Visited Dustin the other day for a beard clean up. Little weary because he is an apprentice but I had confidence in his service because of the shop reputation. I stumbled upon Sharp Barber shop this afternoon as a walk in. Luckily they had a cancellation and Sheldon, the owner, was able to accommodate. I do recommend making a reservation as the place was packed and they run a tight ship. These guys are pros and I'm glad to say I've found my new monthly spot. I have had trouble for years finding a barber that I can genuinely trust to cut my hair. A few months back I was notified by a friend of mine to go see EJ and let him work his magic. Hesitantly, I decided to take the leap of faith and try out a new barber. Not knowing what to expect, I walked up the stairs to SHARP Barber Shop and was immediately greeted by EJ and Sheldon. I knew right then and there this was going to be my new home. After about 30 minutes of EJ doing his thing, he handed me a mirror to see my new haircut and I was in total shock of what I saw. To say the least I was not disappointed and decided to schedule my next visit right on the spot. Hands down, best haircut I have ever had in my 25 years of living. (Fast forward 6 months) I currently reside in San Francisco which is quite far from SHARP in Lafayette. First time was casual and friendly. This isn't a hipster pretentious place. The owner welcomes you in like your best friend. Feels like you're heading over to a buddy's house. And then you witness some mad scissor and razor skills. For me, most barbers just don't understand my hair. They seem to have skills best suited for black labs or sheep. Worth the trip from anywhere in The Bay. I'm now in my 40's and have started to thin a bit here and there. I left my salon stylist a year ago once I started to notice it. Although she is fantastic for women's hair and color, she just didn't know men's hair enough to recommend options for my changing look. I went into Sharp today and was floored by how awesome this place is. I saw EJ for a beard trim and like others they walked me through what my vision was, and gave me suggestions based on how my beard grows. All throughout the trim EJ gave me tips about maintenance and upkeep of my beard. This was very welcome information as I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff. The place is oozing with positivity and everyone clearly loves what they do. At the end of it they didn't try to push any product on me or up-sale me, even after giving me tons of tips on what to do and what not to do. I'm an old fart. These are young, hip guys. They cut my hair three weeks ago for the second time. This is the best haircut I've had - possibly ever! Even three weeks later, it still looks good and works well, even if I do say so. I recommended them to my 26 year old son with hair below shoulder length and a beard just as long - he had that whole duck dynasty thing going on. They transformed this man into something incredible! He walked into my business and my staff went crazy and so did I. They cut his hair and trimmed/shaped his beard. Unbelieveable results and my son was thrilled to death. These guys are great!
