I had the blackened chicken salad which chunks of blackened chicken strawberries blueberries green apple pecans blue cheese on a bed of romaine lettuce with a raspberry vinaigrette. It was fresh light and delicious. My husband had the chicken fried sandwich. He declared it a real chicken fry. He enjoyed the gumbo immensely. Small town feel with the nicest staff. I tried a couple appetizers and they were phenomenal. The fried mushrooms were great. The batter was delicious on both the mushrooms and the fried green tomatoes. The mushrooms were also the perfect texture. The cat fish po-boy was just alright. The lettuce was a little soggy. The Natchitoches Meat Pies did not very memorable as well. If I came back I would probably just stick to the appetizers. Overall a good place for a meal with great service. read more

The food is amazing here! The service can be very slow at times but worth the wait! The owner was signing one of the nights we were there and it was a lot of fun. Our server Grace was amazing! She made sure we had everything we needed, especially because we had kids and the kitchen was very behind. The food took an hour and a half to hit the table but it was fresh and tasty. We had the fried mushrooms with ranch, the shrimp po boy and the shrimp basket. The sides were fries and fried okra. They gave the kid's complimentary ice cream for dessert and my husband ordered bread pudding, which he said was divine! I agree. A very cute, local spot. Our food was awful , the burger was burned, fried cabbage was un eatable! The beans were unseasoned and obviously out of a can. I gave a 1 star rating because the fried fish was delicious. We got the wrong salad first, then they brought us a shrimp bowl, twice, that no one ordered. The chicken Alfredo was flavorless and tasted like wet noodles. The garlic bread it came with could be improved. The hamburger steak was burnt. The mac and cheese was a little better than kraft. Finally the pork chop, that took longer to cook than anything else, was charred and as thin as a pancake when it came out. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise in a small town. With wide variety of southern favorites, this is a must visit whenever in the area visiting or passing through. Even a short drive from the nearby state park or from Hope is more than worth it. Even though dining in was not available, the service we received dining curbside at available tables was excellent. The dishes are simple, but done superbly. The po boy sandwich that I ordered was made perfectly cooked shrimp, and fresh veggies, but the shrimp were still the star of the meal. The skeeter burger was also very well prepared with fresh ingredients. Lightly tasted buns on both sandwiches were a welcome detail. If ever needing a good meal , with a friendly staff, give this restaurant a try. read more

Let me start by saying, this place is great! We stopped in after visiting the state park near by and we were tired and hungry. Everyone in my family said their food was great. But what I want to talk about is the Chicken Fried Steak (it's so good it has to be capitalized)! I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak sandwich and it is probably the best chicken fried steak I have ever had in my life! It was amazing! On top of the food the service was great - the wait staff was friendly and attentive. We normally visit the Fort Smith part of Arkansas when we come here but I will find a way to get back down to Murfreesboro as soon as I can. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! The waiting time is too long and didn't expect to wait for an hour for the food. Wasn't sure what's the reason but the restaurant is not packed. The service is ok like probably you won't be ignored but don't expected to be take care of that good. and the atmosphere is fine. We ordered the basket which included the fried shrimp and the seafood basket which included more seafood. If I have to wait for above an hour for the fried dish then probably we should be notified in the beginning. Maybe I am wrong but seems shouldn't take this long to me. Super slow service!! We came in for lunch on Sunday. Our party of 3 sat down at the same time as another party of 3. The others were greeted quickly. We were not. We ordered when they were already eating salad. By the time we were served salad (after asking for it), the others were long gone. Took us 1 hour 20 minutes for a simple meal. Our order was stuck in the kitchen price behind that of a large party. Food was tasty when it finally arrived. Place is attractive and looks like live music at times.
