Saw this gem last year got to try it today. The shawarma is the real deal -- meat that's actually been turning on the spit, crispy edges, juicy inside, and well seasoned. Garlic sauce is very good. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the Mary and Marty are genuinely friendly. Place is small and unassuming from the outside, but that's usually how you know a spot is going to be good. What an awesome 70th birthday party we had here. Angie and Uli were absolutely wonderful (it felt like we were family) in taking care of our party of 20. They were so attentive to our needs, helping with our decorations, bringing out the food and glasses, plating the baklava and much more. Still a great go-to restaurant if you're craving Mediterranean food. The value is good: most dinners include soup and salad. I ordered the chicken kabob dinner plate, which had a generous amount of chicken , I would estimate about 4-ounces, and half my plate was covered with yellow rice. What makes the rice yellow? I always wondered that. The lentil soup is always a good option. The falafels we ordered came in 6. You can get the 12, but 6 was plenty. It came with pita bread, that I wish was more fluffy. But it was good overall. We also orders the hummus which was creamy and really good. Our waters were refilled timely, food was good, and the overall experience was great. I would like to make it very clear that this is nothing against our food but more on their service. I had placed an order on Uber eats and literally not even 5 minutes into placing the order, I canceled it due to lack of time during my shift to have time to eat and to deliver the food to my daughter who works also as a nurse on the same shift. My coworker saw that I was canceling it and said hold on. I believe there's a $20 fee for canceling it. I said no I don't think so but I'll deal with it later. I need to cancel it so they don't place the order, canceled it and went along my day since we were busy. Noticed on my Bank card today that there's a A charge payment for $93 when the total amount for our food was $73. I went on Uber eats to try to see what they can do and obviously they could not help. I had never done this before and to my surprise of course the restaurant could not help and I said well if I'm being charged $73 for the food plus $20 for I have no idea what can I at least get the food and of course that's not going to happen. I just thought I throw that out there for those of you who do Uber eats and decide to do a cancellation that's less than 5 minutes. I'll be jumping off ubereats for a while- And definitely not ever ordering or ever going to this place and definitely not ever going to recommend... I just finished telling my coworkers about this... Pretty good first experience eating at Shawarma Inn. This was the first time really ordering out for middle eastern food so I don't have anything to compare it to... yet. I ended up ordering the chicken shawarma pita, an order of falafel, and my boyfriend ordered the entree chicken shawarma plate. Falafel: 4.5, comes with 8 in an order which I thought were good. They weren't oiley and the sauces provided paired nicely. Definitely recommend adding these to your order. Chicken Shawarma plate: 4.5 which was my boyfriends dinner. ALOT of food comes in the order, easily can be split between 2-3 people. The chicken was rotisserie style and the rice was phenomenal. The vegetables on the side weren't outstanding but it's easily overlooked by the chicken and rice. Chicken shawarma pita: 3.5 rating... I felt like the pita wasn't filled enough so I had 1 long pita with lettuce, tomatoes, and chicken. The chicken was also different than the chicken in the shawarma plate above; I almost wish they used the chicken from the plate in the pita. I ended up taking some of my boyfriends rice and putting it in the pita. I probably won't order the pita again. Overall, good and filling dinner provided by shawarma inn! Great little family run place! They also have a 2nd location in the city. Staff was friendly, and service was quick. The value for what you pay is outstanding. They give you so much food! Entrees come with soup and salad, and rice. The portion sizes were super generous. Everything we ate was very tasty. They also provided 3 different sauces to use throughout your meal--tahini, a red schug, and some type of dill parsley sauce. All 3 were very flavorful, and added great depth to the meal. I can only assume that they were made in house. We started off with an order of falafel and babaganoush. The server told us that they were unfortunately out of soup, and provided us with a large plate of hummus as compensation. Really excellent customer service considering the soup is a bonus to the entree anyhow. I do not like lentil soup so it was a SUPER bonus for me. The hummus and babaganoush were super flavorful, and served with lavish bread. The falafel had good flavor, and was cooked well with a crispy outside and a warm moist inside. For my entree I ordered the kefta. The meat had good flavor, and was not dry and overcooked which I sometimes find happens at other Middle Eastern restaurants. The portion was big enough to feed me dinner, and then 2 lunches! My family ordered the combo platter, and the beef shawarma. They both enjoyed these entrees, and had leftovers as well! Lamb meal was very disappointing. It looked like a stew over rice. But it tasted like leather shoe stew over rice. When I mentioned the toughness of the meat, the server said it was the characteristic of lamb and the reason most customers order it. She went further to inform me if I wanted a tender meat I should order beef. This was all said with a smile on her face. The lentils were basically puréed to a point it was just watered down, tasty soup. The vegetables salad looked decent; how could you mess up lettuce. My friend and I ordered (take away)a chicken Kefta Kabob pita wrap and Chicken and beef shawarma. On the first look quantity is quite good compared to what is been offered at other places. Shawarma came with a very decent amount of meat (both varieties), rice, pickles and salad on the side and also the pita which is very disappointing in taste and texture. It is very very very dry. Meat was over cooked and dry as well, no taste or whatsoever. There's also lentil soup that comes with it, which was okay. And the sauce, I can't even explain how that can go wrong. It drives me craazzzyyyyy that half the time their phone goes directly to busy. During their normal hours. I ordered from this place from Uber Eats recently thinking it was going to be similar to Pita Inn; however, when I received my chicken shawarma hummus plate, I was a little disappointed by the lack of flavor and the HUGE pita (tortillas) I received. When giving pitas, many places give you those delicious fluffy pitas with the slit through the top so you can put the hummus and chicken inside the pita to make your own sandwich, but I instead got 2 flat and hard pitas that were larger than my face. The chicken was okay, but a little overcooked, as well. Overall, the food was still good, just not my favorite. Their hot sauce was delicious, and thankfully I got some because I needed it to add flavor to my food. The amount of food that came in my meal was large and it is a good value for the quantity. My food did arrive warm and fresh, but I personally don't think I will be back anytime soon. We also have to remember that the restaurants are under a lot of stress due to COVID, so maybe they were just having a rough day when I went. read more

First time here at Shawarma Inn. Food is amazing and fresh. I always order chicken shawarma. The lentil soup taste was also great. Even the salad was yummy and not soggy. The food is some of the best comfort food I've ever had. Their meat is delicious, rice is incredible, and the portions are insanely big. You won't regret trying the food on their menu. For $13.99 one gets rice and meat (we went with the 50/50 which was beef and chicken). I liked the chicken better than the beef. The entree also came with a huge salad, tons of thin pita bread and a choice of white bean soup or lentil. The pita bread is served cold. Not warm. The salad was bland. No dressing. Service was hospitable. The young lady who took care of us was attentive, professional and kind. She made sure our water glasses were full at all times. She explained the 3 different sauces she brought to the table. She didn't tell us what the sauces were for. We weren't sure if they were for the meat, salad or rice. We drizzled garlic sauce on our meat. It definitely elevated the taste to another level. The sauce was bright, refreshing with a light kick of heat. This is not an area where you say "Let's take a walk" when you finish your meal. It's more for eating and leaving. In our case we went to see a movie in Rosemont. The area is street parking only. There's really nothing to explore in the area. There's a Walgreens, Boston Market, Physical Therapy facility, meat market and small music store across the street. The restaurant is located on the south east corner of Devon Ave, west of Talcott & east of Cumberland Ave. (across the street from Walgreens). The interior is not great. It's rather boring. There was a Christmas tree in the restaurant sadly decorated. The restaurant is clean. It's not the kind of restaurant where we wanted to linger for a while. The ambiance is not very exciting or interesting. My 4-star review is based on the above. The food is very tasty, freshly prepared and the garlic sauce was off the chain delicious! Been a while since my last visit, so time for an update. We have been ordering a lot of takeout, and even though this is a bit farther than other Middle Eastern spots for us, it's nice to have extra options. Their chicken shawarma wrap is outstanding. I will get this every time. Also the falafels are excellent, and quite large. Big thumbs up for the fattoush salad. Right away I noticed that the baba ghannouj was missing green peppers, which I always thought was a nice addition. Plus it was just kind of oily and lacked a nice smoky flavor like my favorite babas have. And the super-thin pitas just aren't great for dipping. So I wouldn't get that again, but overall the food was very good. And the food was ready on time, no waiting. read more

I went here randomly and it was not a planned trip. The place looked clean and no customers were there. Staff was very friendly. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate $15. It came with a salad, rice and soup (choice was lentil or white bean). While they do give a nice portion of chicken on top of rice, without the accompanying sauces there was no flavor. The salad had a bad smell (could have been the vinegar?) and didn't taste good. The white bean soup tasted similar to baked beans and like it came from a can. I threw all of it away as I found it inedible. I really wanted to like this place and the food but I have to be honest. I would not recommend dining or take out from this place. read more

Where do I begin. I ordered from Shawarma Inn 2 on Ubereats a bit ago, and when I tell you I was ready to feast I was ready to FEAST... BUT when my food arrived (the combination entre bundle) I couldn't help but notice the absolutely horrendous/abysmal quality of the food. The beef shawarma (the only decent thing besides the cold pita they gave me) had no taste/seasoning whatsoever, which also goes for the kabob... Now to talk about the real stinker, the chicken kabob, the presentation of it was flawless, the steaming chicken looking mad fresh. Yet another "BUT", I took a bite, and... It was chewy and had a very rough texture almost to the point where it would've had a crunch sound when I followed through with the bite. Immediately I walked calmly to the other side of my home to spit it out. The rice was pretty fire. Additionally I should mention the taste of the food had a noticeable metallic taste. Maybe there's a reason they don't have Shawarma Inn 2 available to review on either Ubereats or Yelp, because they know how terrible the food is, so I feel I should inform others about my traumatic dining experience for the only Shawarma Inn location. I should also mention, you may think I am a plus sized individual who is very into food, I'd like to deny that possible theory. I bench 225 at a body weight below 160 (can't give them a description). I'll list the pros and cons of this restaurant in the order of my experience. Pro: 2 hours of free parking in front of the building. Pro or con depending on the customer: Choose where you want to sit (I preferred this) Pro: Cute table cloths, clean glasses and utensils and delicious, clear water. I have issues with water that tastes and smells chlorinated. This water was clean. Pro and con: Bathroom smelled freshly cleaned but heavily bleached. Two stalls with only one operating. The other had a note to hold down the handle to flush properly so there is clearly a plumbing problem. There was a ton of food at my table when I returned from washing my hands. The hummus was literally the best I've ever tasted. There were small chunks of fresh tomato in the middle which I loved as well as the spices (maybe paprika). There was an ample amount of pita bread, it was thin, tasty and fresh. There was a salad with oil and vinegar and a lemon wedge (I love a lemon with my salad). My hot lentil soup was waiting for me too. It was mostly delicious except for the iceberg salad. My entree was absolutely out of this world delicious! The shrimp came with the most delicious garlic and herb sauce and the rice was perfection. The only beef I have about this is that the menu said 8 shrimp and I received 6. Dang! I really wanted the other two. This is part of the 4 stars rating. They could also do a better jobs with refilling drinks. My tea was delicious and strong and I wanted more to wash down my meal but I had to flag her down to get it. I will most certainly return and ask about how many shrimp my meal comes with . read more

This is decent place for Middle Eastern fare. You get a lot here for the dollar - the $12 combination entree (beef shawarma, kefta kabob, and chicken kabob) was very generous and came with a salad and lentil soup. The latter two items were pretty ordinary and brought the overall rating down a bit though. The rest was quite good and tasty, but also not quite 5 star fresh on this day (a place like Naf Naf consistently sets the bar I would say).
