I've followed my long-time stylist here, Katie. She's wonderful and really good at what she does. I don't think she's taking on a lot of new clients at this point but from what I've seen and heard, there are a number of incredibly talented stylists here who do wonders with color and cut. I like the location and find it as a fun excuse to come to Norfolk and shop around while here in all the good little places nearby. It shares the same parking lot as the Norfolk May's Parlor so - hey - when in Rome! It has it's own parking lot which can be crowded at peak times but there is also street and nearby parking if you have to overflow. The salon is large and open and modern with beautiful and clean spaces and a nice exposed brick. There are probably 20 stations inside for stylists. Bathroom was very clean and well-kept. It can get a bit hectic inside on a busy weekend day but the vibe is easygoing and staff are friendly. They sell plenty of product inside. read more

This salon gets 5/5 on esthetic for sure it's such a cute and homey feel! The chandelier when u walk in is every girls dream! The salon is very clean and all the stylist seem very friendly. The wash chairs are comfortable which is a nice touch compared to old school sinks that give u a neck ache post wash. Although it was pricey I loved my hair only complaint is I wish she cut more I said to my bra and she left it very long saying if she cut more it would ruin the bolyage (I thought you cut first then color but I'm not a stylist) all in all I love the final result just annoyed I paid $60 for a haircut when the cut isn't the length I asked for but hey maybe it's meant to keep it long! Def a great find as someone new to VA I will for sure be back the greenery mirror wall by the desk is also a super cute touch! read more

She was so patient and we had a great conversation, I left feeling like she was one of my friends. I went there the first time and I was satisfied and then the manager texted me asking about my experience and I said "ya know I wish I was a little blonder" they booked me another appointment in less than a week and made me more blonde free of charge. I went to G.Patton after a horrific haircut at A.O.C ,, the owner at A.O.C didn't want to help me. Of course I was extremely upset. I had been going there a few years. Anyway went to G.Patton, saw Macie, she is extremely sweet and extremely knowledgeable about hair. She spent 2 hours working on my hair. I have never been happier with any stylist before. She is extremely perfect, my hair is perfect. I am 64 and very, very picky. I have been to every up scale salon in Norfolk and va.beach and macie is a thousand times better than anyone i have ever had cut my hair before. I love her, I will never go anywhere else. read more

I have been seeing Camille for 6 years (we've been together a long time!) she is an excellent colorist who takes her time and does quality work, especially balayage, gray coverage, and vibrant colors. Logan has been my go-to hair stylist for about 3 years every time I visit family in Virginia Beach. Definitely worth the 1/2 hour drive from the ocean front to Norfolk. Logan takes the time to explain each product she uses in your hair and she is very familiar with every line that the salon carries. Her blowouts are by far the best I've had and I travel extensively for work, receiving blowout services all over the country. I made the mistake of getting a blowout from a salon in Va Beach on a Sunday when GPatton was closed and the blowout didn't last 24 hours. Not making that mistake again. Logan also cuts and highlights my son's hair and his hair has never looked better. I definitely HIGHLY recommend Logan at G Patton salon. read more

So this place has a variety of different hair stylists. How it works is that the salon rents out the space to many stylists and they individually have clients. For that reason, each of these comments are based on each person's individual hair stylists and is not representative of the entire salon. I recently moved here from California where high end salons are on every street. I would say that their prices here (from $15-25 depending on the stylist) was quite decent. Bruce was my stylist and I would say that for a simple man's haircut, he does a good job. He also has a flexible schedule so that works with me. However, you can always call or walk in and find a stylist that you like. To update this post, I just had Monalisa as my stylist and I thought that she did a pretty good job with my hair considering that it was a short hair cut. However, I didn't quite like how she styled it in the end, but that wasn't too much of a problem as I went home and washed it out. Another addendum. Not all the stylists take credit cards so either ask before hand if you call in or bring enough cash with you to pay for everything. Just had a haircut from Carla. If you're guy and you're particular about your hair... or even if you're not particular, Carla's the one to go to. She works pretty much everyday but mainly in the late morning afternoon times. She's excellent at seeing and achieving a style that works for you. A high praise coming from me who's pretty particular about my hair =) Most people have their schedules available at the salon, but if Carla isn't in one day, you'll have to call her cell phone which can be obtained by calling the salon's main number. Update: I had to temporarily find another hairstylist because Carla was off one day and I had Casey. She is also fantastic and has good taste for guys' hair. So if you're looking for someone to cut your hair, then she's your gal. She does seem to like short hair on guys and naturally cuts a very nice short hair cut. I'm not too pleased with the fact that G Patton has an answering machine but they don't seem to return your calls. Please if you are wanting to schedule appointment, you have to call until someone picks up otherwise you'll be out of luck. read more

Let me first off start by saying this poor review is *not by the quality of work which is why I am even giving this 2 stars. I had a good balayage treatment + haircut. I also sat in a chair for 7 hours. I got there at 10AM and left around 6PM , which is an all day event. *THE SALON needs to let people know TOTAL ACCURATE prices before you even start* (Not when you are halfway done with a treatment) The receptionist told me I would be spending around $300 for the treatment. I brought that amount of cash + extra for tip. I'm sorry. I debated whether to write this review because like I said the work of my hair was good. However, I definitely feel as if I got overcharged for the products that was used. I paid $450 for a balayage treatment + $55 in tip (because like I said the work was good and she worked all day on my hair) But, things should have been different. The stylist cut my hair first in order to use less product but I still ended up paying extra for extra products... What I got charged $185 balayage $80 Toner $65 Cut $15 Clarifying treatment $108 (9 bottles of B3 treatment) = $453 TOTAL *NOT including a tip* I was never told the full accurate price at the beginning. I was prepared to pay $320 and even that is a lot. The fact is I found out about the extra charges while the stylist was doing my hair * i already had half a head of bleach* so I couldn't say no. Quite frankly didn't think the extra charges were going to be so much, but the truth is she overused the amount of products she originally had. It wasn't until when I got my bill I was shocked. After being in a chair for 7-8 hours I was just hungry, tired, and didn't even have the patience to argue so I paid and left. BE UPFRONT & BE HONEST to customers. $500 is a LOT of money. read more

(That's why you never buy Groupon for hair services lol). When I called I spoke with a very professional gentleman that listened to me rant about my horrible experience at the other Salon. He got me booked for a perfect time to come in. When I walked in, I was greeted by a gorgeous young lady named Ashley. She looked over my hair and made me feel super comfortable! She was extremely gentle with brushing my hair and took her time fixing it. She was honest and down to earth. She was reassuring me all the way through the process and even offered to style my hair! I wish I had never walked into this place. I asked for a trim of 1 inch & no more than 1.5 inches, & Camille cut off 4 inches. She gave me layers in the front that make my daily hair management a nightmare. Sure, my hair will grow back...but 4 inches and getting it all back to the same manageable length is going to take months and months. I wish I could have my hair AND my money back. What a HORRIBLE decision to go to this salon. UPDATE: After spending 3 hrs in the salon following the hack-job Camille gave me, Sabrina solicited the help of her "most experienced stylist" to clean up the nightmare. It amounted to nothing because Camille did SUCH a HORRIBLE job. A month later, I still curse my decision to ever have walked into this salon. My hair is a nightmare EVERY SINGLE DAY. I literally hate my hair and am reminded every morning of how poor my decision was...and now my option is to wait another 6 months for my hair to grow out. Sabrina refunded me the money...but it means nothing since I have to live with the worst haircut of my life. Save yourself the misery--find another salon. I really appreciated the fact before we started i was able to tell her what more or less I was looking for, she told me her honest opinion (which I value in a good salon worker). Once we reached an agreement we started right away, unfortunately my hair reacted very badly to what we were doing. She immediately stopped and told me what was going on. She did not go further into the coloring but however she was soooooo awesome! She fixed my hair and I am 100% satisfied! She walked me through every process she was doing (which helped) and fixed my damaged ends! She took time to help me and was super understanding! This is one of the worst haircut experiences I've ever had. I'm very easy going so I just sucked it up but when I got the bill I almost lost my head. First of all the wash was painful and she soaked my back and then my hair color ended up being significantly lighter and will look terrible when my roots grow out which was something we even discussed because I'm military and leaving for deployment. Then when cutting my hair she insisted on trying to cut out a curl that has always been in my hair after I told her multiple times it was just my curl so now I have an awkward dip in my hair. Not to mention my one and only specific request was I need it to be able to go in a ponytail. And it doesn't!!!! And then I get to the counter and they charge me $265 that's outrageous. Can really recommend seeing Ashley Faurot at the salon. She's new to the area and building a client base so I'm happy to post a review. I was visiting my son and DIL and arrived from several weeks sailing with sun damaged hair, roots needing colour and Ashley did a wonderful job. She conditioned my hair, applied colour , tidied my split ends and was great company. She loves her job, you can just tell. This gal knows what she's doing with colour and cuts and I think she does make up too! Thoroughly enjoyed my experience and loved my hair after Ashley's skills. read more

I've been here a few times to a few different stylists depending on who's available, and never had a bad cut. What's disappointing about this place, though, is the front desk help: always blasé, indifferent, bordering on rude. I'd previously been informed that if a client is more than 15 minutes late, the salon will reschedule out of respect to the next customer. Absolutely fair. But when I wait for 20 minutes into my appointment for my stylist to finish with his current client and am not acknowledged by the stylist nor the from desk, I'm done. Thanks, G Patton. I'm just going to say it- sometimes, I've got no balls. If I don't like something, but it's something I can live with... I'll let it go. That's about how I can sum up my hair experience. As others have mentioned, the stylists here are renting the chair so the review is reflective of one stylist and not the whole joint. I'd like to mention this place is as hip as everyone says it is, and they're even collecting hair to help clean up with the oil spill mess. Way to be environmentally conscious. I had my hair cut by Jessica because she'd gotten ridiculously good reviews all over the internet. The great thing about Jessica is that I took in a picture of a style that I liked, she asked me why I liked it, and then made it work for my face. It was something I straight up knew wouldn't work for me off the picture, but she made it work and for that I give her mad props. The color is where my level of being impressed stopped. Jessica's hair is pretty streaky, and I'm usually resistant to getting my hair colored by someone with streaky hair, because I end up with streaky high maintenance hair. However, I didn't know what she looked like before I made the appointment. Always trust your gut, people. I ended up WAY more blonde than I asked for, and a helluva lot streakier (and unnatural looking) than I asked for as well. Jessica had made it more than clear she is willing to fix errors if the customer doesn't like what she gives them, but I got rather nervous that it would end up worse and it was something I knew I could work with so I let it go. For the low low price of 160 bones after tip I might add. I know I could've spoken up, but I'm ok with rocking the super-blonde for a few months. Party on. read more

I made my appointment with Jessica after seeing all the great reviews online. My friend had her hair cut by Liz the same day. At first we both loved our cuts. 2 weeks later I still had split ends all over the place, and my friend didn't like hers anymore either. Jessica cut my hair in an upward direction. I was very skeptical, but she said she was "texturizing" it and I had never had it done before so I said "what the hell? why not?" If my hair has a substantial horizontal trim prior to the use of this technique, it might have been fine. Well, I have wavy, frizzy hair and that type of cutting made my hair look even frizzier after I washed it a few days later. I went to somewhere else to have it corrected 2 weeks later. What a waste of money on the first cut. From what I remember, it was a welcoming atmosphere, and the stylists do consult with their clients for a good time before cutting. All the stylists seemed like they were happy to be there. I got highlights and wanted them to look very natural. The highlights came out great. I would definitely say Jessica did a great job of making the highlights look super natural. She was also nice and energetic. None of the stylists seemed rushed. Update: If I ever went back to Jessica, I would just say "Please don't texturize my hair". I would certainly trust her to color my hair again. However, compared to other local salons, G Patton is a little more expensive. While I love the atmosphere of this salon, I had a much better hair cutting experience elsewhere, and have been getting cuts there for 2 years now. read more

Wow! I was impressed. After a less than stellar experience at another local salon, I was nervous about trying a second new salon. I just moved here from Phoenix and the same stylist has been cutting and coloring my hair for almost 10 years. The owner of the salon, Glenn, actually did my cut and a partial weave. He did a great job, was super attentive, listened to me, had a great personality and is very talented! He completely fixed the bad job that another salong had caused and left my hair in great shape. And, the best part? The price!! Only $85 for the cut and the partial weave. I paid $125 at another place in town and G Patton is way better. Great atmospher too! read more

About a month after I moved to Norfolk I faced the inevitable decision: Where do I go for a haircut? After Yelping it and letting my friends be the guinea pigs, I ended up at G Patton and I never looked back! I'd been going to Supercuts for around 10 years before moving to Norfolk, so I was used to the $15.50 haircut with the mystery result. G-Patton might cost almost twice as much ($25 for a men's cut), but it's worth it to know you're going to have a perfect cut every time. My solution as a poor, in-debt student? Just get my haircut half as often! I've gone to a couple different stylists (one being Meg) and they've all been great, but I've ended up with Casey. She makes easy conversation (which is saying a lot from someone who usually would rather sit in silence during a haircut) and spends as long as it takes to get my haircut perfect. I'm a little hesitant to advertise her name (since it might mean having a harder time getting an appointment), but I'll take the hit for long-haired Yelpers of Norfolk. She's so good that I recommended her to my out-of-town girlfriend and now she'll only get her haircut when she's here to visit! The atmosphere here is very trendy, but not overly so. I could see how some men might feel uncomfortable, but I never feel that way. Besides, people aren't going to know where you got your haircut, but they'll know what it looks like for the next month! Bottom line: G-Patton is not the cheapest place when you're used to Supercuts, but it's worth it for the great result and a cool atmosphere. I'd recommend Casey for both men and women, but all are good from what I've seen/heard/experienced! If you're new or old to the area, do yourself a favor and try this place out for a haircut. Call ahead for an appointment, but they're not open on Sundays or Mondays. read more

I'm a couple months late posting this, but I still definitely remember my last visit here. I had gotten a Groupon deal for a haircut and color by Aaron Bowser. I wanted to get my hair recolored to my normal red color, since my roots had grown out about two inches and were pretty visible. I remember remarking at the time that he had gotten the color on very quickly; I didn't realize until I was halfway home why--he didn't put the coloring on the roots to sit first. EVERY other colorist I've ever been to puts the coloring on the roots and lets it sit for a few minutes, because the roots are much harder to dye than the hair that's already been colored. He simply put color on my hair all at once and let it sit. Well, predictably, the roots were a different color and were VERY noticeable once he started drying my hair; however, he didn't say anything until I mentioned it. He tried to downplay it at first, and then grudgingly agreed to apply a second color. He blamed it on the fact that I had used Ion hair color the last time I colored my hair, and called it a "color correction" instead of admitting his mistake. Anyway, the color finally came out evenly after the second coat, and then he went to cutting my hair. He cut MUCH more off of it than we had talked about, and it was clear he was rushing (especially since he had to take a lot longer to dye my hair). The rest of the hair cut came out okay, I should mention. The reason why he rushed through my coloring and cut was so that he could do his mother's hair, and he told me she didn't even have an appointment or pay. So he rushed and made a mistake on a paying customer's hair to do the hair of someone who didn't even bother to make an appointment. I honestly wouldn't be so mad about this if that was all; people make mistakes, and some aren't mature enough to own up to them. Whatever. However, then he charged me an extra $75 for a "color correction!" I wish I had realized at the salon that he hadn't let the color sit on my roots and that's why it was on so quickly; there's no way I would have paid for that. As it was, I was so stunned that I just paid it. A stylist at a salon like that should know better than to make a mistake like that, though. THE ONLY reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because I've been here once before to get my hair cut by Mikaela. She did a really fantastic job cutting my hair; she even got my bangs and layers perfect. Definitely one of the best haircuts I've ever had, and she was very nice as well. I would definitely recommend Mikaela, but STAY AWAY FROM AARON! read more
