A. Flipping. Mazing. This is a huge (for Reno) open mall with lots of stores and boutiques. My top destinations are the MAC and Sephora stores, Tilly's, Buckle, the Apple store and Abercrombie. (Note: there are at least three variations of Abercrombie at Summit; Kid's, A&F and Abercrombie... I shop at all three!) The customer service at Summit is always reasonable; the folks at Buckle are especially helpful. I wasn't able to find individual review places for all these shops so I'll be plopping my two cents down here. Overall, the only down sides to this place are the drive if you're not from Reno and the occasional really bad weather, since it is an outdoor mall. But you you're looking for some quality, there's Coach, Aldo, Lucky, Gap, Dillard's, Jared's and more! (I sound like an infomercial - but WAIT! CALL NOW and you'll receive this SPECIAL OFFER! ...yeah.) read more

I love this place! I love that it's busy enough but not crazy-in-the-parking-lot busy. And it's only a few miles from my house, which makes it perfect for shopping, taking in a movie, and having lunch or dinner. I don't mind driving from one store to another; much preferable to walking in a regular mall with people who take up the entire width of the walkway without moving over to form two lanes. read more

It's a pretty good mall and probably the best one in Reno. It has all the usual stores between the small specialty ones and the large departement stores. The food choices are a little limited but it's mall food afterall. read more

Get rid of Legacy Nails please!!!!!! They do not deserve to be a part of such a high class shopping mall. I thought I'd receive quality work and I thought wrong. I feel robbed. Don't purchase Summit Gift Cards!!!! Purchase them at the retailer. If not used after one year, the balance quickly disappears due to a "processing fee". Not sure what they are processing to justify it. Also, if you try to use an older card, the retailer is unable to tell you how much is left. You are forced to go to the Summit office and deal with the snooty woman there. I've had gift cards for 2-3 years and they keep their value, and the retailer usable to tell you easily how much is on them. read more

This is a great mall to shop at. The Summit needs a Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Crate and Barrel, and Bloomingdales. It also needs some more high end shops that are also found in Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, California or New York City in New York. This would surely lure big spenders from all over the planet. I love having an outdoor mall, at first I didn't think I would like it, but I really do love the fact that I can just drive straight to the store I want then go in and be able to grab what I need without being stopped by those annoying retail kiosk people in the middle of the walkway trying to get me to buy their product. I hated going to Meadowood because I felt like I had to put my game face on just to be left alone. Makes shopping so unenjoyable. read more

This huge outdoor mall was a great find while on a brief getaway to Reno. I giddily shopped Pottery Barn, Orvis, and Dillard's and was majorly surprised by how nice all the employees were (hey, I'm from California)..Nor did any of the employees' demeanors change when we stepped out of stores without any purchases. It was nice to leisurely walk and shop, but some places are driving distance away, since it is just a large strip of shops. Also, missing were small food shops while the actual restaurants were stand-alones not connected to the strip. Still, if back in this area, I would definitely come back. The Dillard's here was a tad nicer than the Macy's west chains, and had pretty sweet deals. read more

As far as malls go, this one is pretty decent. Good stores, decent dining options, easy parking, and I like the fact that its an out door mall, regardless of the local weather. Who wants to be in a stuffy, closed air mall? Those places are dying for a reason!! They also have a nice little mall here in the summer. I see lots of whining about the fact that its big and you have to walk in some of the other reviews, and to that I say, stop being lazy!! The restaurants are good, and some nice upscale shops. Design of the place is the worst!! It's so spread out and uninviting. People usually drive from store to store. The events have been underwhelming, too. We go to the Summit for the restaurants and/or a movie. Not much into shopping or hanging there. read more

My Mom's doctor's office is located in the Summit Sierra Mall. Today she had an appointment. Unfortunately Summit Mall is not big on hadicapped parking. I need to park there because my mom a 75 year old bilateral below the knee amputee. There are two handicapped spaces in front of Orvis, these are closest to Renown's office. However this is not saying much, you have to go down a fairly steep grade to get there, which is tough in a wheelchair. The next closest handicapped spaces are not next to the buildings so the person can not get out of their car and access the sidewalk easily. They are also not close to Renown. Today when I took my mom to her doctor's appointment and went to park in front of Orvis, the space I usually park in was taken by an employee of Orvis who had no hadicapped plaquard or plates. He kept walking back and forth from the store to his truck while I got my mom out of the car. The employee appeared to be walking just fine, he obviously did not need to park in a handicapped space. About 45 min. later my mom and I came back to the parking lot after her appointment and unfortunately the Orvis employee was still parked there. I had to move my car over because the person parked next to me had parked right on the line and I did not have the room to get my mom in the car. The Orvis employee came out again, and started walking between his truck and the store. about 50 yards away by Rogers Jewlers there were two," security guards", having a conversation. It would have been nice if they might have been doing their job patroling the parking lot!! What if there would have been no handicapped spaces left? I guess my point to all of this is please save the handicapped spaces for the handicapped!!! JR read more

I like this mall. Wish it wasn't so far from home. Lots of upscale shops like White House Black Market and Ann Taylor. Great place to just spend the day. There are places to eat, coffee shop, and movie theatre. Very nice! read more

I really enjoy this mall (especially during the summer; not so much during the winter) as its an outdoor mall! As a whole it shows really well, it's always clean, I never see trash flying around, which I'm guessing has to require a lot of cleaning for an outdoor mall! I think they have a wide variety of shopping and food options, I like that it doesn't have fast food like most malls do! I do wish there were more dining options though. This is definitely my favorite place to go shopping in Reno! read more

I enjoy walking around this mall cuz of the great stores it has for my east coast taste. It's as 'upscale' as Reno can be (I say that in the most minimal sense). I like how it's easily accessible from the freeway. A handful of restaurants and a movie theater round out this 'mall'.. The only thing I majorly dislike is the poor layout of The Summit, but can't fix that at this point. read more

Mall is in danger...Poor Layout...Can't seem to hold tenants (even in a recovering economy). Most shops in a mall are in that space for the foot traffic and this mall is set up for targeted shopping (know where you want to go, drive specifically to that store, get in/get out/go home). If I were going to open a retail location in Reno, Legends at Sparks would be my 1st choice (foot traffic, nicer grounds, space less expensive). We go to Summit to see a movie (as it's the closest theater to us) and that's just about it. Unique retailers are going away there (South Creek up Virginia is where you want to go for unique/boutique retailers). Summit had more upscale/new-to-the-area national retailers however, they're vacating now, too (ie- NY&Company/Clearwater Creek/Abercrombie/Hot Topic/Hollister ALL CLOSED). BJ's Brewery stomps out any other restaurant that tries to open (Cortina/Tequilla Beach/Firken & Wolf/now nothing...Johnny Carino's gone (good riddance), Chocolate Bar's gone/back/gone again, spaces occupied by movie theater have been musical chairs (Tuscan Tomato most recent tenant to CLOSE)...seems like anything that could be built there, BJ's can out dual...Perhaps an upscale Mexican restaurant that won't be in direct competition with BJ's (?))...shops not integrated into the mall design (poor layout). You can visit outdoor malls across the country and see what successful layouts are (it's not segregating shopping areas and putting your restaurants too far to walk to from the stores). If your family visits the mall for lunch/movie/some shopping this trip shouldn't require multiple car trips (it does at the Summit). I don't want my daughter meandering across parking lots/streets while trying to catch a movie then stop by Old Navy then to Claire's (all 3 in separate remote banks of shops). With South Creek booming, Legends expanding/IMAX and nicer grounds, Meadowwood Mall's more central location/revitalizing/adding a Cheesecake Factory (and Nordstrom Rack going in a block away), Summit is in real trouble. It's only a matter of time before tenants start to realize that even if they're doing 'OK' at this location, if they were to relocate their sole/flagship store to any # of other spaces in the Reno market, they'd fare much better due to better space design/foot traffic. I'd be surprised if retailers like Old Navy aren't already regretting being pulled to a more remote location into a fizzling market. Why would you pay a premium for your space to be in a mall environment when the mall doesn't deliver the foot traffic that warrants the higher price for space (?) I can guarantee that tenants like Apple would do better at Meadowwood (provided they were still going to have just 1 location in Reno)...Apple customers would find the store no matter where it's at and foot traffic would create additional business that Summit isn't creating. Advice- start converting some of the vast parking lots that separate blocks of stores into retail space so that your site is connected and has continuity/foot traffic...might be too tall of an order at this point (considering the sad state of the mall currently). I have never felt so unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer at Dillard's. I had sat at the shoe department patiently waiting for service for about 20 minutes. I then decided I would ask if I could try a shoe on by an associate named Alicia. She looked at me then raised her finger and said "yeah, I have other customers" and walked away. As rude as she was I waited for her. She came around about 3 times and never once brought me a shoe or even acknowledged me. Another lady had come in some time after me and asked her to try a shoe on and she tended to her . I was never once acknowledged by Alicia after that and I had asked her what her name was and she still then never tended to me. I will not be returning for the way that I have been treated. read more

Terrible layout of mall, no sense in where is what. Few good shops. Destination point only.

This is the most poorly designed mall I have ever seen. You have to cut across parking lots to get from place to place...in either the hot blazing sun or the freezing wind. Reno officials were completely ripped off by the designers of this "strip" mall. For a beautiful example of a great outdoor mall check out The Grove in So Cal. All parking is on the outside with the stores clustered on the inside. Would not have cost any more for this more efficient design. This mall is ridiculous. read more
