I've said in my other reviews and I'll say it again, Orinda's downtown is going through something of a revival: first with the tiki bar, then with the sushi restaurant under new ownership, the new fish shop, our first spin studio, a beautiful new plant shop and now an excellent and modern barbershop! I've been hiking up to Napa to see my favourite barber of 8 years who moved out from the Bay during COVID. But that's a long way, so I've tried a bunch of different barbershops in the East Bay - but Silver Fox Barber is definitely my favourite of the lot and the one I'll be back to! And you can't beat the location - right by BART, easy parking at Theatre Square, and very close to various Orinda watering holes like Fourth Bore and Boo Loo Lounge (the tiki bar). Plus Dave is a great conversationalist and provides excellent service. The barbershop is spacious and was renovated for their opening - with full hair wash stations (included as part of the cut, which was a pleasant surprise given how rare that is for men's cuts). read more

I used to go to this shop when it was in Rockridge and recently booked an appointment at their Orinda location. After a 35 minute drive to get there I was turned away as Rachel, my barber I has an appointment with, wasn't there, and according to Dave, "hasn't been seen or heard from all day." Dave checked with another barber and neither he nor Dave could get me in. So over an hour wasted in traffic and no haircut and nothing from the owner other than a "sorry man."
