First visit to Walgreens in San Diego. I lucked out and got the last parking spot. This was on Friday afternoon. Needed to stock up on condoms, specifically Magnums and SKYNs. I was impressed by the variety stocked. Prices were reasonable too. I was surprised by the amount of items that were locked up. I'm guessing for Loss Prevention. I grabbed my boxes headed up to the register. Karen was friendly, she asked if I needed a bag which I politely declined. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I've decided to switch to Walgreens pharmacy. When I went in, there was only one person ahead of me in line and about six or seven employees working in the back. After waiting 15 minutes, I asked if someone else could assist since there were now six people in line. One staff member, a heavier man probably in his 40s refused to even look up or acknowledge me. The pharmacist then came to the window and told me no one else could help. In the end, it took 25 minutes to get my prescription, despite only one person being at the counter ahead of me. The employee who finally assisted me didn't know his own name when I asked for it. He said it was his first day and wasn't wearing a name tag. Between the lack of professionalism, the dismissive attitude, and the long wait, the experience was completely unacceptable. read more

Reached out to customer service advised that the department that works on the site will update the discrepancy. Since it wasn't updated I should receive the item(s) as to what the website advertise. I specifically ordered my husband's migraine meds on 12/26/25 because I wanted the medication to be available before the end of the year. This was because he had already met the $2,000 max OOP with Medicare. When we went to pick it up on 12/29, we were told it had not been ordered and they put the order through that day instead. Consequently, the medication did not arrive until 1/2/2026 and we now have to pay full price. I called the pharmacy and was met with the rudest, most entitled woman I've ever encountered via phone. I couldn't believe it. I said I didn't appreciate the way she was speaking to me and would really just like to fill my prescription. She then said I was rude for calling out her behavior and tried engaging in petty insults. She was clearly disinterested in filling my prescription. I'm very polite, as I also work in customer service, but I eventually just couldn't do it anymore and hung up. Basic math. Common sense. Needed 200mg Zoloft. Doctor prescription on file. But Walgreens ran out. So I asked for 100mg x2 to ensure dosage is not missed. Refused and said to return in another week. I leave for a trip in 3 days. Same pharmacy gave me 100 mg of trazodone but prescription was 50mg so told me to cut in half??!!! Finally, I've been in their lines while I witnessed other patients frustrated at prescription issues. I have been a Walgreens customer for many years at various stores around the country & 99% of the time had excellent service. Sadly the store at 301 University in Hillcrest, San Diego has been slipping noticeably for months now & today reached a new low. I was very patient waiting for almost 10 minutes (with no other customers around) when the pharmacy tech (obviously in a bad mood about something) barked "NAME" at me then after I gave my name politely & even spelled it I continued to give my first name & address then she shouted back "WAIT WAIT WAIT"... Everything! First, what pharmacy closes at 1900 hours. 2. I CALLED the majority of the day on hold. No one ever answers the phone. 3. The red head tech has a nasty attitude because THEY don't answer their phone. My doc sent my prescription in at 1100 hours TODAY and at 1900, I still don't have my meds. Come back tomorrow. This happened last month as well. I was sitting beside a person who stated never call because the pharmacy NEVER answers the phone. So, I have to wait AGAIN like last month to get my meds the next day. Then the red head tech tells my partner we can go to another pharmacy that stays open late knowing good and damn well class II drugs are NOT transferable. I love this Walgreens!!! So lucky that it's near me and open late! The staff is always so nice and friendly when I come in. Even when I look like hot trash (always) or come in with a sketch shopping list (qtips and rubbing alcohol) they're always so sweet and kind. I have a special rapport with the guy who's here late at night (call me if you're reading this lol) he's amazing and everything. I'm really writing this review because I just went in there with a "coupon" to earn $9 with a purchase. At the register the girl helping me was like, "you know this is to earn right?" It was so sweet of her to check in like that!!! And I came in to buy toilet paper and bought a metric shitton (get it?) like it's still 2020, and she gave me plastic straps to carry it home!!!!! Seriously my hero. Actually thinking back I think I've submitted surveys to Walgreens.com or whatever for the great service I've experienced here. Btw they have a pretty good beauty section, they have things that I feel are niche or hard to find like the brand of dry shampoo I like and even some things you normally see at Ulta/Sephora and not a drugstore. The Pharmacy never has my order ready in time. My doctor submitted an order, yesterday, and Walgreens told me (via text) they would start working on it. Came by and they were closed. Never bothered to tell me via text. Since my order was for a much needed antibiotic, this left me very concerned as I needed to start taking the meds ASAP. So, I went the next day (today) at around 10am. Order not ready. They told me it would take about 15 minutes. Nope...took 50 minutes. I do not recommend that you choose this location. Was on vacation in San Diego and staying a block away in Hillcrest and happened to need some allergy meds (who knew allergies would follow me from Nashville to CA!?!) and so we swung in this Walgreens. I was after the basic allergy meds plus a cough/decongestant and to my surprise they were wiped out of meds of this variety. The shelves looked like they had just been ransacked and unfortunately there was no alternative or additional stock available per the staff. The staff was apologetic and tried to help me figure out an alternative, but again they did not have anything beyond pain relievers, so off to another location I went. Worst pharmacy I've ever been to. I regrettably transferred a prescription their because CVS was out of stock and for a week I was told they were "running behind." Finally I went in only to be told I had never transferred it to them and they didn't have any record anywhere in their system of my prescription. I told him multiple times what it was for and he said nope, there's nothing here. After a lot of back and forth he suddenly did have it in their system but then told me they couldn't fill it as they were still waiting for a doctor's authorization (after a week?) and that I needed to wait. After waiting a while I gave up and asked to transfer it back to CVS thinking I'd find a CVS somewhere that had it in stock. That's when he denied ever telling me they didn't have it. I gave up and walked away and went to CVS where they were super nice and helped me transfer it back. The Walgreens pharmacy staff on University is incompetent and disrespectful. I bought a Walgreens branded product and I needed to return it. I wanted to exchange it for a similar item. I did not have a receipt. Because of this, the manager had to handle this personally. Get this: it didn't scan. It was a Walgreens product! It was as if it had no UPC code. He told me that because I didn't buy it at that particular location, he couldn't help me. Very poor service. The pharmacy was far behind on filling prescriptions and had the line backed up. Several customers in front of me waited excessive amounts of time. That would have been okay if the young man at the front desk and the pharmacist hadn't been rude. My scheduled appointment was not present on their sheet of paper, but I did have the email confirmation. The front worker and the pharmacist both had an attitude and were rude as the issue was resolved. Would use any other pharmacy close by before going back to this particular Walgreens. read more

This is the absolute worst & most inefficient pharmacy I have ever used. After waiting 30 mins today, I promised myself that I would never use them again even though they are only 3 blocks away. Earlier that day, I waited on the phone for 17+ minutes and was just constantly fed back into the on-hold system when it was my turn. I have been waiting 1 week for them to fill my Rx. When I finally hung-up (after the 17+ mins) I called another location in La Jolla and was told that it should only have taken 1 additional day for the med to have arrived - that is IF they had actually ordered it in the first place. And this situation is commonplace for them & for me. In addition, 1 month earlier I had waited 1 hour beyond my vaccine appt. which, is not unusual for many others who have reported the same. This shows that every facet of their operation is sub-par. So far, I'm unimpressed. After waiting on hold for 25 minutes yesterday (until the point at which I was cut off), I went into the store to have my prescription filled. I called this location to confirm they had COVID testing kits, spoke with a gentleman who said they did and agreed to place one to the side for me, as I was 15 minutes away. Upon arrival, the manager stated he didn't know who would tell me that because they don't have any. He didn't offer a time frame or resolution to the problem, including making any attempt to identify the source. i made an appointment at 3:00 for one shot I came in 10 minutes early to check in and they made me wait a whole hour and didn't see me untill 4:00 and no one else was coming in. when I make an appointment usally they see me around the time I make my appointment not an hour later if they wasn't able to see me at 3:00 don't let anyone make in appointmen because you are wasting everyone's times. I spent more than an hour trying to get my prescription. In this time, they kept trying to give me another person's medication that had the same last name. I repeatedly told them my full name and they did the SAME mistake 2-3 times. Not once did they ask to verify any detail of the prescription or account before handing me over a bag that wasn't mine. I mean, giving me details regarding someone else's prescription (with name) is clearly a HIIPA violation. read more

I had to call this pharmacy 5 times in order to ensure they would fill a prescription correctly, I'm still on hold with them because they continue to screw up. My doctor wrote my RX for a 90 day supply. My prescription refill was delayed for days when I was completely out because the staff was unable to follow directions. They kept filling it for 30 days. The doctor wrote it for 90. As of now they still have not been able to fill my prescription correctly and I do not have access to my medication. I will seriously never use this pharmacy again as they've continued to make my life far more complicated than it needs to be! Just follow directions and fill the prescription as the doctor instructed, it really isn't that complicated! read more

This was one of the worse experiences I've had at wallgreens.. the night manager with the weird accent and glasses was by far the rudest man I've ever had to deal with.. I was shopping for normal things.make up.. shampoo... Ect I had gotten Oreos..and well I got a emergency call and placed the Oreos down and was only getting what the person who called me needed being that they were sick.. he yelled from the other end and was saying how rude it was and asked me to bring the cookies him which I did and as I was doing is was saying how he was right and apologizing multiple times.. trying to explain I was in a hurry and having a bad day that I was sorry over and.over he wouldn't stop continuing to call me rude and asking me what else I was buying and saying I needed help which I didn't I him to please leave.me alone multiple times that I was leaving after I get shampoo... I get my prescriptions filled at the Community Pharmacy which is part of Walgreens. As you get your normal prescriptions filled, you get reward points. The reward points translate to real money in the end. Say you accumulate 20000 points, this is worth about $20. So after getting an appropriate amount, you can go over to the Walgreens pharmacy and store and redeem the points. I needed to get Alleve over the counter pain reliever and another item and went over to this new Walgreens in Hillcrest. I was impressed with the cleanliness and newness of it all, it was quite small but it had the essentials. It was cleaner than the CVS and not as big as either with both only several blocks of each other. But if you need something simple, this would be a better place to go. Rite Aid seems less a pharmacy than a mini Walmart with drugs, while CVS...well you know CVS and I know CVS. So with the points, my Alleve was free. Overall, something new, small, I can use points. It's Alright and ItsOk. as Whitney would say!!! read more
