Still delicious after 3 years in business, but damn the prices have gone up in that time - one example is the shawarma fries, which previously came in 2 sizes. In 2023 a new size (small) was added at the same $8 price that used to have 2x the size (that size now costs I think $12?). I still enjoy the food but not the value. read more

Whenever I'm hungry and in a neighbourhood that I'm unfamiliar with, I usually consult my Yelp app for places to eat. Shawarma Queenz showed up with four and a half stars so, of course, I had to try it. All but two of the reviews gave it five stars! I do like shawarma so I was looking forward to it. Walking in, it was obvious that most of their business is take out. There were two small tables, with seating for seven diners and a stand-up counter at the front window. I chose to eat in. I followed the recommendation of the person behind the counter and ordered the Beef Shawarma Dinner. It was served with rice, potatoes, salad, and a variety of sauces. The food was tasty, as expected, and plentiful. The beef was tender and moist. The salad was fresh and the rice was properly cooked. The potatoes, however, while good, were more like country fries but seemed a bit out of place with the rest of the dish. Maybe roasted potatoes, or none, would have been better. Sadly, beyond the tasty food, all was not well. Seven diners came in during my time there and all ordered takeout, while I decided to eat there. Eating in gave me some time to observe my surroundings. It was dirty, very dirty! Both tables needed to be wiped down. There was even a used dirty fork on one table. There was garbage on the floor and the bin was overflowing (see photo). The walls were badly scuffed and in need of paint. Meal for the Day Great location for this part of town if not the only location that I can think of that serves decent shawarma. Clean area, with a decent-sized modern shawarma store menu. Ranging from wraps, plates, shawarma fries, etc. Ordered the Chicken Shawarma plate on a few occasions, to sum it up good food and a good amount of food. If you can finish it alone you will be satisfied for the remainder of the day. Really liked the addition of the potatoes and the variety of salad toppings, olives and cabbage to name a few. The chicken is well cooked and seasoned, laying on a bed of yellow rice, topped with their sauces. The only thing that stood out like a sore thumb in my opinion was the hummus. In comparison to other places, the hummus was just not there, for a lack of a better word. It's not horrible but can be better. Overall would recommend and I will most definitely go again. I don't really care to write reviews that much but when I come across a place that deserves a big shoutout and a positive review, I don't hesitate to do so. Shawarma Queenz is the BOMB!! It seems like there's a new shawarma place that opens up everywhere you go, so it's easy to say that they're all pretty much the same...for the most part. What makes SQ stand out so much is their enormously generous portion sizes in addition to the quality of their ingredients being so fresh! What else? Well, most places selling a typical plate will end up costing you 18+ after tax. At SQ, I get the Chicken Shawarma with fries and half rice for around 14 bux and change. Yes, you read that correctly. It's not only cheaper then most places but you get a mountain of food. Protein, rice and/or fries, veggies, and a selection of sauces and condiments. This place is an absolute banger and I've yet to find a place that exceeds Shawarma Queenz. read more

I always find it difficult to write an honest review of a local small business where there is already a large group of ecstatic local followers. SQ is just that type of business for me. It's close to home and a lot of my friends love this place. Since its opening, many excited West Rougers, without too many good take out options nearby, flocked to this place and sang its praises. I, too, was excited to have a nearby Shawarma joint and went to try it out. The first take out experience was marred by slow service, the kitchen running out of food and long wait time even when I called ahead and placed the pick up order. You can chalk this up to growing pains all business go through as they try to set themselves up and I'm happy to say that SQ has improved in this aspect. The first take out with a chicken and a beef shawarma plates generally tasted good. However, the chicken and beef were both over-cooked and with all the added sauce and condiments, the sodium level in this dinner was through the roof. I made a mental note to make adjustments for our next take out meal. Unfortunately, our next take out of falafel salad with a side order of falafels and hummus wan't much better. Even without adding the pickled radish, the salad was too salty under a blanket of garlic sauce and hot sauce. The biggest turn off were the falafels in the salad and the side as they were under-cooked and cold in the middle. This was in the early afternoon with no other patrons in the store. And no, it was not the drive home as I'm literally 5 minutes away. The best part of this take out was the hummus! Instead of buying a pre-packaged hummus from supermarkets, I would say try SQ's. It comes in a large Styrofoam soup container and costs $3.99! Taste and the freshness is well worth the cost. It is a small little joint hidden in port union, and service is excellent! The owner came out to ask how everything was, super friendly!! We ordered the chicken shawarma plate and chicken shawarma wrap. Both portions were very filling. Chicken was cooked to perfection, super flavourful and juicy !! I liked the chicken over the beef Shawarma. However, I felt the meat portion compared to the rest of the meal to be light. Plus I would suggest the owners pick their poison. Salad - fine but having rice and fries seemed too much hence my comment about the lack of protein. I thought both went well with the meal but not both. My preference. The beef I found to be very dry. This place was amazing! I had heard about it from a friend and had read both the reviews here and on google which were great. I ordered the beef shawarma plate which included the beef shawarma, Greek salad, rice, and potatoes, and it was excellent. The flavours were fantastic and the portion was huge. It was two meals for me. I really enjoyed the garlic sauce and hot sauce and their tzatziki and hummus as well. Service was fantastic---so friendly, warm and inviting. There is limited seating inside...so we took ours to go. I'm so glad we tried it. I wish I took pics of our food and the menu to post here. I was almost tempted to go back the next day for more. Nice little place that opened in our area. Well staffed and seems to be high traffic since it recently opened. We ordered chicken shawarmas and they give you a good portion of chicken and fresh veggies. The amount of food given is worth the price that they charge. The chicken meat tasted like it had too much ginger and the wrap was falling apart. I wouldn't say this is the best place for shawarma in Toronto but it was alright. I live in the area so when I saw that there was a nearby Shawarma place, I got excited. Finally went to try it and I was very happy. I called for take-out which was also very convenient. Though they said that my order was going to be ready in 15 to 20 mins, I got there and it wasn't. Not a big deal but just thought I'd share that if every anyone else wants to order for pick-up as they're in a rush. I'll tell you this though, it'll be worth it. Chicken Shawarma Plate - For $12.99, you'll get a pretty generous portion. I requested for no rice and more chicken which they happily provided without any extra charges. The chicken had tons of flavour! You can also add your choice of sauce(s). The plate also came with salad which was fresh as well as fries. Best part about the fries? It's yellow potatoes. That's a primo choice in my personal opinion. If you're gonna do house-fries, hand-cut fries, etc... choose yellow potatoes! You'll always score brownie points by doing so. What we got in our beef shawarma order was pieces of meat strips cut up and thrown on a grill with seasoning. Now being folks who have had shawarma from all the popular shawarma spots, we were expecting shaved meat carved from the rotating spit which by definition is what shawarma is. The website does not indicate that this is not how it is prepared and the kitchen is closed so we were unable to see any spits. On receiving the items, we called back and spoke with the manager who after hearing that we got meats that were not what we were expecting as advertised as shawarma, offered us a refund right away. We explained that the fries and potatoes were also undercooked and soggy and he was understanding. Since we dont live in the area, we asked if there is anyway they can have the food returned, and they said they can't do that and again offered us a refund, took our info and said they would gladly refund the order. We said we would go by another time to get the refund as they couldnt do anything else for us. Now, we did not ask for a refund, they offered one almost right away, we were just calling to explain the inconsistency between what we were expecting and what we got. A day later, a woman who claimed to be the owner of the restaurant called and asked to speak with us and wanted to 'understand the situation'. As we tried to explain to her what it was, in between dealing with two young kids running around, she became accusatory and started saying things like "you had your turn to talk", "now its my turn so i will talk", and "do you understand?" in a very condescending tone. Is this how you call and talk to a customer? We didnt even bother going in for a refund!!! We became annoyed because we were trying to explain what the issue was and her response was this is how they have chosen to do things, that they fry their beef with seasonings and do not use a spit as the beef gets dry etc etc and because we were expecting something different, we do not have a valid enough excuse to call and complain. Even when i tried explaining that we didnt ask for a refund, we just called to explain the issue, she kept going and going about how we shouldn't complain and how our expectations are basically not valid, and that she has all these years of cooking experience and that her manager basically offered a refund because he didnt know any better and we made him feel bad when we called, but that the ultimate decision to issue a refund was hers and hers alone. That if the meat was raw or undercooked it would be valid, but if their was inconsistency between what they advertise and what is served, that we are not entitled to complain or even bring it to their attention!! What the heck?? Whatever happened to treating your customers well? She basically told us that if we were unhappy, we needn't complain, just not come back! She didnt even wait to hear us out about the actual issue, and made it seem like we just wanted a refund despite what we tried explaining several times during the conversation. Throughout the conversation, she was confrontational, rude, condescending and really didn't even wait to hear what the issue was before she made it seem like all we wanted was our money back. Suffice to say, we ended the phone call because we didnt want to continue conversing with someone who clearly cannot take any criticism, who asks you to explain the issue so she can understand, but talks over you and doesn't really want to understand or accept anything you are saying. If you are looking for shawarma as it is traditionally made, and not pieces of meat thrown on a grill with what they call shawarma seasonings, doused in sauce that isn't even the traditional garlic sauce, please go elsewhere as neither is this restaurant authentic, nor do they advertise what their version of shawarma is so the customer can make an informed decision. They certainly need education in customer service, decency and etiquette! You might fool those who are newbies to shawarma, but not those who know what shawarma by definition is. A wonderful addition to the neighbourhood! I went today for the first time and I was delighted with the result. We ordered the chicken shawarma (both the wraps and plates). This is a nice new place in Scarborough. The store is nice and clean. We ordered the shawarma combo which came with 2 chicken shawarma sandwiches and two pop for $14.99 and also got a side order of chicken shawarma poutine. I've had many shawarmas before so I felt this lacked a little bit flavour. It tasted healthy (which is great) but the chicken itself lacked some salt and flavour. Garlic sauce was really good! We loved the chicken poutine. This was awesome. Customer service was great! They were really friendly and welcoming.
