My son and I went in for haircuts together trying a new place out. We had a special occasion at the county club and splurged for the additional cost of our usual discount chain place. The location is on the corner of Great Neck & Shore Dr. Find them in the strip by Hot Tuna. Parking is plentiful and the lot and walls clear. We made appointments which is a must. Holly cut mine, while Kim did my son. We were both very satisfied and my son is picky. They offer a 20% first timer Yelp check-in deal. Unfortunately I did not notice until after I paid. However, Holly did apply her 10% first timer discount. The shop has four-five hair dressers. I found the space clean and attractive. They do sell hair products too! Their main clientele is Women. I would recommend and hope to come back. The cost for a full service salon is cost prohibitive for children in my opinion. Great job! read more

When I walked in for my appointment today, I was welcomed by multiple staff members, offered a beverage, and loved the upbeat music selection they had playing! I felt comfortable with everyone (stylists and customers) wearing masks, and the beach vibe they have going is so relaxing. My stylist, Makaela, is always so easy to talk to, checks in to make sure i'm liking what's going on with my hair, and offers helpful suggestions! There was confusion about the time of my first appointment. I had scheduled 1:30 and confirmed 1:30 and they had marked 1:00. I showed up at 1:00. My stylist apologized but she had a 2:00 and couldn't fit me I. My appointments never take more than 45 minutes. The second time I showed up 5 minutes early and the owner got in a pi**ing contest with me and I walked out. I felt sorry for my stylist who was caught in the middle. read more

Edited to add: The owner Holly called me from a blocked number and threatened to "PRESS CHARGES" against me for posting this entirely factual story in a local moms group. She told me she "was going to refund me but now she's putting that money toward a lawyer" I went to Shauna Bandy at Shear Bliss and the first appt I booked was an "express partial" which I thought was a partial highlight just without the cut/blowout & style and I thought that was perfect because I'm breastfeeding so I could be back quicker/spend less etc. When I got there it ended up being only 10 foils which it DID say online and I missed, so totally my fault. (They didn't offer this service at my salon back in FL) Anyway, we did the 10 foils then she told me to really lighten up my blonde I should book an actual partial a couple days later. At the first service she did leave a strange spot of roots at the front of my hair but I wasn't too worried about that because I knew I'd be back in a couple of days. I just wanted an all over lighter/brighter blonde as it had been 4 months since my last partial. So at the second service she did all the foils then put the first toner on and started blow drying and said hmm this is too dark so we went back to the shampoo bowl and she scrubbed it twice before putting on a different toner. When she finished I said wow this is darker than when I came in I wasn't at all rude I just said it's pretty, just not what I was looking for. They all acted like I was not seeing it right and it was "silver blonde" and way lighter than when I came in. I ended up paying (and tipping) and leaving because she told me to wash with purple shampoo and the toner should come out and after the first wash I'll be "platinum" After I left she made a Facebook post aimed at me about people "nickel and diming" her work which I'm not sure how I did that by paying exactly what she wanted the first time and exactly what she wanted the second time. Since leaving that appointment, I've washed it a total of FIVE times in the way recommended by her and it's still grey/brown. I called the manager Holly and told her how unhappy I was about my blonde being gone and she told me she is not refunding my money because she "thought it looked good" I messaged Shauna on Instagram the first time with pictures and she told me to just keep washing it to get it lighter then a few days later I sent her the updated picture and asked her personally for a refund for the second service to which she blocked me then blocked me on Facebook THEN blocked my husband! She also made an Instagram post with a picture of my hair saying how lighting is everything (which I personally think may have been edited because even my husband asked me when I got home why I decided to go darker!) I'm not the type to complain like this but for a company and stylist to be totally ok with messing someone's hair up and not offering to fix it for them and then blocking them, I'm not just going to be quiet about it. All I want is my money back and to take my business elsewhere so I can be happy with my hair. I have never been so disappointed in a salon and their lack of customer service and professionalism. First is before she ever touched my hair next to the dark grey result pictures right after I left. These chicks seriously rock! I was weary at first, purely because I don't let anyone really touch my hair at all. However, I was so happy with my haircut that I plan on going back. When you walk in you can see that the atmosphere is nice, and during the length of your session you really get the sense that they truly have a passion for hair. Holly cut my hair exactly the way that I wanted. I seriously recommend this spot! P.s. They have weirdly delicious natural soaps and lotions you can buy, and I adore things like this. I am a recent customer to Shear Bliss. I have been driving by for quite a while and finally decided to make an appointment. My stylist was the owner Bliss. She was amazing. She listened to what I wanted and had some suggestions for me to get the most out of my experience. So glad that she did. I had my hair colored, some high lights and a trim. First off let me start by saying that this place seemed amazing in the reviews and granted some experiences are better than others my experience was awful. Holly the hairstylist that did my hair seemed nice and she stated she had 15 years of experience...... I showed her a picture of what I wanted which was a partial vs full highlight and then talked about color options our consult lasted about 10 min 15 maybe. Take in mind I do not do hair nor I know the techniques of what is trending . Once she washed out my hair and dried it I realized she had done an ombré not what I wanted she asked if I was happy at the end of my appointment I should have said NO but I was mortified of what k was looking at in the mirror I wanted to get out of there fast . Once getting home I called and said this isn't what I wanted I showed you pictures etc. I was being trusting at this point she agreed to fix it later that day once I arrived I don't know if she wasn't getting what I wanted or if I wasn't explaining myself correctly but I had pictures to show her what I was talking about SHE AGREED SHE did not like the hair either and went on to tell me she never liked the ombre look . (Then why let me walk out with orange hair ) she weaves through partial highlights in the darker pieces and I figured after the second conversation where we discussed things in depth she understood what I wanted . Once my hair was washed I realized this place was not for me and she didn't get it . She asked if I was happy again and I shook my head and when it was all said and done I did not want to speak up and say no this isn't what I wanted because she was going to damage my hair even more than it was. Fast forward 5 days I hadn't wore my hair down at all and was dreading being seen by anyone. I called and the salon and requested my money back and they stated they had a policy of once they try to fix it they can't refund you . NO ONE I REPEAT NO ONE ever stated a policy to me because of that was the case I would have taken my money else where after a long phone conversation she offered for the same stylist to go back and fix it I said no at that point I didn't want more damage . They refused to refund my money and stated WE WOULD JUST NEED TO PART WAYS I can't believe the customer service and the lack of professionalism from HOLLY the stylist here . What a cute little salon! Tucked in next to Hot Tuna, it has a really cool beachy vibe. I got to the salon a few minutes early, and Wendy welcomed me a few minutes early for my appointment. After a discussion about my desires and her assessment of my hair, she made recommendations for what she could do to get my hair to the color I wanted. I could tell, right from the beginning, that Wendy is passionate about her profession, especially color. When all was said and done, my hair looks better than I could have hoped. In the past 2 months I have come here for extensions and coloring. Holly the owner was my stylist. My first visit she made my hair YELLOW. Previously my hair was a white blonde. She put beaded extensions in my hair. Fast forward a month. My extensions are falling out and I have bald spots on my head. I'm told this is because I have too much oil on my head. Okay. I bring in tape in extensions. They are applied and they fall out the same day three hours later. After I pay $250. I'm told by the owner HOLLY if I buy new hair she will reapply for free. The next day she says she will be charging me to reapply. The salon is bogus. She has no idea what she is doing in regards to any kind of extensions. I'm suing the salon. I'll keep everyone updated! I am very unhappy with my cut. I went to see Samantha because she has curly hair and her profile made it sound like she was experienced with curly hair. During my cut she said she was just starting to learn about curly hair. Cringe. I asked for two inches off my length, not my layers, and I'm pretty sure I got two inches off both. I specifically said my had to be long enough to pull up into a ponytail. Well my layers are way too short and they fall out of my ponytail. The worst part is that the layers that frame my face are completely uneven. One side is chin length and the other is a good 3 inches longer (see photo). I would get it corrected, but I don't have faith that it will be done correctly and I'll have even more layers falling out of my ponytail. Love this place! Kim was my stylist. I walked in and we started right away. We talked for a few mins about what I wanted to do and she fully got it. We were on the same page. Once my color was done she did a cut and fixed my bangs that I cut myself. I'm super picky about how I like my bangs and she did them perfectly. She dried my hair and I wanted the color on my roots to be a little darker. She said no problem and fixed it right away. I will definitely be coming back here. I am always impressed in this salon! Melissa is awesome. After another appointment where the lady just seemed awful, she could've been in a crappy mood and needed a break before my intense wants. She was so sweet and patient as I explained that i wanted rose gold on the ends with mixed in wispy lilac color. Btw:my hair is a mahogany brown. Needless to say we went through photos and ideas and she brought up her own thoughts . I have relatives that are hair stylists and i know some things like you have to lift my hair to get that pastel color to stay and it may not with my cuticle like that. I left with gorgeous "melted" color and love for having a bit extra color contrast. These girls are so great. Such a wonderful atmosphere and good people. This place is amazing! I went in wanting a long bob. I explained to Melissa that I had started a new medication that made my hair dramatically dry. I told her how I styled my hair and that I enjoyed my length and basically let her take it from there. I was more than pleased with my end result! My cut was perfect and I loved how well she listened to my requests. She also recommended a new shampoo and conditioner which I use religiously now! I am quite disappointed at the quality of service that I received despite the rave reviews. I got my hair cut with Holly. I just came in to even out my A-line bob and get my hair thinned out all around since it had grown out a bit. She had asked me if I wanted to have my hair cut dry or wet which confused me. She then told me that it was going to cost me an extra $10 to receive a shampoo (yikes) so I opted not to do the shampoo. However, my hair is not pin straight when it is dry and she did not even use a spray bottle to wet my hair. It took her roughly 10 minutes to cut my hair and she pretty much did the very bare minimum for $25. And keep in mind there was nobody waiting at the salon. If I wanted a cut like the one I got, I would have got it done at supercuts for $10...I was expecting a little more quality and creativity. read more

Appointment started off a bit rocky. She was running about 30 minutes behind schedule, but she offered to have me reschedule or wait. However, once the appointment started, Krysten was nothing short of amazing. She went above and beyond. Not only do I have extra long hair, but I have a lot of hair. I had my haircut recently by a WONDERFUL stylist named Kyrsten. I have very thick, wavy/curly hair, which leads me to being very particular in who styles it. It is so hard to find a stylist who knows what they are doing. She is successful at getting the hairstyle you desire. She is professional, polite, and hardworking. I am honestly surprised at some of the negative reviews written about her, but to me it sounds as if these clients expect a hair stylist to read their mind. I have had Kyrsten color and cut my hair three times. The first time, I should have stopped, as she burned my bangs with a flat iron. The second time the color was wrong, and they graciously fixed it. The last time, she didn't foil it to the scalp so I was left with a growth line that was so noticeable when I pulled my hair into a ponytail. No conversation takes place about what you need, she gives you the color samples to decide on color. I had to go to another stylist, at another salon, to get my hair fixed. The new stylist showed me where my hair was cut asymmetrically with one side longer than the other. Sorry, I can't make this my forever hair place. read more

I was looking for a very cool toned ash/platinum blonde, and after a a different (nameless) salon turned my hair the complete opposite color that I wanted I came running to Shear Bliss. I had low hopes considering my hair was already extremely over-processed, and I knew it would be difficult to get the color I wanted; however, I was so wonderfully surprised! Melissa was very careful to take care of my damaged hair and still get the color I wanted so badly! I can confidently say she is one of the best colorists in the area and she really cares about each client. Updated review: I went in originally for color & cut. The cut was/is beautiful and the color was actually very pretty, just not what I asked for. I asked for a vibrant red and came out with what I called black-red, super dark with a hint of red in the sunlight. The color itself as I said was really pretty, just not on me. Like, I really couldn't pull it off. I'm super pale and it looked odd. Being the first time I had attempted to get my hair colored, I just figured it would wash out. So I washed it....sometimes 2x/day. And it faded...some. But still dark and still not what I wanted. So I found a guy who said he could fix it and set the appointment, and we talked, and he definitely got me fired up about coming out of a salon unhappy with a different color than I asked for. So I wrote a review, mainly so the salon would know I was unhappy, and I even sent it in. I honestly expected nothing. I was fine going to my guy to get it fixed, I really was. And the I got a shock. I was emailed back and the salon offered to fix it! At first I was like, no, that's cool, but I thought it over and said "what's the worst that could happen?". I'm so glad I gave them another shot. When I got to my second appointment I was sat down and basically given some basic hair education. For real, I know nothing about hair & hair coloring. Apparently, if you're unhappy with your color, the best time to get it fixed is within about a week. Who knew. Anyway, the stylist told me what she was going to do, and it sounded good so we went with it. She definitely seems to know her stuff. Like wow. She knows more about hair and coloring and all that than I could ever. But that's what you want with someone adding chemicals to your hair, right? Honestly, I kinda went in not expecting any miracles. I'd been told it would be hard to get the bright red-orange color from my black-red hair, so I really set my expectations LOW. I was super surprised with how LONG she spent on my hair. They were doing this fix without cost even though it was quite some time later (like 7 weeks) and again, I had low expectations. I was there 3 hours. She really tried to get my hair as perfect as if I was a paying customer, which was awesome. Anyway, the final product is done, and I honestly still can't believe it. It's basically the exact color that I went in there for in the first place. I don't know how she did it (she did explain it to me, but it's kind of a blur now), and that's fine with me, but my hair is a miracle. It was my 6 year anniversary with my husband so I left the salon and went straight to an early dinner with my husband. He was amazed by my hair, said it looked like it did when we got married (which was the goal!!). And every time I went to the bathroom and caught a glimpse of my hair, I just smiled and got happy all over again. Like really happy. I hope the salon doesn't hate me, because they'll probably never get rid of me now. Customer for life. Oh, and check out Holly, she's the stylist who "fixed" my hair. Although please don't take up all her time because I expect to be able to book an appointment with her too. :) Big props to the owner too! I was desperate for a touch up on my roots. My regular salon was booked and I was in need. I had heard of this place before from social media so i decided to get it a try, although nervous about doing so because having bad hair experiences just seems to be the trend for me. Anyways, I arrived and the customer service was good but then we got down to the real business. I have blonde hair and just wanted my roots done and to put some more platinum in it. In mid section I asked my stylist how long she had been doing hair and she replied with "4 months" and told me she went to a lower end hair school (comforting, right?) not so much. Well, I tried to stay positive but at the end after the shampoo my hair was green and grey. She told me that it will lighten up within the next few days and to come back if not. I opted to just wait it out to see what happened and as I suspected my hair did not lighten up and was stuck being green. I am in the military so green hair is not an option for me. Did not go back for the "touch-up" because seems to me it couldnt get done right the first time then there is no room to try and fix it. Called my other salon with a hair emergecny and they fixed it to perfection. Morale is the product was subpar at best. read more

I love coming here! Caroyln did my hair and it is absolutely beautiful! the colors came out perfect, and i love my copper peices!!!
