Skye and her gals are spectacular. I moved here in 2018-2020 and found her initially for being an extensions specialist (I had tape ins from a different salon out of state) and once those were spent, I got hand tied extensions from Skye. They were incredible! I was traveling around as a travel nurse for about a year with them, and went to other stylists to move them up and nowhere did as quality of a job as Heirloom. We moved back to the area in 2022 and I was so thrilled to already know where I was getting my hair done, even though I quit the extensions several years ago. I have long strawberry blonde hair naturally, and love icy bright highlights and a dimensional blonde look, but (as we all can empathize) don't love the price/frequency of appts that come with it. Skye listens SO well and is able to understand what I want/need truly better than I do myself- they are professionals after all! For the past couple years I've been letting Skye do her thing and ending up with a dimensional/balayage/highlight situation and am ALWAYS obsessed with my color and cuts when I leave- she's a true blonding specialist ! And I can go much, much longer between colors which really saves me money in the long run- without sacrificing the bright look i love. All the stylists have great personal style but also a true artistic eye when it comes to hair. Their Instagram has lots and lots of photos and if the vibe fits what you like- this is the place for you! HIGHLY recommend! I lost my hair last year to chemotherapy and have since begun the grueling process of growing in from scratch and Skye has been doing my trims for me too. So, not only does she master a blonde coloring, top notch extensions and long hair, but can ALSO style/cut short curly hair? I am convinced there is nothing she can't do (even help me like this polar opposite look I have now for the first time). Went to this salon for 2 years and had mostly great experiences with my stylist until the last 6 months. I was unsure if there was continued miscommunication about what I wanted done. The first issue was a slightly short cut. I let it go since it was minor. A few months later, the second mishap happened. I had a bad cut and bad tone. The initial toner had gone wrong and my stylist told me this had happened to her the day before with another brunette. So she re-tones me. By my first wash, my hair was BRASSY. I had requested to be toned by another stylist because I didn't want my previous stylist touching my hair anymore. Keep in mind, hair services aren't cheap! The final straw was when the owner tried to tell me no one else could tone my hair because it would be a "free service". Although, she had been there when I initially got my hair done. She proceeded to tell me that I had "hurt" my stylist's feelings and that I would be way more respected if I was honest about previously not liking the job. I could not believe the lack of professionalism!!Ultimately, the owner agreed to re-tone my hair herself. However, at this point I was uncomfortable with anyone there touching my hair. Almost $200 dollars later, I had to go elsewhere to get my hair fixed. I'm giving them 2 stars because I did like my hair for awhile. However, I would suggest you go elsewhere if you're looking for dependable and professional ownership. read more

I would rate this salon negative if I could. I have been bright blonde, absolutely beautiful for about 3 years ( always in a salon) , decided to go back to my natural red on impulse, and used box dye, it came okay okay, not bad, not great, but it was doable. I'm about to leave for deployment soon, so my kids just left, my fiancé just left, and I'm already sensitive. I went into the salon asking for a natural reddish brown, to more match my natural color, and when she washed me out, my hair was bright blood red, ( I'm in the navy) so I cannnnot have bright red hair, which I expressed, she then put a toner on it and told me it would neutralize it, and calm it down, and it turned burgundy, she claimed it wasn't far off what I was asking for ( COMPLETELY OFF) and I began to cry when I saw it. I was so nice, stayed nice, and I even kept my cool, but the frustration built and built, and I broke especially with already being sensitive from my personal life. Again she assured me she would fix it, third time is the charm right? So I went with it, and I cried the whole time. I've never had a bad salon experience. And I paid. I left, and I sat in the parking lot having a complete break down. And when I got home I realized even my cut is wrong I have random long spots. And I have dye all over my skin, I have no idea what is happening, how we got here or what went wrong. I stayed so nice the entire time, even though I am absolutely burning from the inside out. I try to be the best person I can to everyone around me, and I have always been such a confident person. I was in search of a new stylist after mine had retired and sadly this is not the place. For the amount of money I've spent and the way my hair looks today after only having it first done 2 weeks ago is depressing. I'm sure the other stylists there are great. Sadly my experience was not so great and I almost feel robbed especially after being charged for the same thing twice now and it still doesn't look how I wanted. I feel like my stylist did a sloppy job and did not rely on using color and just used a wash out toner because the first time I went, my roots were turning orange after only being washed 2 times ( I do NOT use cheap products in my hair either). She went way too blonde the first time. Another go around to make my hair darker and I don't even know what was put in my hair now. There's highlights underneath my hair on only one side and it's just SUCH a sloppy job. The only plus side was that she was friendly. But that was it. I found them after almost 2 years of salon searching without achieving what I wanted - GRAY HAIR! . I have naturally level 1 dark hair (near black) and the struggle to lift my hair enough and reach my desired result never seemed to happen elsewhere despite multiple visits and well over a thousand dollars spent over that time frame. I'm so glad I found Heirloom. Kristy was straight with me and told me what a realistic process would be to achieve my desired result. Keep in mind I came to them AFTER my hair turned green from a previous attempt at another salon...Kristy took her time to look at the state of my hair, talk to me about what I'd done up to that point and what my goal(s) were. She tested multiple toners to make sure we were going to get to a place I could be happy with after my first visit and BAM! I loved it, felt I was FINALLY on the right track, and even spent less than I had at any other salon to boot! It only took 3 visits to correct my hair and get what I really wanted! If you know anything about lifting dark hair, color correction AND vivid toners you know this is EXCELLENT turn around. Also, I HAVE A LOT OF FRICKEN HAIR Y'ALL. I was suggested to go to this salon as I am new to this area and needed to get my Brazilian Blowout re done and people had said good things about this salon. I had super high hopes! The salon is very stylish, up to date, and clean. I paid about $400 for my Brazilian blowout as well as the products I bought to extend my blow out. My Brazilians used to last me at least 6 months or more after getting them done and I had hoped with the products I had bought that day that it would last longer. After one wash my hair was back to being extremely frizzy and curly. I'm from Missouri and back home my stylist would do my blowouts and I could wash my hair after one of her blowouts and my hair would be dang near stick straight with a tad of a wave. My hair is still extremely curly underneath as if there was not enough product used. I warned the stylist from the very start I had A LOT of hair and she was to be the most experienced one in Brazilians. As she was doing my hair a lot of the other employees were standing around and not being professional as well as talking about other customers or mutual people that they knew. I now have to find somewhere new to get this blowout RE-DONE and probably pay another $300 to get this job fixed. This blowout was 100% rushed and not enough product was used for the service I paid for. I was hoping to get my color done here but now that my Brazilian couldn't turn out right I won't be returning. My hair looks the way it did when it started and I received this service a month ago. When I walked in the woman at the front desk was extremely rude and did not even great me she looked up from her phone asked my name and went back on her phone. My experience here was less than what I had hoped. Also, I never used to have to style my hair after getting these done I could leave it natural all the time for the entire 6 months unless I wanted to style it. Now I have to style it every single day I don't have a choice. read more

I find it very telling that, rather than responding to my review with an apology and offering the chance to make it right--the way a respectable business would--the staff at Heirloom took it upon themselves to *very obviously* coerce other clients into posting colorful reviews (within a 24 hour span), as a way to cover up my own. This clearly demonstrates that they care more about getting your money than they do about customer service and correcting their mistakes. Ladies, take your business elsewhere. There are plenty of wonderful stylists in Hampton Roads who also provide kind and warm customer service. read more
