I have a gluten allergy so it is sometimes difficult to not only eat out but to find a solid gluten free sandwich. My waitress took note of my gluten allergy on my ticket when I asked for the gluten free bread, and the chef made a special gluten free bread pudding! They were having a Dr Seuss day for kids when we went in, it was a great atmosphere! I had eggs benedict, absolutely delicious. Stopped by on a Wednesday morning for breakfast before catching a flight home. It was rather empty , having probably just missed the rush of people eating before work. Ordered the Tuscan Benedict. Originally brought out the Tuscan Toast for me but the waitress quickly realized the mistake and apologized. What a hidden gem!! Probably the best breakfast I have had in a long time! The eggs Benedict was perfection. Muffin was crunchy (so many places leave the muffin soggy), the yolk flow over the meal just as it should when breaking it, and the hollandaise sauce... OMG! The sauce is like no other... so good. This place was so cute and great food! We had a short wait, they were very busy on Saturday at brunch. We had guac and chips to start and it was really good and fresh. I had the Tuscan toast and it was phenomenal. Have never had a dish like this anywhere. My husband had the chilequiles and he said it was really good, too. They had a lot of downtown blocked off so it was hard to get to it. If you are coming from Arkansas, you have to drive around downtown to the Texas side to get in, just fyi. read more

Let's start with the Berry salad with vanilla, as described on the sidewalk board (see photo). A most unusual and creative dish, with a hint of vanilla and chock full of berries and veggies. I worried that the "vanilla" would translate into some sickly savory variant of melted ice cream, but what came out in a separate little cup was a light vinegrette with just enough vanilla to complement the berries but not conflict with the cubed chicken. (Trying my best here not to get the "eew, gross!" reaction I got when I described it to my wife. If you like entree salads, trust that this place knows how to do it). This was a last minute substitution as I had been eyeing the "pineapple upside down french toast." But since my cardiologist as of late has been eyeing me, I reconsidered. (Don't worry Dr. G: still overdoing the salt & sugar in other ways at other places). This looks like a newly renovated place (yes, you will be seeing subway tiles), the inside seating open with lots of natural light from the street, and an outside patio surrounded by old downtown buildings with walls that looked like Roman ruins. My dining companions had sandwiches and a Greek salad, all of which met with approvals. The club sandwich was remarkably large. A good choice at the heart of Texarkana, directly across from a big Scott Joplin mural. Went this weekend for brunch with two friends. We arrived about 11:15 & the place was crowded, but not packed. The atmosphere was fun, light, & airy! The staff were friendly! The frozen mimosas and all the food were delicious! Perfectly seasoned & very flavorful! The staff checked on us several times after our food was delivered. The homemade pop tarts were great! I recall stopping here back in June to have breakfast. It was amazing, but I was driving alone and was mainly concerned about the 4.5 hour drive to get home. Today my wife is accompanying me and we had brunch. She ha d a pick two option of Cajun soup and a chicken sandwich. I decided on the Pineapple French toast. Both dishes did not disappoint. My wife's only complaint was that she wished she had gotten a bowl of the Cajun soup because it was so delicious and hearty. The service was great and the place has ambiance for days. Had the OG eggs benedict. was heritage on the hollandaise sauce at first but it goes well with the rest of the dish, not too overpowering. i recommend getting the grits as a side, it pairs perfect with the benedict! prices are extremely affordable (although i'm used to california prices...). service was extremely friendly everybody was kind, although i've noticed it's like that all around this city. great vibe and ambiance perfect for a weekend brunch date for mimosas drinks etc. definitely will come back next time i pass through!! read more

I went there to pick up a delivery order and I was treated like I was vermin. I was told to go down a side hallway and sit and wait in the dark like I was some kind of an animal when I was picking up an order for one of their customers. There were tables with families (we were there with our four children), but there were also tables with couples and/or friends having brunch. I loved the atmosphere, which has French vibes and reminds me of a café we went to in Geneva, Switzerland. The manager/owner was also walking around making sure everyone was having a good experience. I would have given this restaurant a five star review until my last visit. I ordered an Egg Benedict that included fresh tomatoes instead of a toasted muffin which was delicious in the past. On this occasion however the tomato slices were rock hard and WHITE. The accompanying avocado slices were also unripe. I will go again because I feel sure it was a rare mistake. We love Benchmark and the owner, Jason, and expected nothing less than perfection dining here. The ambiance and attentiveness of the staff were very well represented. We sat outside and enjoyed the courtyard ambiance. The owner is always friendly and interacts with his customers. Food- we had eggs Benedict which was the best we have had in town! The English muffin was not hard not too soft, egg was poached properly, and the hollandaise sauce was a velvet consistency with balanced flavoring to complete the dish. We did have a couple tarts, which weren't the best thus would be the only downfall but minimal at best, and three poptarts. The poptarts may taste better if they were warmed since they were served chilled- may help highlight the flavor a bit better. Drinks- we had a bucket of mimosas and frozen mimosas which were fairly priced and clean tasting! No sunny D OJ here, definitely tastes fresh and looks fresh with the appropriate coloring.
