it's the best spot for a bite after hours leaving the club scene..they open late as well, so always available. The quality of the food itself isn't the best, you can find much better, healthier and tastier options during regular hours, but it's the convenience of this place that makes it successful. I have been there on the grand opening and always been a customer since. Usually get the chicken shawarma which is their top seller, their wraps are huge in size and price is reasonable. Mustafa used to be the owner, a friendly and professional guy, not sure if he's still there or not..but whoever it is, the place is running well. I have been going to the palace since they opened. Once a week, sometimes more... the staff are all personable, friendly and quick to serve you a wonderful meal. For a quick, cheap lunch with great portions - this is the place to go! The meat is always fresh and delicious, the garlic sauce and hummus can't be beat. I like to go right at lunch when the Falaffal is fresh from the fryer. I tried the mix shawarma meat platter it included chicken and beef, salad and potatoes or rice; with a side plate of hummas, garlic sauce, pickles and pickled turnup (I think that is what the pink things are) and a pita. It was really delcious. I also tried the spinach pie which was warm and fresh. The side of potatoes were drenched in oil, not healthy but tasty as hell! Definitely highly recommend this place. great place, but not the best i've had by any means. extra emphasis on the friendlyness of the owners and guys making your plate - that alone changes my rating of 3 for the food to an overall 4. they are extremely talkative and will let you sample anything you want. if you want "certain items" that aren't included by default with your plate (i wanted roasted cauliflower) they will happily let you have it. the meat itself was VERY small portion however. read more

Have been going here since 2009 when we first started looking for our home in Windsor. This is they best Shawarma in the city. We have the 5.99 special and are always so full afterwards. The garlic sauce is perfection! And I am in love with the lentils and rice. Yum! But I think What really makes the place is the owners! This would be another restaurant in Windsor where I have searched high and low for someone that can beat their food and there is no one! This is the best shwarma you will find. Period. Fresh, great toppings, well-prepared, quick service. It's all there. And the owner practically lives in the place (someone in another review said he's not there as much, anymore - not sure what they mean - I see Steve in there constantly). While I'm at it, I feel I must address some of the other negative comments: yes, the price has gone up over the years (it's called inflation folks). Try going to other shwarma shops, though. Oftentimes, a sandwich at these other places is, at least, $1.50 above what the Palace is charging. And to those who claim to be "getting sick off the food". Could it be that, since you were downtown, you might have been drinking alcohol before you went for your shwarma? Alcohol has been known to induce nausea! May want to think this through a bit before you discredit someone's business! I've never gotten sick from the place and have eaten there countless times. But I'm not a heavy drinker so that may be a factor! What impresses me most about the Palace is that it has been standing downtown for so long but hasn't lowered its standards. You can even tell that his staff is well-treated as many of them have been working there forever and there's very little turnover. Support this place, folks. This is Windsor's best shawarma! The meat is always fresh and cooking, I've been here many times in the past and seen them replacing the meat meaning they must go through it quickly and it must always be new meat. I sometimes think about how long meat has been there in the less popular shawarma places.... The display of toppings is organized in a very appetizing manner. The glass is clean, the counter is clean. I like to get hot sauce on my shawarma and my husband likes how they warm up the shawarma on a grill to warm the bread. I am not sure if they still do this, but I wish the potatoes and rice would be heated on the steam line and not in the microwave.. They put Styrofoam plates in the microwave which is bad for your health...this was a few years ago perhaps they have stopped that. Overall they make an amazing shawarma and prices are good. I missed the ordering, I did get to be teased by the aroma and all the raving going on at the table. I had to try this place out. I found the place and did a to go order and dragged it back to the hotel. I again was teased by the aroma that filled the car. I just finished them and they were AWSOME! I love garlic and wow. The place is very neat a spacious. The staff was AWSOME too. As what I wanted was just served 11:00 am to 2:00pm the girl working front counter talked with cook and they fixed me up! Only bummer is being a traveler they do not take Amex so travelers be prepared to whip out some cash as they do take cash! Defiantly will return on my next visit to Windsor. Every time I come to Windsor to see my boyfriend, we always come to eat at Shawarma Palace at least once during my visit. The beef shawarma itself is heaven in your mouth. If you like spicy food, make sure to tell them to put hot peppers in your shawarma (definitely kicks it up a level)!
