OK let's talk local Texarkana! I came looking for something and chose Pop's Place. It was about a 10 minute drive from our hotel. We got close and Waze had us make a turn on Harris street and my wife panicked. It did not look like a journey meant for us. I proceeded to our destination and the parking lot was packed. We walked in and were greeted and seated. It was a hot day and it was open air seating. It took our bodies about 15 minutes to adjust, and become comfortable. Our server was Edward aka Bubba. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer, and were given a very generous portion. Bubba also added a complimentary crawfish and grits dish that was awesome. My wife ordered the fried catfish , and ordered the blackened Mahi. Both dishes were prepared to perfection, and presented tastefully. We received our order in a very reasonable time. We wanted dessert but they were out. Check this out though, when they do have dessert it is on the house. At Pop's Place the prices are very fair, the portions are over the top, and the service was on point and very hospitable. If you are in Texarkana I highly recommend Pop's Place. read more

We are newer to SE Arkansas (Nashville) and been meaning stop in and give Pop's a try. We were not disappointed. The place just has a cool vibe about it, from the outside dinning, decor and although it was packed neither felt or sounded like it. The staff was great from the time we walked in and server Maddie was EXCELLENT! We were "Those" costumers that asked to move and they accommodated without an eye roll or anything . We both ended up getting excellent cuts of filets that were cooked just right and seasoning was dialed in. As for the sides, my Cajun corn was darn good, my wife's sides were the twice baked and asparagus, which she said were very good. She also had the Peach Bellini, which she said was @Pretty Damn Tasty" ! Then unexpectantly to finish, they bought us a couple small cups of bread pudding - you can never go wrong giving a fat guy some bread pudding and it was good and finished us out! Over all excellent experience and great night.....we will be back to try out some of the other food and few of the Bourbons they have. Thank you read more

We have been waiting so long to try this place! Hubby & I picked this as one of our destination restaurants while on Christmas break as it's kinda far away from our farmhouse, like 3 1/2 hours away. So, we finally got to try it & boy was it worth the wait!!! The "Pops crawfish grits" was everything you want in a lightly spicy creamy crawfish sauce & the white "grits" or "creamy polenta" that comes with it, are creamy dreamy yumminess on a plate! GET IT! :)... LOVE LOVE LOVE this dish! We even got one to go! In fact, we loved it so much we even got it as a side to top our steaks !!! And the STEAKS are WOZA! Hubby got the ribeye, he said it was the best steak he has ever had. The sides were even amazballs! We both got the twice baked potatoes they were really good, with a really great flavor. Hubby got grilled broccoli & I got grilled asparagus. BOTH were grilled to perfection. That is my biggest complaint usually. Restaurants that can't make veggies correctly. No worries here, both our veggies were cooked perfectly. YUM! :)... Moi got the filet mignon with the twice cooked potatoes & grilled asparagus & a side of the crawfish sauce to top it with. Best dish of my LIFE!!! :)... My filet mignon was a giant hand cut baseball size "french cut" it was charred so beautifully on the outside and it was completely medium perfection on the inside!! The flavor of the mesquite char was Outstanding! We go to a LOT of steak houses and this was the best steak I have had. The best dinner we have had. Completely flawless. A perfect dinner! A "flamboyance" of flavor! LOVED the healing spirit of the Pink Flamingos EVERYWHERE! The Best Flamingo Christmas tree I have ever seen! The service was excellent, everyone so friendly! Trying to find a restaurant that is good when you are out of town is a gamble, but this gamble paid off when we walked into Pops Place. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but when you walk in they have Christmas lights inside and it opens up to a large seating area. Also an outdoors seating area if you want to hangout and sit by the fire. The service was great! Our waiter checked in on us multiple times. Took great care of us. Appetizer: the chips and salsa taste so good! The salsa is homemade! Entrees: Smartinis chicken sandwich - Grilled chicken with bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo served with our fresh-fried potato chips. Has a bit of a kick! 5/5 Mesquite grilled chicken breast - you have three marinades to choose from teriyaki, lemon-pepper or Italian. Wife opted for teriyaki and loved it. 5/5 Bacon wrapped filet mignon - grandparents loved every bite! You get two sides to choose from. If you are driving through or staying the night. Was passing through and found this gem while searching for cajun and or seafood. We had the etouffee with fried catfish which had potatoes and corn on the side. Catfish was fantastic!!! The etouffee and catfish combination went together really well. The etouffee had some spice to it, but was not overbearing. The corn and potatoes were spicy as well, but not too strong, just a little hint to know there is spice there. After dinner we had some samples of bread pudding and that was really good as well. As first time visitors we received a complimentary crawfish and grits. Just a little bit off of I-30 on the Arkansas side. Service was prompt and friendly with a very laid back atmosphere. We were visiting from Dallas and were looking for a local spot for a steak dinner. Looks like a cool place to hang out, had a very eclectic vibe. They were a little busy and a little short staffed but totally worth the wait. This was quite possibly the best steak I've ever had. We got the sirloin and ribeye with baked potatoes and grilled broccoli. After trying both, I'd recommend going with the ribeye it was cooked perfectly with amazing flavor. read more

On the way from Austin to Memphis. Saw this spot on Google and was immediately like we have to stop. First I love a mom n pop place, with no frills. Took a quick pit stop; when we pulled up the decor was welcoming and you could tell a local fave. Our sever DJ let us have the crawfish n grits as a free app as we told him we were first timers; it was divine. We had the sirloin with sides and everything tasted amazing. Best $23 sirloin ever. Our new favorite hang out spot. Easy to find, plentiful parking, outdoor covered seating and lots of fans to keep you cool. Or giant space heaters for when winter rolls around. They start first timers off with their soon to be famous crawfish grits. You might never order something like this but once you try them, you will be hooked. We had the fish and chips as well as the small ribeye with their twice baked potato. The ribeye was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Perfectly cooked and super tender. What a great find, thanks to Yelp! Something for everyone on the extensive but manageable menu. I had the boiled shrimp appetizer, small salad with blackened ribeye - all of which were very tasty. Everyone was very friendly, and the wait staff very active, I had three people check on me in passing even though they were not my actual server. Atmosphere is very casual.
