Came for a desperate cut, but also color. I wanted to remove a lot if this postpartum hair loss and to treat myself. However I don't know much about hair and techniques, so I really leave this all up to my stylist. I just show pictures of what I hope we can achieve and put all my trust into their hands. I will start off by saying they do have a small parking lot, which I'm so glad they do. Street parking and I aren't friends. I check in and am told what station I'll be at. There's a tray with her tools ready but they're sort of sloppily thrown about. A huge part of me really wonders if the brushes and combs were sanitized or were they left there like that from the previous person. I didn't see a way for them to sanitize brushes and combs, so that's been in my mind and bothering me. She also offered me a different tray to lay my bag on, but it was full of another persons hair all over, so I decided I'd just tuck it on my side. Eek. I mean I liked my stylist, she was nice, but I don't exactly love my hair. The haircut I find is slightly uneven in places, especially toward the front if I pull my hair forward, and I'm not sure if it's me still adjusting to the placement of foils but I'm not super wowed with where the color falls. I also feel the back of my hair is missing that pop of color versus the front where I see most. I sat in the mirror at home trying to find a way to style my hair where I like how it looks and I couldn't. Hopefully that changes in a few days. Based on the initial sanitation display of trays and me being the worry wart I am, I doubt I'd come back. Maybe this is the salon for you, but I just don't think it's for me. read more

Pristine, friendly salon in the heart of Ghent. I had been looking to tone down my problematic balayage (which faded from a golden brown to bright blonde) while simultaneously brightening my roots. Since I had recently moved to town, I was seeking a stylist willing to take on this challenge without having familiarity with my hair. Kimmy was incredible - took the time to walk me through all potential options and invited other stylists to check out my hair and share their opinions, as well. For the first time, I felt confident in my decision to NOT get a balayage. Instead, she simply applied a toner and we came up with a plan to gradually get me back to where I used to be (with foils and root touch-ups). My first impression when I walked in...very clean with a modern vibe. I was greeted warmly then offered a beverage by their staff during my short wait. And my stylist, Amy, was super friendly. Requested a popular style women's haircut. I had an appointment with a stylist, not a master, but not a junior either. The young lady was polite and friendly but was not confident in her abilities. When queried, she said she knew how to do the cut requested but needed extra time. 50% more time. But it's always good to give a person a chance. However, 84 min later, my cut wasn't close to complete and not close to the pictures I provided. She did not know how to do the cut. And, never asked anyone for assistance. My hair HAD to be redone and FIXED by a master stylist. I was there 2 1/2 hours, they charged me full price for original cut. I won't be going back. read more

This place is amazing for any person treating themselves and wanting to feel like super stars: 1. I went here to color my roots and get a trim. The process to make an appointment was easy (thanks yelp and AOC for the quick responses and accommodating me!). I first got my last choice for an appointment, but when the receptionist called to confirm me, she was able to change it to my desired day and time. 2. There is parking! Coming from Ghent, this is almost a must for me, especially on the weekends. 3. Katy, my stylist, was super sweet and made me look and feel beautiful. She was quick and did a great job! It helped that she went to my bucket place Santorini and made the time fly . 4. They also serve complimentary drinks and Katy made me a yummy cappuccino. 5. The prices increased but compared to big cities like Boston and Honolulu, the services were reasonably priced. A wash, cut, style and root touch up was $100. I knew when I found a salon that dedicated an entire section of their website to animals that I was headed to the right place. Booking over the phone was short, sweet, and simple. The biggest concern I had would be if bringing my 4 month old would be a burden. The girl over the phone (who I eventually learned was in the midst of her first day on the job) hesitated for a second and then after I heard a few reassuring, "no problem"s in the background, she confirmed it wouldn't be a problem at all... From the moment I stepped up to the door EVERYONE was kind and welcoming. Showered my baby with all sorts of love and attention, felt like a dang Kardashian for a minute. My biggest concern was if we would be disruptive, especially if she got cranky, but the support and love they showed us made it easy to keep Amelia happy and possible for me to enjoy my salon time too! Much needed pick me up. Lindsay = great conversation, with a speedy and fantastic hair cut. I came in with a handful of phrases and ideas in my head that included but we're not limited to: post partum hair loss, short, but not a mom bob, bang situation, and yes that is a green tint to my hair! Keep with my lengthy review- I have a point. I promise. I have had such a hard time in Hampton Roads trying to find a good salon after my awesome sauce hairstylist decided to take her craft elsewhere. Alas, I am super happy for her. I don't know if this is the drill for everyone, but whenever I go to a new salon I am placed with their new girl- which I get- because I'm the new client and they need to build up their clientele; however I always leave less than satisfied. I rather just bite the bullet with an ok cut and color, than revisit the same inexperienced chick 3 more times to have it corrected. I know stylists have a very difficult job, and with 15 salons in each shopping center, it's hard to compete, but if you can't do something, say so and give me to someone in the salon who can. The last salon I went to (I will not name drop because I believe it was a rookie mistake and I'm sure someone has had to have called her out by now) burned me by charging me $290 to retouch my partial highlights. And it wasn't the price of the highlights that jacked my total up- it was all the treatments she voluntarily put in my hair without my understanding that I was being charged for each one. I know with blonde comes toner, which is typically included in the price for highlights, but this was like every treatment and conditioner on their menu. I couldn't curl my hair for like a month. annoying. Annnnd now I review: So I scheduled my appt over the phone. Very nice receptionist who patiently worked with my extremely tight schedule. She told me the name of my stylist (whom I immediately stalked online to see if she ruled) and confirmed my date and time. When I got there, I was kindly greeted by the above referenced receptionist and introduced to my stylist, who was not who I was told on the phone- I'm thinking: oh noooo the rookie!! I wasn't prepared! but, as I was seated, I saw my original stylist. since I'm creepy and already knew what she looked like, I asked her why she wasn't doing my hair today. she said (sit down for this) SHE WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE STYLE AND WAS GOING TO WATCH AND LEARN HOW TO DO IT. oh my goodness... I think I heard angels singing, the choir, beyonce.... A miracle. A stylist who handed me off to someone with more experience. Glory. and props to her!! (side note: I saw her work with another client and she did a great job on their cut and color) I had Krystal. She was very nice and attentive to my requests. I showed her pictures and she totally knew what I wanted. and get this... you may want to sit back down... she told me the price for the color and cut upfront. tears of joy. And it was what I paid at the end! no funny business, sneak attack bank account sweep. Wow. I was already floored with my experience and she hadn't even touched my hair yet. Style, cut, color, everything came out perfectly. I also love their line of organic and anti-cruelty products. I will be back to purchase some once I'm out of my current supply. I was so happy with the turn out, I couldn't have booked my next appt any faster. I am practically counting down the days. bonus features! you can book online, their products smell so so so so so good, and the salon itself is absolutely gorgeous. also- unlimited sweet tea refills! I do love the south. They should definitely start serving wine though. that is a sure fire way to have everyone come back for their trim within 4-6 weeks. read more

She cut off all the dead ends and split ends that other stylists in the area had ignored which led to them to get worse! I was hysterical over having to cut off so much hair, but she gave me a beautiful style that didn't make me feel bad, and perfectly matched and framed my face. Mind you she had to do a ton of work to perfect it with me being natural and curly, She did an amazing job! This salon is amazing, they have adapted flawlessly to handling business during COVID-19 and the experience still feels as luxe as possible. The stylist I see is Tracey and she is absolutely wonderful. Her consultations are thorough and she asks questions as needed to make sure you're both on the same page. One of my favorite things about Tracey is that she treats every visit like it's the first even though I have been going to her for quite a while now. In the past I have been to other stylists that eventually seemed to care less and less about my services as time went on and we got to know each other better. I just recently moved to Norfolk, so at first I was a bit nervous about where to go to get my hair cut. Nevertheless, I chose a GREAT spot. They were very professional, the atmosphere was very stylish but not too "chickish," and everyone was very welcoming! I had the awesome opportunity to get my hair cut by Candace Pollard! She is very beautiful, very friendly, and did such an awesome job at walking me through what she was about to do with my hair. Everything that I had expressed to her that I wanted or didn't want, she totally heard me out and followed through with it! I loved that about her because I have often had many people who end up just doing their own thing on my hair after I have expressed certain things that I like or don't like. My haircut was a little expensive but totally worth it! You get what you pay for! I have long hair so $52 for a wash, hair cut, and to get it blow dried was not bad at all!
