I made eye contact with one of the store associates at the register and instead of acknowledging me, he looked back down. I knocked on the door and he just shook his head at me, indicating he wouldn't be opening the doors. I took a picture of the hours on the window and that prompted him to come outside. He informed me they had had a power outage and were attempting to get the registers back up and working. Understandable. I said thanks and walked back to my car, only to watch more customers do exactly what I had just done and stand by the doors that didn't open. What does it take to write on a piece of paper that the store is currently closed due to a power outage and put it up on the doors? Lights are on, employees are in there staring at you through closed doors.... This place is mismanaged and the employees are SO lazy. I've been in the store many times waiting in a line to check out where one employee is at a register and the other employees are hanging around. Keep in mind they have 4 registers. It might be time to start thinking about implementing self check outs. This store is always very stocked and has a lot of options which makes it a good choice, but I would avoid it if I could. I drove across the street after this to Vons and got what I needed.

The store is smaller than most Rite Aid's and the parking is a bit of an annoyance, but for the most part this was a well stocked, kindly staffed and clean Rite Aid location. My friends dropped me off at the front and circled the block, by the time they made the circle I was able to locate, pickup, pay and get back curbside. Went to the deli section to place our order and can I ask a question. Does it really take 30 minutes to make a sandwich? It seemed like the workers were working at snail speed. Everyone had a stank look on their face and looked very unhappy. Not saying you have to be bright at the job but it felt very off putting. After standing in line like we were at in an amusement park, finally got our sandwiches sat down and enjoyed them very much. The Island Baja has the perfect amount of ingredients in the sandwich, tasted so fresh and so delicious. The tomato, cucumber, sprouts, baja mayo sauce, avacado and chicken was such a good combo and it wasn't to filling which is perfect. Mrs. Gorger got the tuna sandwich and I personally don't like tuna but that HIT the spot. It was very tasty. Overall, food was amazing and would definitely go back there again. Always look forward to buying a deli sandwich during my lunch break but just for them to take my order takes them at least 10 minutes! Mind you, I only get a 30 minute lunch break. And the prepping time takes them 15 minutes! That's already 25 minutes wasted of my lunch just waiting for my sandwich. Today I order a Turkey Wrap. Took them 5 whole minutes for them to take my order and a whole 10 minutes to make my wrap. There was no line for sandwiches except an order of two sandwiches but all I saw were the workers chitchatting amongst each other instead of prepping (hence doing their job). Got my wrap and paid which took less than 2 minutes. While eating my wrap I noticed that my wrap didn't even have turkey in it. Headed over to the deli to see if they could make me a new one but immediately turned around because their workers were just chitchatting with each other and there was already a long line of people waiting on their order. Just went to the cashier to ask for my refund. Didn't even take a picture because I was already so disappointed and frustrated that I just wanted my money back. I was impressed by the variety stocked. Prices were reasonable too. I was surprised by the amount of items that were locked up. I'm guessing for Loss Prevention. I grabbed my boxes headed up to the register. Karen was friendly, she asked if I needed a bag which I politely declined. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Way better than than previous pharmacies we've used. This store gets a bad rap because of all the homeless looting the store - emptying its shelves. It's a daily battle, they've tried security at the doors, but for whatever reason they don't have it anymore. They should permanently close off the door on Kettner and create a booze only counter with the liquor behind it, not accessible to the customer unless they are buying it at the booze counter.

It appeared that the wide variety of selection was set for libations rather than other items in the store. For the footprint of the store it seems that there just wasn't enough room in house to accommodate that. Like I said, because the libations took up a solid two aisles. That meant that the rest of the aisles were left to have items fight for counter space. Unfortunately on both of my visits here I did not find what I needed and had to venture elsewhere to get those items. Customer service wasn't too bad here, they were attentive to the needs of those in the store, but at some points they appeared to be bothered to help you at first. It is what it is. I view this more as a community convenience store than a Rite Aid. I suppose if you live in the neighborhood it is better than trekking to wherever to get a quick item.

At one time or another, I've been shopping when theft had occurred and while they've tried security, it didnt seem to help with theft. They now have the expensive items or easy-to-steal or mostly stolen items locked-up. Which is great for the business, but not so much for loyal customers when you want to grab, pay and go. Today I didnt mind as there was time to get my items. I shop here occasionally as I am an ExtraCard member and get free shipping for items, I typically opt to use that benefit. They offer this for $5 a month plus you recieve $10 in extracareBucks each month! Its a win-win. In any event, I've never had a bad experience. Employees are always nice, I have not utilized the pharmacy in a few years since switching insurances but did notice that they are closed for lunch, so be mindful. Photo is quick, while some items/photo may be out of stock during promotional time, they are good about informing you. If you are coming at the end of the week, be mindful that couponers may have cleared some of the items you came shopping for! I have used ordering online and pickup in store at this location as well, and never had an issue. Since the last time I came shopping, things have been moved around. So glad they are still here and you can still find some amazing deals especially with the manufacturer coupons, CVS personalized coupons and the cash back "extraBucks" - it has definitely changed how couponing was pre-covid but still better than paying full price when compared to the inflation of everything nowadays!
