My no-brainer go to ordering in spot for shawarma. Absolutely obsessed with their chicken shawarma plate. I always swap the rice with the veggies. Their hummus and tahini mix is just amazing and so creamy. Their shawarma chicken is smoked, crispy and juicy at the same time. Their price and quantity are very reasonable and the quality of food is really good. My favorite side salad is the eggplant salad. It's a must try! This area has a lot of other shawarma places and yet I keep going back to this place for it's taste. read more

Popped in here with a friend who lives in the area and highly recommended it. He had the plate with chicken, the portion was massive!!! I have the plate with falafel and it was hot fresh and crispy and enough for 2-3 meals! The place was spotless with some seating available inside. Unassuming place around the corner from the theater, this place lived up to the hype of gyros!! I ordered a regular chicken wrap and was not disappointed. They prepare it right then and there and you get your food before you pay. There's tons of ingredients and everything is so fresh. Decently priced too! I had the chicken platter which was ok. The only thing I like was the grilled eggplant option. Otherwise it was pretty much like any other shawarma places. The price is a bit higher but only because it is inclusive of a drink. Come here if you are craving a donair and you are too lazy to go uptown for it. read more

Great little place along Columbia street which serves Halal food. I like their wrap, a can of pop & a regular wrap for under $8! They have other plate dishes available too. The plate dish comes with your choice of salad, I highly recommend the eggplant salad, loved the eggplant is carmalized & taste so yummy. Staff are very friendly & generous. Very tasty donair here for reasonable prices. The regular is massive, and they also offer Super size if you need more. Had lamb/chicken mix and the veggies, meats and sauces all combine into an excellent tasting mix -- not too greasy either. Baclava for desert is also very good. I'm always up for a good shawarma... whether you call it shawarma, gyro, or donair - there's something about grilled meats on a spit that harkens back to a time when people used to bbq dino burgers on an open flame. In early May, I dropped by downtown New Westminster to visit Sharama Corner (which is a bit of a misleading name since the restaurant's actually located in the middle of the block and their menu actually doesn't list the word "shawarma"). I opted for the Mixed Plate ($8.99) which has a mix of meats on top of golden-hued rice, your choice of salad (I picked tabbouleh), along with tzatziki, hummus, and pita bread. Not a bad combination, although the chicken was a bit on the dry side. I dropped by the following week to try their wraps and picked the Beef Donair Wrap ($7.99 for the regular size which included a can of pop). You get to pick the toppings of your wrap so I opted for lettuce, tomato, onions, jalapeños, tzatziki, hummus, and hot sauce. After they wrap it up, they put it in a press which warms everything up and also gives you a perfect shape to hold onto. It was pretty good... I like that you can pick the toppings of your choice. I returned for a revisit about 5 months later and tried their Lamb Donair ($7.99 for the regular size with a can of pop) and it did not disappoint. I made sure to add the pickled red turnip and it gave the wrap a nice tart crunch to the bite. The amount of seasoned lamb was generous and it was an overall good shawarma. The interior of this minimalistic shop seems fairly clean and the workers were friendly on all visits. I returned for a revisit about 5 months later and tried their Lamb Donair ($7.99 for the regular size with a can of pop) and it did not disappoint. Was walking on Colombia recently and passed by this small establishment. Definitely distinct from the donair places. I saw in the vegetable section there were turnips available. And Garlic mayonaise was available, which looked like the sauce had been there for hours, almost looked crusty on top. That is when I knew this was a Lebanese style schawama joint as I had not seen the chopped turnips and eyebrow raising garlic mayo since I was in Montreal. Anyway I ordered the chicken schawarma with can of pop for 8 dollars. Modest amount of chicken with lettuce and tomato wrapped in a pita and I opted for tatziki sauce. Pita then put in a press to make the bread a little crispy, which was actually a nice touch. But overall it was just mediocre. Not enough chicken and just passable taste. Ordered the lamb donair ($7.99) which came with a canned beverage. Overall, it was quite tasty and it was a good-sized portion. A couple things which I think would make these wraps even better: - I thought the lettuce could have been fresher. Some of the iceberg leaves were browned on the edges and I consequently opted not to include any in my wrap. - The donair could be heated for just a bit longer to add some extra crispness to the pita. The space is clean and bright and staff were efficient. Next time, I'll probably opt for one of the platters. You're given a choice of different salads which looked pretty appetizing. read more

Finally! A decently priced Shawarma place that's within walking distance. Located next to the Fresh Slice Pizza and barber shop, Shawarma Corner occupies a front facing view of Columbia street. I ordered the chicken plate (regular size) and was pleasantly surprised. Upon ordering, you are given 3 choices of salad. Greek, Tabouleh and one other kind, might be a house salad or something. (pro tip: Tabouleh!!!) This is topped off with chicken, rice, and they add tzatziki and hummous. Chicken was flavourful and when mixed with the tabouleh, and sauces made for a simple, but tasty blend. The menu also indicates you can sub the rice for fries, if that's your thing. I also had a pita thrown in for dining in. The guys are super friendly and seem very accommodating. I believe if you opt for the wrap for $7.99, it includes a drink - I will be trying this next time and seeing if they can do a falafel/chicken mix. I had some skip credits to burn, so I decided to try Shawarma Corner with my crew. We ordered a chicken plate, a chicken & beef mixed plate, and a chicken shawarma combo (which includes fries and a drink). The order was nicely packed, which we appreciated, and the shawarma was a decent size. But the portions of the shawarma plates were TINY. In fact, I would say they were the smallest portions I've ever seen at a donair place in Metro Vancouver. Usually they at least pile on the rice, (even when they are stingy about the meat), but not this time. The small styrofoam containers were very loosely packed, and the meal was over in twenty bites (leaving me, a petite person with a small appetite, hungrier than ever). The meat wasn't the softest I've ever had, but decent, and yummy nevertheless. I also enjoyed the house salad. And their tabouleh was good as well. My sister thought the beef in her mixed plate was on the dry side, (and I would have to agree with her, based on the way it looked alone). The fries were piping hot, and well seasoned with what I assume is chilli powder. I'd give them a 10/10 for the fries. They were delish! But on the whole, the three of us agreed that we wouldn't order from Shawarma Corner again. You can get way more bang for your buck from other shawarma/gyro/donair places for $11 or $12 a meal. Unless you're in the area, and need a shawarma STAT, I'd skip this place and head elsewhere. read more

I came here before my movie date (cheapy Tuesday) to get some dinner before seeing a movie with my good buddy. Very friendly on the wallet and the portions are huge. I couldn't finish it at once and I tried getting my buddy to share, however, we had to race inside for the movie, therefore, I snuck this in with me. That's how big it is. Went in to get a falafel donair one day after work. Falafel was cooked fresh as I watched, was told they always are and that it was something I could expect every time upon visiting. Was suggested to get the mango sauce, the original sauce for falafel, wasn't sure about as I'd never tried it. The fellow behind the counter gave me a sample to try beforehand and I went for it.
