Stopping here is a must for us when traveling through! They have the best chicken friend steak! Period! I don't even let anyone talk to me when I'm eating every bite. I even had a tear in my eye with my first bite! Looking forward to our next visit.

The mango lemonade was decent, and I appreciated the free refills. I had the catfish dinner -- it was filling, but the Cajun seasoning was really mild and didn't stand out. The fried okra was probably my favorite part -- lightly breaded and extra crunchy, which I liked. The place itself felt like a lot of diners I've come across while living in the Southern U.S.-- a little rundown and nothing that really stood out. Prices were surprisingly high for the quality, which made it feel a bit underwhelming overall. Not a bad experience, just not a place I'd be in a hurry to return to.

Upon the suggestion of a colleague, I had lunch here. Unbeknownst to me, the restaurant had a variety of changing daily specials ($8.99), so I tried their special that day; chicken stuffing, with two sides: homemade coleslaw, and greens with onions and ham. (The restaurant had delicious side items that weren't listed on the menu, so be sure to ask for them!) It's really amazing the variety of flavorful foods that this little, family-owned, restaurant served! My meal was so delicious and filling. My waitress also gave me a choice of three different gravies to go with the chicken dressing: brown gravy, white gravy, or giblet gravy. I went with the brown. Also, my meal came with a tasty pop-up dinner roll. It would have been even better with real butter, but all that they had available was margarine. :-( The service was slow, but gracious, patient, and kind. But what else seems to be new these days? I at least received a couple of refills of my unsweetened iced tea, and a free to-go cup of the same. The most astounding thing about my lunch came at the very end. Their homemade apple pie is to die for! Wow. I've not had such a well-balanced piece of apple pie in several years. At $4.99, it was worth every penny. If I lived closer, I would call them and have them make a whole pie for me to bring home. It's that good. Obviously, I will continue returning here. I'm looking forward to trying their breakfast items! Also: Their current hours of operation, as listed on their electronic sign, located directly in front of the restaurant: Mon. through Wed.: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thur. through Sat.: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays: closed

Came here for a quick brunch. Family owned restaurant with a classic American brunch, diner and grill menu. Steak: had the top sirloin with two sides of sweet carrots and grilled veggies (also carrot, then broccoli and cauliflower). Steak ordered medium, came medium, a bit tough but understandable given it is top sirloin. Could use a bit more seasoning. Sweet carrots was a let down. Thought it would be just plain baby carrots with natural sweetness, but they bombarded it with some type of syrup, making it like a sweet-pickled carrot. Not for my appetite. Grilled veggies were overcooked. Breakfast sausage: tasted standard, but burnt and overcooked.

We were looking for some fried catfish, and Sheba's had great reviews, so we gave it a try and were not disappointed!! The fish was hot and crispy, just like it should be. We also got loaded fries, which were also great. Definitely a great local spot to eat!

Stopped in here for breakfast, before hittin' the road, and because breakfast is my FAVORITE meal of the day! The waitress was young, but stupendous. She didn't write the order down, but got it all exactly right. AND, the crispy bacon I asked for came out CRISPY! I can't count how many times this has NOT happened. The food was okay, not great. The menu offerings were pretty limited. The building needs help. Prices were reasonable. AH, the coffee? Pretty bad actually. Maybe it has to do with the water? Not sure, but NOT good.

Entered this small town to spend the night. I wa3snt looking for much. Didn't want mexican dishes, but i saw this place was managed by a hispanic family (I think). Me and a friend tried it out. For this area, this site has great food (nice sized helpings & HOT!) great service, and i have no complaints.

I ordered the Chicken Curry and Loaded Fries through Waitr...and I was not disappointed! Super tasty and full of flavor.

We discovered them about 8 months ago while traveling through, needing some less processed options than typical eatout food, and tried it. Sooo glad we did! So now that we're in the area again we knew this is where we wanted to go. We even ordered extra meals to take with us for tomorrow! Ignore the lower star reviews bc they have nothing to do with quality (and no, the food is not bland)! If you want fancy highly processed and over seasoned gut burning food, don't go here - go to an impersonal restaurant serving commercial processed foods. Mother Kelley's is true homestyle flavors, meaning it's not fancy but it's home cooked comfort food (real ingredients) like my grandmother's was (mid 20th century); you'll love it!

From sitting down to the moment our group of 6 was kicked out by the owner, the service and overall ambiance was not right. For starters the waitress struggled with taking orders for our table. A robot brought us part of our order and a human never acknowledged that part of the order was missing. Human missed request that had to be repeated, human missed drink orders and made excuses to why they weren't timely. When bringing requested extra plates to the table there was a greasy substance still on the plate. Though other tables received their drinks that arrived after us, it just didn't seem right. Let's go further , the food was received cold and not warm to touch. The drinks never arrived and waitress never noticed , though we pointed out to her and others. Well after requesting a box for leftovers , that was hard to get from the waitress. It was almost comical that nearly every aspect of this visit was a terrible experience. We were from out of town and shocked a business could run as this was. We asked for the manager and was told she was on Vacation. Then told the owner was coming over from another restaurant they own. WHAT?! NO WAY two restaurants, they can't be managed the same and survived. Well we had a discussion with Bert and he asked where we were from, told us how busy they are. PSA: we were the second group of people in the restaurant at 9:15. The city of Magnolia has had this Cookoff for over 30years. I would think he should've prepared differently. Bert then told us..."I don't appreciate your Sh!@y attitude" "yall need to leave and don't worry about paying for the meal". Well our group dispersed and was soon to leave . I had more questions for Bert. I confronted him over the counter, before I could get a word out he said " I'm done get the Fu&? out of my restaurant and never come back, I don't want to see any of you ever again in MY restaurants. " then he proceeded to say, if you don't get the Fu&? Off my property I'll call the cops" This was in ear shot of our group and others at the restaurant. Well here we are, a very dysfunctional staff and owner and clearly not a fan of calm constructive criticism. Sorry Bert, and he should never act that way in front of our group and especially our wives. Do so much better Mule Kick!
