BLACK MEN, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES COME HERE. I dont know any black men who do go to Hair Cutteries in the first place, but I was in need and needed something fast and nearby. It's on me for waiting the day before graduation to get a haircut but had I known it would be this bad I'd have done it myself. Booked online (the portal said an appointment was $17; I ended up paying $50). Showed up wanting nothing fancy, just a line up and a beard trim; I saw other reviews mentioning that certain of the staff were good with textured hair and so I went in optimistic. The woman who ultimately ended up cutting my hair did a horrible job. If Im the first black male whose hair she ever cut I would not be shocked. Lineup uneven. Patchy areas left along back of neck. A slight cut on my chin from the beard went uncleaned (I applied alcohol at home); I left covered in my own hair. Shortly thereafter ran into roommates on the street and they were shocked. The whole cut was about 15 minutes long, and as I said I ended up paying $50+tip (God knows why I left one; I will say she took the beard off so that's appreciated). My mention that I was a graduating student did not even warrant a congratulations. And now my hair looks worse than when I showed up. Thank God the gown comes with a cap. read more

I walked in today hoping for a summer curl flexi set and Rasheeda was quick to jump into action to creatively get the style I desired by hand. She was thorough, attentive, kind and allowed me to take a nap while her soft and relaxing touch went to work. The music playing was a relaxing vibe and overall professional. The service was good, my stylist was great but one glaring issue and that is that I was brought I via a series of texts from an automated system. When I asked that system the price for a basic men's haircut I was told the price would be about $15. When I went to pay the price was about $24. When I showed the lovely lady the texts between myself and Lily (the automated system) she was surprised and she did absolutely the right thing and called a HairCuttery help line that agreed to refund the difference! This was all good but when I addressed this with management of the automated system they were content to have simply refunded me but appeared to have no interest in correcting the error for the likely thousands of others out there, most of whom will not complain! I scheduled an appointment for a haircut and a blowout. Per their website, I expected a haircut + blowout + shampoo + conditioner. I arrived and they asked what I was in for. I answered with a haircut and a blowout. They immediately washed my hair and started straightening it. They made no mention of not having time for my service. Not what I asked for, but I'll let it slide. Half way through my appointment, someone else shows up to have a haircut with the stylist working with me. They quickly discuss behind me that I must have only booked a straightening add-on and this is my fault. They tell me to wait while she does this man's hair and they'll get back to me when they have a chance. So, I make it known that I have other commitments and I'll just finish my hair at home. They refuse to let me and sit me down to wait. I double checked my appointment and I booked for exactly what I came in for. When I showed them this, they explained how it's my fault for not checking their schedule to make sure they had time for me. On their website booking this service was easily an option and didn't give me the opportunity to "check if they had time between clients for me". They eventually got me back into the chair, about 30 minutes later. They finished my hair and charged me $72. read more

I love bringing my kid to Hair Cuttery! He absolutely hates having his hair cut, clippers ratchet his shoulders up to his ears. Super ticklish head. Very unprofessional! We were counting on our sons haircut today at 4 pm and they called and cancel the appointment at 3.00pm saying that the hairdressers(CJ is his name) clipper broke. This is my go to place when the person who actually does my hair is out of town. The place is kept pretty clean which is great. They usually have 3-5 stylists works at any given time so walk ins are ok but if you come during a rush it could be a problem. Make an appointment even if it's a same day one, it's a safe bet. Reasonable prices. Skill level of stylist are ok. If you find someone you like I suggest you stick with them instead of rolling the dice each time. read more
