I brought my Birkenstocks in to repair the right shoe because my puppy had chewed the strap. I saw on the Birkenstock website that Shasta Boot Company is an authorized Birkenstock repair shop, so I thought they must do a good job (wrong). The guy that helped me was rude; first, he lectured me about how I shouldn't have let my puppy chew my shoe, then he refused to take the left shoe to use as a side guide or reference for cutting the strap (he said he was an expert at his craft and didn't need it). He said it'd be ready in about a week. A week and a half goes by and I hadn't heard anything, so I called and they said my shoe was ready. When I went in to pick it up, first of all the shoe was a mess- it had glue smudged all over the side, and the bottom of the shoe was bulged out. The same guy helped me- he was bragging about what a good job he did and how he had to purchase a new hide of white leather so it'd match. I tried on the shoe ad the strap was so small, I couldn't get my foot in (and clearly smaller than my still intact left shoe). He was mad that the strap was too small (but if he'd just taken the left shoe as reference, the strap probably wouldn't have been too small), but agreed to fix it. He still refused my other shoe to use as reference. Another week goes by, I go in and the strap is on, but uncut. The shoe is yet again, covered in glue and bulging on the bottom. He tells me to try it on and he'll cut it the right length. So he does, and FINALLY uses my other shoe as reference for where to put the buckle holes. He cut the strap straight across, so I asked if he could cut it diagonally to match the other side, the is upset him again. He was so frustrated that I still didn't like them and cut the strap so uneven. I was done at this point. Waste of money, I wish I'd just thrown them away and bought a new pair. we have waited 2.5 months for replacement of defective Merrill boots. Shasta Boot Co continues to say they haven't arrived yet. checked with Merrill company today and they would have sent a replacement in 7-10 days. we will next contact the BBB. I try hard to give every business two chances but with a job this terrible I don't trust them to touch my shoes again. I brought my beautiful Ralph Lauren rain boot in for a really basic stitch. The stitches on the elastic panel had pulled out and I just needed it sewn back in. No fraying or anything. Super basic. The charged me ten dollars and it took a week. Lo and behold I go to pick my boot up and they DESTROYED it. They stitched INTO THE RUBBER OF THE BOOT! Not only that, but the thread was sewn over a wrinkle in the elastic so there's a huge space where it isn't even sewn down. The thread is frayed and sticking out, and it isn't even the right color, and, less then three wears later, the thread is coming loose again. I basically paid someone to ruin a designer boot. I'm PISSED to say the least, hence all the caps. I'm going to pull the stitches out and do it myself, which I should have done to begin with. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY If I could give this place a 0 star I would. Tells you one price on phone, charges you more when you get there. The lady and the man who work there are super rude and inconsiderate human beings. I have worked In retail and I would have never treated customers with no respect or hang the phone up on them twice. They wouldn't admit they didn't keep their verbal contract of price and pickup date. They told me they would get my boots done by Monday last Wednesday and they haven't even been touched today (Monday). Horrible service ! I bought a pair of lowa boots from them and i wore them out and brought them back to get re souled and they sent them back to get re done and they told me 6 weeks and I'll get them back . Well I call after 6 weeks and a fella told me he would call back with an answer as to why they arnt back . No return phone call and that continued for 4 more phone calls and no answer . I call Back a 6th time and they guy told me call back in 2 weeks and they should be back and if they aren't back then they definitely will be back the following . I let 3 more weeks go by and no call so I call yet again and I get the " let me get your name and number and as soon as I have an answer I let you know " yeah right ! Over the course of my life I have owned a lot of different pairs of boots, they're all I wear. I was in the market for a new pair a few months back and a friend of mine referred me to The Boot Company. From the moment I walked in the door I had an incredible experience. Not only are they a local business, but all of the boots they carry are American made, they have a boot repair shop in the back and the staff is extremely knowledgeable. Those things alone speak volumes. I purchased a pair of boots that were comfortable at the time of buying but after wearing didn't fit my awkwardly shaped foot just right. I brought them back in and told them they didn't fit right after breaking them in for a month( most boots real quality boots take at least 2 weeks) and they returned them and referred me to a different boot for the size of my foot. Good products and excellent service. I had arch supports made and they are wonderful. The Veterans Administration prescribed them for me and paid the bill. However they are so comfortable I would of gladly paid. My wife purchased the same type of support and she is very happy with them. I took my Cole Haan leather boots that had significant wear on them. They returned it to me conditioned as though they were brand new--something I haven't experienced in the past even in more cosmopolitan areas of Southern California. The owners were not only well-versed with their craft but also pointed me in the right direction when asked about other considerations (luggage repair) that happened to be beyond their scope. I have taken in 10 pairs of shoes to be fixed.... I finally am able to walk straight and with a heck of a lot less pain and swelling. I've spent big bucks on inserts that my Dr. advised me to get. I will never again bring my business here! They are Rude and do not stand up to there work or word! I brought them my boots few years back had them resoled and the wood was messed up I tried to have them redo it at the end of my fire season they said no. And I recently had them send my boots out to Nicks for a rebuild I was quoted $280 cost me $350 they did a few things without consulting me first! Then when my wife goes in to pay they were rude to her like hello I just spoke with you on the phone that my wife was going to pick up my boots and pay for them. I'm a longboarder I brought a pair of shoes to Shasta Company to have them glue 4ml soles on to them. I had to leave my shoes with them for 7 days. It cost $35 and I was guaranteed that the glue would not separate unless I left them in a car or heated them above 250 degrees. 4 days later after longboarding not only my push shoes but both shoes souls started to separate from the shoe. I brought them back less than a week after having then work on them asking for a partial refund because they're glue will not work and I was guaranteed they would not separate. I was told by the same person that guaranteed there company work doesn't give refunds and that he doesn't care about my shoes nor that the glue doesn't work or his word that he guaranteed his work ( companies word Shasta Boot Company has poor customer relations due to the fact that the only boot repair company in Redding). For quality boot repair I suggest traveling to Sacramento and having your shoes mail back to you at least the work will be done correct and guaranteed. read more

I had a pair of heels that needed the plastic part redone because it fell off. My othet half thought he would take them to be repaired. My heels were destroyed. They were a little dusty so he took a BRISTLED brush to a pair of satin heels to get it off. Fabric was damaged. Heels lost their shine. The heel that needed to be replaced was NOT replaced correctly. There should never be a part of the shoe heel that hangs over the plastic part. The fabric of the heel itself is frayed and scuffed. Charged a ridiculous amount for the repair. I wont even wear them. I will NEVER take one of my shoes there again. They have no idea what they are doing read more

I came in Saturday afternoon and needed my Durango boots re-heeled. I asked the guy at the desk and he told me Wednesday. I explained I would be traveling and asked if there was there any way I could get them Monday. He told me to come back in an hour! I came back and my boots were done! He asked if I wanted them oiled or polished, and after a coat of oil they looked new! And my back feels better (unexpected bonus). The service was nice, competent, and willing to work with me.
