I am a long term customer and purchased multiple pairs of high value shoes at this store. Last month I purchased two pairs of identical shoes. Upon the first wear the outsole of the first pair started to crumble off leaving crumbles on the ground as I walked. Upon the second wear the entire outsole was gone. That was 3 weeks after purchase that the shoe required to be re-soled. The second identical pair was perfectly fine. I took it to the store to ask to repair the bottom, not return, as I loved the shoes. The sales person immediately dismissed my point saying it is 'normal wear' and 'I must have stepped into something' citing her 20 year experience. Such high value shoes are expected to offer premium quality and durability and should not require expensive repairs within 3 weeks. Also, quality customer service was not there. read more

High end shoery. Nice options and lots to choose from. The help wasn't that friendly when I walked in, I glanced around and walked out.

I bought an expensive pair of designer shoes on sale here, and when I went to wear them, they had left the sale tags on the inside of the shoes which ripped the lining off. When I brought them back and showed them, the owner just ripped the tag (and thus the material with it) off, and told me I was crazy to even think about returning them. He said "what do you think we are, Nordstroms"? He was rude, and not at all apologetic. Will never shop here again and warning you to make sure what you purchase is not damaged first as they do not have friendly customer service. read more

I have a lot of boots in different colors, materials and height but most are on the dressy side. I wanted a pair of boots that is comfortable, can be dressed up or down and low heeled - I found it here and LOVE it. It is also super stylish so I rocked it in NYC. While there, I also picked up a very chic top that I also took to NYC. For those who care, most of their stuff are made in Italy and they carry some exclusive brands that are not found anywhere else. read more

Shaw Shoes is my ALL TIME favorite place to shop!!! The store is owned and operated by a father/daughter team who works so so hard to create the best customer experience possible. And talk about the most fashion forward boutique in SF... Shaw is it!! Almost everything comes directly from Italy and is so fashionable and unique that you'll never want to shop at a department store again! I get compliments on EVERYTHING I wear that is from Shaw. The BEST SHOE STORE EVER WORLDWIDE!!!!! Frankly, at first I was surprised why Shaw Shoes has very few comments. They are in business for VERY LONG time, and that IS a great proof of their excellent service - being on Union St for so many years is something only the best can survive. After some thinking, I finally think I know the answer - it's because most of the customers of Shaw's are not on Yelp, they might even be willing to reveal their name, place they shop for shoes etc... This is a boutique store in the heart of Pacific Heights, and it's been based for decades on the customer service. Lately Shaw's collection has expanded to some brands that are more affordable compared to some high-end designer shoes and boots. Yet they're all so stylish! Also, for those who just want to have something "out of this world" but can't "spend a fortune" on it - Shaw has several sale events throughout the year, so you can definitely find something that fits even tight budget. I can only say: The Owner of the store goes to Italy and all the fashion shows himself, and chooses collections carefully, to reflect their customer base and latest fashion trends. Every pair you buy here is so unique and high quality, it will last for years! I still have Lorenzi's I bought here in 2003! They look awesome, and every time I wear them people ask me where I got them... Because none of the high-end stores like Neiman or Saks can compare with collection at Shaw. Whatever you're looking for - you should come visit Shaw! When I was able to spend more, I got Caovilla Swarowsky pumps; when I wasn't able to spend that much - I got less expensive brands, but Shaw collection quality makes them last for years without losing their great look and shape! Customer service is amazing - they will help you find your style, they will suggest you a designer, shape, colors... And they will accommodate (if possible) a special order and a shipment if something is not available in store. CAVEAT EMPTOR "Let the buyer beware!" Shaw Shoes refuses to accept returns or even give merchandise credit! I purchased a $130.00 pair of Mephisto sandals after the salesperson repeatedly assured me the fit was good and that I could have them stretched if necessary--my bad. I wore the sandals for 15 mins, got a blister, and took them to the shoe repair shop to have them stretched. I was told by a seasoned shoe repair professional that the sandals could not be stretched. I took the sandals back to Shaw Shoes the next day and to add insult to injury, the store manager (owner?) refused to refund my money or offer store credit. Then he yelled at me and said my feet were too wide . . . it wasn't worth arguing with this man. I left the shoes on the counter and left the store. I will NEVER shop there again. read more

The one star because that's the lowest. The young lady there was just rude. She did not even look up from her cell phone. When I asked her a question she just answered NO, while I saw it in the window. Maybe she has a problem with mature, Asian women but ain't going there ever again. I cannot believe I just read a review that equated Shaw to a stripper shoe dealer!? Wow, that's weird considering that this is one of the only conveniently located boutiques to carry beautiful designer footwear---I have never seen a stripper in designer Italian heels but hey, I must be frequenting the wrong joints with my guy pals then I guess. Come on now, Shaw carries Pucci! - how rare is that? Again, if you are a shoe aficionado you already know this is the place to run when you don't have the patience to order online and wait for delivery. One of the best places for unique shoes! I stopped buying shoes in other places and travel from the east bay to shop here. Shaw is not inexpensive but you are paying for quality and fashion. Try finding these shoes elswhere. You would need to go to Europe to find the same styles. They are very careful about what they purchase. This is my favorite shoe store in SF! Without fail, I get complimented on the shoes I've bought here every time I wear them. I've bought several Pelle Moda pumps, Via Spiga and Lea Foscati boots, Maria Sharapova/Cole Haan flats, and Bernardo flip flops. Just bought Gucci sunglasses on sale this past weekend!
