I use to come here a lot as a kid and it had been years since returning. The place has not changed much in all of these years (which is a good thing). It's a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. The interior is very unique and really fits the area it's located. Honestly, one of my favorite things. The service was great. However, or server was a bit busy and it did take a while to get our drinks (she forgot, but apologies and made it right). Food was phenomenal. You get a ton and well worth what you pay for it. Was in town visiting friends, they took me to dinner here and gotta say I was pleasantly surprised by everything, ordered catfish and coleslaw with pinto beans and everything was great, the breading on the catfish was delicious and just the right amount, coleslaw was fresh and delicious, and the pinto beans had the perfect amount of spice, loved how the place is tucked way back into the woods and the scenery outside was amazing read more

For a restaurant that has been in business as long as these folks I thought they could do a much better job at frying fish and shrimp. I've had better at many gas stations, truck stops, and convenience stores. Very disappointed. read more

We have loved this place for a very long time. The food is amazing. The atmosphere is very very cool. Staff are always so nice.

Second time visiting since they reopened. Fish tasted "fishy" to me, although others in our party didn't seem to think so as much. Service was meh - they were busy, but server did not come back to check on us unless we called her to the table. I wasn't that impressed, considering the price and the drive. Used to go to this place back in the 90s and it closed some time after I moved away. Went back for the 4th of July to see the family and found it had reopened. They were packed just like it used to be back in the day. Catfish is still great and worth the wait. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Off the beaten path, beautiful drive and view of the lake. Restaurant has ample seating with view of the beautiful countryside and lake. Waitstaff attentive, courteous and willing to answer all questions. As soon as we sat down our waitress was getting our drink orders and bringing complimentary golden deep fried hush puppies to our table. These were tasty. Within minutes she was offering a choice of between two other complimentary dishes; a cup of Gumbo or pinto beans. We asked for her opinion and she commented that some of the staff liked to get a mixture of each, she called it Bean-go. We wanted to try it. She was right, both tasted best when mixed together. Gumbo had a tomato base. A wise cook once said, "tomatoes do not belong in Gumbo", but they can enhance the flavor of pinto beans. Crab cakes ordered were hot and fresh. The sauce accompanying the crakes tasted good, but I couldn't isolate any crab flavor in the cakes. My husband and I both ordered the deep fried shrimp with various side dishes. Highly disappointed with the deep fried shrimp. I guess we were expecting a crispy fried shrimp, but instead a thin tasteless flour breading coated the rubbery shrimp placed before us. While the outdoor scenery was absolutely beautiful and restaurant ambiance was enjoyable, the food fell flat. When I run across a restaurant that I did not enjoy, I make it a goal to return at another time and try something different. But in this instance, I can't justify the cost of the fuel and food for another trip to this restaurant. read more

Oh my gosh!!! Just had dinner with friends at Pier 27. This was the BEST food any of us has had in a catfish/steak house EVER! Wait staff was perfect and this place was PACKED! We're going back and taking more friends!!! read more

Compared to the old Pier 27 this new version is going in the right direction. Had the all you eat catfish filets fried and boiled shrimp. Impressed with it but filets need to be sliced length wise so they will cook evenly. Excellent service and taste read more

When I'm in the area I always stop in for a terrific meal. Pier 27 serves the SINGLE BEST catfish dinner I've ever had. I'm never disappointed. Always happy here! Well worth the drive from Texarkana and surrounding areas. read more

This is the best catfish restaurant, hands-down, in the Texarkana area. After 20+ years of frequenting the establishment, I was very disappointed in my recent visit. I went on a special low-price night for all-you-can-eat catfish. The place was crowded, they were short-staffed, and they couldn't keep up. Some people didn't get refills on fish. Give the restaurant a chance, and if you go on a special price night, you have been warned. If you drink alcohol, they only serve beer. read more

Hands down, the best all-you-can-eat fish restaurants in the area . The food is fresh, perfectly prepared and the service is good. The gumbo is excellent. This restaurant has good fried and boiled shrimp as part of their mix. Not the usual "all breading" and mushy shrimp you find at other places. You should enjoy the view of the Sulphur River through the large windows. read more
