    Ground Lamb Kebab

After we ordered the hummus appetizer our waitress brought us some complimentary lentil soup. The soup was delicious. The soup has some heat plus great flavors. The hummus was pretty typical. I ordered the ground lamb kebab. The lamb was a little overcooked. We had to find our waitress to place our order.

First time trying Turkish food. I never heard of this place before. But we were so impressed with the food they offer- we all get complimentary lentils soup with the Turkish bread fresher out from the oven. We ordered three appetizers: humus, grape leaves and Turkish Kunafa. They were all so delicious and the portions are very generous. Our main entrees are shrimp, mixed grill, and lamp shank. I must say we all LOVED our order! The owner kept offering us the bread whenever he has fresh ones! More than half of us needed boxes to take home! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was Sunday night, so they were not as busy. But I hope more people come out to support their business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We want to come back again for sure!

The food was absolutely delicious and an entree came with a ton of food so basically another dinner at home! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes are great with lots of seating and nice decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was nice and we got our food quickly with complementary lentil soup. We didn't know payment was at the front though but that was also quick

Sheesh is a must experience restaurant on South Grand! The restaurant has such a great atmosphere and the food is delicious! My favorite dishes are: Appetizer Combo, Grape Leaves, Beef Doner, & Mixed Grill!

Wonderful experience at Sheesh! Beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere. (Though the tables are a little short for tall individuals) Staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. We didn't need a reservation for 6:45 on a Thursday night. The lentil soup was a perfect starter. The combo appetizer was delicious with the red pepper spread being my personal favorite. The falafel was just right!! Would definitely recommend the lamb shank. It comes with tasty rice and was so tender. Fell off the bone! Will definitely be coming back!

This place has so much potential! They have some incredible food like the Mixed Grill and the Ice Cream Kunafa that I would definitely recommend. But they also had a Lamb Biryani that was just a leg of lamb over rice (they include other things on the side too which will be in the pictures) and was not seasoned well compared to the other meats. The service was a bit sporadic as they seemed to be a bit disorganized. The ambiance is great homage to the culture and receiving a lentil soup upon arrival was a nice touch reminiscent to Arabic hospitality. This place could easily be a 5 star place with just a few tweaks!

Great ambiance! The light fixtures and whole setup of the restaurant made you feel like you were not in St Louis. The staff was all very nice and we got our food within a reasonable amount of time. I felt like I got a fair amount of food for my meal except I didn't get that much meat on my entree which would have been nice to get a little more. There was lentil soup and zucchini soup that both came with the meal which definitely added value to the 17.99 pretax price point. I got the tawuk and it was very savory between the well prepared chicken, the rice, and the cream sauce that was served with it. Lentil soup was also very good - was a good level of creamy and had a small kick to it. The zucchini soup was alright but nothing to write home about.

Ahhh I've really missed Middle Eastern food! This place has the food, the ambiance and the service! The food tasted just as I remember. I lived in Adana, Turkey and they had an Adana Kebab on the menu so I had to try it. I was so impressed with it!!! They even offer the full tea and Turkish coffee presentation! I was wowed by this place and can't wait to come back!

Wow. We've ordered Sheesh a few times for carry-out, but to have it at the restaurant is a totally different experience. First off, the restaurant is beautiful, and they have a wonderful outdoor patio where we sat last night. Second, everything is served on the most beautiful Turkish dishes that were imported from Turkey. We began with a lentil soup that was so flavorful and balanced that I could have eaten just that and have been plenty satisfied. We then had the hummus, labneh, and baba ghanoush trio served with their bread, which is almost pastry-like. Delish. Entrees pictured were all to die for. For those of us less familiar with halal restaurants, they do not serve alcohol here. The food is so delicious, however, that it deserves to be the star and sole focus!

Sheesh is a Turkish restaurant located on S Grand. It's very ornate inside. Great built in seating areas create a nice atmosphere and they add all types of ornate tableware to bring it together. Great for groups and shared dining experiences. The food is tasty and the apple tea is good too! Service was a little slow. We had to call our young server over for every part of the service, but we enjoyed ourselves. They provide a large complimentary bowl of lentil soup. It is delicious, but way too much before a meal. A small cup would be better. They also include an eggplant stew and large cucumber salad with the meals. It ends up being soooo much food. I hope they aren't losing money on all of the extra stuff. Good food and atmosphere. Recommend! .

Me and a friend 2 of us went for dinner. Food was tasty but there was a hidden gratuity which we didnt notice. For our first visit we added additional tip in cash on top of 20% gratuity they added. Second visit : they added 20% gratuity again for a table of two without prior informing us. We paid without checking. While leaving i asked the bartender(white lady) if its what they do everywhere. She told me they include 18% gratuity even for one person. So i walked away but when i checked their menu online it says 18% gratuity for table of 5 or more in my case it was 20% for 2 people. I believe because we were brown skinned they just thought bad tipper or whatever but still wither its prejudice or scam. I declined paper receipt option or else i would've posted it here. Absolutely horrible experience. I have few complaints about the food and how they are always out of desserts but i will leave that for someone else to write about.

I spent the evening on the outdoor patio with a hookah, and it was genuinely one of the more pleasant ways I've spent time in this city. The setting is perfect for it: the neighborhood has a calm, almost European energy, and the restaurant leans into that with its outdoor setup. The hookah was smooth, well-prepared, and the service was attentive without being intrusive. I didn't get to try the food this time around, but the place has the feel of the real thing. Great food and an inviting atmosphere inside and outside including a huge patio for diners and a separate indoor Hookah room in the back away from the diners for those who wish to partake. The ambiance inside was like a cozy cafe with Mediterranean vibes, especially at the register. We were seated and already knew what we wanted. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, and the mint in the lemonade was refreshingly delicious. For my meal, I opted for the Chicken and Beef Combo. The grilled chicken kabob was incredibly tasty, and the beef kabob was bursting with flavor. It was served with rice, grilled tomato, and a cucumber and tomato salad, all of which complemented the main dishes beautifully. The tzatziki sauce was some of the best I've had in the city. We waited around 20-30 minutes to get a table to accommodate the 7 people in our party. We stood around by the entrance while we waited. When we were finally seated, they put us on the second dining room which has a better ambiance and much more quieter than the main dining room. Someone brought us a pitcher of water which fell slightly short of giving all 7 of us full glasses. Some of us ordered their lemonade mix. I had the one with pomegranate which tasted fresh and made in house. We shared 3 different appetizers: babaganoush, hummus and saksuka. They brought us a basket of naan. They were huge and still warm. The only thing I would have asked for would have been that the naans be cut into smaller pieces so people are not touching naans that others will have to eat. Our appetizers were all excellent. The babaganoush, specifically has fantastic flavors. This might have been the best babaganoush I have ever tasted! For my entree, I ordered the lamb kabob served with some dressed rice and salad. Okay, usually I don't care for rice. It's bland and pretty boring but they actually seasoned their rice here so well that I've completely forgotten I was eating rice. The kabob was so flavorful like it has been marinating for a while. The meat was tender and juicy. We didn't do any dessert as we were all very full in the end. At least 4 out of 7 brought home leftovers. My one friend had made a comment about his pilau being larger than his head! Service was good. You pay up front. If you come in with a large party and ask to split the check, they charge $1 per card. We asked to have our bill split 7 ways and then 2, 2, 2 and 1. She said she understood but then did the math wrong anyway. We didn't bother and just paid the even quarter split and my friends refunded me the difference. Other than a few nuisances, it was a great dining experience. No joke, this place has some seriously good eats. And to be honest, I can't wait to come back!
