After moving back to the Bay Area from Southern California in 2013, I had been going to multiple barber shops all throughout the Bay, searching for that one shop and barber that would get the details just right with my cut. I was referred to Sharp Barber Shop from a friend, as this shop just opened up. After hearing about the work they did and reading the reviews on Yelp, I decided to give them a try. I did a walk-in (no appointment) for my first visit. EJ was the barber that helped me out. He is very professional and personable. Before even working on my hair, he asked what I wanted (which is standard). I told him, and before getting the clippers out and chopping away, he took the extra time to REALLY UNDERSTAND exactly how I wanted it. He was very thorough with what he was going to do, and even gave suggestions, which I appreciated and took. He made sure to set the right expectations for my cut. He even set the expectations for future cuts, if I planned to come back (which I plan on doing!) For me, what stood out the most was that EJ took the extra time to really understand my hair and what I wanted. Best consultation I've had. I've been to a number of shops, and not one barber I've had has done that. I can tell this guy is passionate at what he does, and I have no doubt that he and this shop will go far. If you're looking for a gentlemen's cut, comfortable/relaxed/classy place, and trust-worthy team of barbers, this is your place! read more

After a long day at work, I arrived at my appointment with Jack and was greeted with a smile, a welcome from every barber in the shop, and a cold beer. I'm awful at explaining how I want my haircut, but Jack nailed it anyway. Great atmosphere, fantastic service. I've found my East Bay barbershop! read more

I've been having Sheldon cut my hair for years and I've never bet let down. Since hes opened his new shop in lafayette i couldn't be happier. The old school vibe and cleanliness is something I haven't ever seen before. They have a great crew in their with incredible talent. read more

SHARP Barber Shop - Barbers Near Me - Lafayette, California

If you're lucky enough to get an appointment at sharp, don't miss it! This is the Bay Areas best barbershop, it has GQ vibe with the classic hometown man's man good time fellas hangout feel, but never lacking on the quality and class of the cut or shave! The owner is a long time Bay Area local and Barber to the SF Giants. He is self made and I can't think of one negative comment, nor have I ever heard a bad thing about him from anyone. He started cutting my sons hair when he was a toddler and my son loves getting his haircut! Although it is a barbershop, as a women, I do not feel uncomfortable or unwelcome inside! Sheldon is gracious, humble and welcoming every time. For some reason I am always nervous about the haircut because I am picky, but every single time it is exactly what I want, perfect, and they are ridiculously kind and accomodating! Sit back, relax and enjoy yourself at this hidden gem! You won't regret it! The service is way above par, the whole place is a homerun, worth every penny, we actually travel quite a distance to get... here but as I said, it is worth it! My son always comes home looking super fresh and clean, with a big smile! read more

Having the right barber is like having the right Dr. or like trusting your kids with a stranger. That's what Sheldon was to me. In my 28 years of life I have only had 4 people ever cut my hair. The past 3.5 years I have trusted Sheldon with my hair and I cannot be more satisfied. Sheldon's judgement and integrity is reflected in his work ethic. Ej, one of the other barbers in the shop; great attitude, personable, professional. I can tell these guys will go far with their love for the trade and the vision for making each haircut the best it can be. Finally, great prices and great location are an added bonus! TLDR: If you want quality and attention to detail, you'll get an amazing cut by someone who is passionate about their trade. read more

Just discovered this great barber shop! The perfect combination...a terrific haircut with style while sitting in a restored vintage chair with a scotch in my hand...BRILLIANT! Angelo cut my hair. I will be coming back! read more

Visited Dustin the other day for a beard clean up. Little weary because he is an apprentice but I had confidence in his service because of the shop reputation. He had the master barber there to help him when needed but had it down pretty good. Beard and conversation were great. I'll definitely be back, excited to see Dustin keep growing. read more

I have been going to Sheldon for six years now and I won't go anywhere else. I'm so happy that he has made his dream of opening his own shop a reality. The first time at a new barber shop can always be scary. Not with Sheldon! Excellent service and the best haircut in the Bay Area! Shortly after walking in, you'll feel like you're hanging out with old friends. And when you leave, you'll feel like a new man! If you've got time, get a shave as well. You can tell customer service and a quality haircut is important to Sheldon because the other barbers in his shop have the same values. I look forward to my standing appointment every other Friday. Treat yourself to a haircut and shave from Sheldon or one of the other guys. Trust me. You will not regret it. And you will keep coming back! read more

This shop continues to stand the test of time. Since my last review, I have seen a few more barbers join the shop. All good charactered barbers! Grateful for the consistent quality haircuts here. read more

SHARP Barber Shop - Owner! - Barbers Near Me - Lafayette, California

I stumbled upon Sharp Barber shop this afternoon as a walk in. Luckily they had a cancellation and Sheldon, the owner, was able to accommodate. I do recommend making a reservation as the place was packed and they run a tight ship. These guys are pros and I'm glad to say I've found my new monthly spot. Sheldon asked a bunch of meaningful questions about how I wanted my cut styled. Questions that I wouldn't have thought to ask nor do other barbers, and he did a great job. The straight razor shave was one added bonus, the other being a drink on the house while you're getting your cut. It's got the old barber shop feel but will hip music and great conversation. Everybody is involved in what they do. Good job guys, see you next time. read more

Best Barbers Period. Sheldon is amazing. EJ is fantastic. They've taken the time to figure out my hair/head and continually improve it. read more

Solid cut from Jaime, going back here in a few months. I recommend this place for anyone wanting something clean.

This shop is where one goes to get a skilled cut and check in with their community. What the barbers are building is a community space with a purpose. So you not only leave with a cut that makes you feel good but you feel like you have caught up with friends. But Sheldon, E.J. Gabe, Angelo and my son's barber Dustin are on point with their skill. Lafayette is lucky to have this shop and that is why many drive from all over the east bay for their cuts read more

These guy know their stuff. Enthusiastic, authentic and friendly. You won't be disappointed.

I have had trouble for years finding a barber that I can genuinely trust to cut my hair. A few months back I was notified by a friend of mine to go see EJ and let him work his magic. Hesitantly, I decided to take the leap of faith and try out a new barber. Not knowing what to expect, I walked up the stairs to SHARP Barber Shop and was immediately greeted by EJ and Sheldon. I knew right then and there this was going to be my new home. After about 30 minutes of EJ doing his thing, he handed me a mirror to see my new haircut and I was in total shock of what I saw. To say the least I was not disappointed and decided to schedule my next visit right on the spot. Hands down, best haircut I have ever had in my 25 years of living. (Fast forward 6 months) I currently reside in San Francisco which is quite far from SHARP in Lafayette. However, I will make time about every 4 weeks to go see EJ because I refuse to let anyone else cut my hair. His attention to detail and making you feel welcome is part of the fantastic atmosphere EJ and Sheldon have created at SHARP. I can honestly say I have not had a single unpleasant visit or haircut since my first time 6 months ago. In fact, I look forward to every appointment I have with EJ. I would recommend EJ, Sheldon, and SHARP Barber Shop to all ages. I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

I am very impressed with the guys at SHARP Barber shop. Great, friendly conversation with a first class haircut. Highly recommended...

A few friends told me about SHARP and their great experiences. Had my first haircut there with EJ. Best barber experience I've ever had. Gave simple guidance on how I like my hair cut and within 10-minutes EJ gave me one of the best haircuts I've had in years. I'll keep going back based on this type of experience. Great atmosphere and a cool shop as well. read more

I'm a bit of a barber, hair, beard snob and honest feedback is this is the best shop i've been to. Gabe is a master of his craft and so are all the other guys. Fun atmosphere and something I look forward to every few weeks. Cant wait for things to open back up and get back to normal! read more

Gabe is Fantastic! My boyfriend always has a great cut and i wish i could clean his bead up like he does. I even like booking an apt through the app for him. :) Highly recommend this Place. read more

EJ and I connected at a networking event. We immediately clicked. As a photographer, I am always looking for resources for my clients, so they look and feel fabulous before they get in front of my camera. I first referred my oldest son (26) and we both raved about his cut and the extra care he gave his beard. I then sent over a little less then a dozen guys, including a groom-to-be and every single one of them looked amazing. They ranged from a classic cut, fade to a faux-hawk... EJ has great skills and I will continue to recommend him to all my dads for family portraits, grooms for engagements and wedding day and professions for their personal branding shoots! THANK YOU EJ!!! read more

This place is amazing! Great guys doing great work! I booked Dustin, the apprentice, ($20 bucks btw) bc all the regular spots were filled. I was a little hesitant but figured hey it's not a tattoo so if he fucks it up it'll grow back;) Dustin has a great eye and went way above and beyond and crushed it! Better than I imagined! Sheldon the owner and EJ are some cool OGs for sure! Everyone who worked there or came in for a cut were great! Had a great time Chopin' up with the boys and was a little sad I had to leave! Ps thanks for the whisky! See you in 2 weeks! read more

Great establishment! Price is worth the quality of the cut, EJ is a great barber along with the rest of their crew I can hardly trust any other barber to cut my hair, Sharp Barber Shop is certainly the way to go without a doubt! read more

Best haircut I've ever had in my life! No joke. I didn't know what I was missing. Also, my beard has never looked better. Thanks EJ! Dan.

Working in Concord and needed a haircut. I ran into EJ at Magees a local dive bar in Pleasant Hill. He told he was a barber and I decided to give him a try! Definitely worth it! Excellent customer service! Great haircut! I will definitely be back when I am in town! read more

This place was pretty awesome. I had an idea for what I wanted, but Angelo had a different suggestion. I decided to let him at it, and it turned out great. I love my new style and can't be happier. If you're into beer or whiskey, they have a glass for you. If not, it's all good. I had a great conversation with them. No reservation needed (not necessarily recommended). Sure, it's a little pricey compared to the chain haircut places, but you do get what you pay for. Give them a shot. This is now my go-to place when I'm in town. read more

I have been getting my hair cut by Gabe for years. Followed him from another barber shop to Sharp. I can say hands down that all the barbers in Sharp are very skilled, super rad, and create a vibe where you just want to kick it for a minute and not rush off. Do yourself a favor: let them work a little magic on ya. read more

After issues at a few other Barber's, I found Sharp and have not looked back. The entire staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and ready to make you look your best. It's been 3.5 years and people still stop to ask about where I got my haircut. Get an appointment and stop by, you won't be disappointed read more

First time was casual and friendly. This isn't a hipster pretentious place. The owner welcomes you in like your best friend. Feels like you're heading over to a buddy's house. And then you witness some mad scissor and razor skills. For me, most barbers just don't understand my hair. They seem to have skills best suited for black labs or sheep. I don't want to get sheared, I want to look good. I have baby fine blonde hair. It shows scissor lines easy and sits up like a cowlick if not done with some finesse. I'm set. Found my barber. read more

I gave specific instructions on how I wanted my hair cut. No mirror to watch progress. When I got done, it was probably the worst haircut I ever had. read more

My homie Angelo gave me my haircut for my wedding and it was awesome. He cares about my haircut and has always double checked with me to make sure every little aspect is just right. All these guys are good but Angelo hooks it up. The other two guys there are awesome as well and one of them is the owner and expects quality from his booth renters. It shows. It doesn't hurt to make an appointment in advance so I'll give them a call before you need a cut. I'm glad to be a customer here. Especially if you like good fades and dapper looks. But go see Angelo. You won't regret it. read more

If you appreciate the classic barbershop feel, a good conversation, and a fresh cut, Sharp is your spot. Was long overdue for haircut and walked away with the arguably the best cut I've had in a long time. I'm typically very particular/picky with my hair, but props to JB for giving me exactly the look I was going for. HIGHLY recommend sharp and JB. Will definitely be coming back. read more

Worth the trip from anywhere in The Bay. I'm now in my 40's and have started to thin a bit here and there. I left my salon stylist a year ago once I started to notice it. Although she is fantastic for women's hair and color, she just didn't know men's hair enough to recommend options for my changing look. I've tried many barbers in the East Bay, some better than others. My son (17) actually recommended this place to me after being referred there by a friend and leaving with an awesome style. Here, I've finally found artists that not only understand men's hair but are also cool to be around and are well-studied in their craft! After returning home from my first cut, my wife said, "Wow, that's the look you've been trying for!" They've made me a fan for sure. read more

This is exactly what every Barber shop should be, plain and simple. I walked in, was greeted kindly and despite my waking in nearly at closing, these guys made time. E.J. greeted me warmly and offered me a drink, his next appointment wasn't there yet so he sat down and we talked like old friends, despite my never having been there. Every barber worked, chatted, and the place felt like home. Angelo, who was my barber, not only was great to talk to but did a GREAT job with my hair. I will be coming back and the next time I fly to California, it will be the first place I visit, and then I will go back when it's time to leave. read more

I went into Sharp today and was floored by how awesome this place is. I saw EJ for a beard trim and like others they walked me through what my vision was, and gave me suggestions based on how my beard grows. All throughout the trim EJ gave me tips about maintenance and upkeep of my beard. This was very welcome information as I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff. The place is oozing with positivity and everyone clearly loves what they do. At the end of it they didn't try to push any product on me or up-sale me, even after giving me tons of tips on what to do and what not to do. I'd recommend this place to everyone, and I will DEFINITELY be back. read more

Great barber shop. EJ did a fantastic job. Highly recommended. Great value, seems like an original heritage barber shop. Much better and more authentic than all the other places around here in the East Bay. Go here, you won't regret it. read more

I've been getting my haircut every other week for about 25 years and appreciate a traditional men's barbershop. I've met tons of barbers over the years and these guys are by far the best. Extreme attention to detail and truly in touch with their clients needs. I recommend Sheldon and his crew all the time. I've personally had cuts by Sheldon and EJ, they are amazing. I've met all the other barbers and they love what they do and it shows. You will not be disappointed and won't ever want to leave. read more

I have been struggling for years to get my hair to grow back after medical issues and family genetics started rearing its ugly head. Luckily the issues stopped and my hair grew back in. So I started looking for barbershops. I found a few but they were either further away or in an area that I can't find parking. So I searched a little more and found Sharp Barbershop amazingly in the town I live in. The reviews looked right, the decor and visual attitude online looked right so I scheduled an appointment with EJ. I came in the day of my appointment, he correctly pronounced my name which is always a bonus, showed him pictures of what I wanted and he worked his magic. I have been going back every month since my first appointment. I am treated well, have good conversations and enjoy myself during my little break from the hustle and bustle of my everyday life. I highly recommend Sharp Barbershop for all your male haircut needs, especially old school traditional classics like pomps and executive contours. read more

I'm an old fart. These are young, hip guys. They cut my hair three weeks ago for the second time. This is the best haircut I've had - possibly ever! Even three weeks later, it still looks good and works well, even if I do say so. I recommended them to my 26 year old son with hair below shoulder length and a beard just as long - he had that whole duck dynasty thing going on. They transformed this man into something incredible! He walked into my business and my staff went crazy and so did I. They cut his hair and trimmed/shaped his beard. Unbelieveable results and my son was thrilled to death. These guys are great! Your'e just plain stupid if you don't give them a shot. Believe me, you really can look better. Don't believe me? Just look at yourself in the mirror - you really could use these guys. read more

Nothing I hate more than false YELP reviews. So when I hear of "give us a 5-star review and we'll give you this" it bothers me, and it sucks because I was not too happy with their demeanor. I will say the place is very cool. But for what you pay and the results you get, you may as well go 6 times to SuperCut and nobody would know the difference. Really. And no I don't work for SuperCut, though I do send my son there. read more

These guys are awesome. Inviting environment, great conversations and even better haircut and beard trim.
