Review Visit: November 12th, 2016…read more I wonder if they have a Peoria Buffet in Hong Kong... ha. Ok, lame jokes aside, I may have found a new love at this buffet. Jalapeno Pepper Chicken. Soooo good. I generally get General Tsao's (or Tso's) because it is supposed to have a nice spicy kick to it, but this takes the cake. General is hit and miss at places on spicyness, but I think Jalapeno Pepper Chicken would have a consistent spicy kick due to the... well, peppers. A few of the items on the buffet were meh. The sweet and sour chicken was a bit dough-y. Sugar biscuits had clumps of sugar instead of it being evenly distributed. General Tsao's was not spicy, but was still good. We came here for my friends birthday and I am pretty sure I have been here before to eat. I know my friend comes here at least once a week to get food to go. Yup, they sell food to go. Probably charge by the weight of the container? I don't know. I typically don't add buffets to my travel list. Why exactly? I don't have a specific reason, really. But I've added this and Grand Village Buffet now, so there are exceptions to my rules. This one is a bit pricey. The price for a dinner on a Saturday night was $15 and change. All in all, a pretty good buffet. The service was prompt. Selection was decent and plentiful despite them closing 90 minutes after we got there. Online reviews are hit and miss, but that seems standard for any Chinese buffet/restaurant.

I thought it was great. Usual Chinese buffet food but the addition of fried and boiled shrimp was a…read morenice upgrade. Slightly more expensive than other buffets but bigger selection.

It would be maddening to see price gouging if the food was not an ideal set of ingredients. Unlike an unfortunate city grill in downtown San Francisco last June, this chef has full skills and quality meats. Gumbo and clam chowder are rich and show off delicate proteins blended well into harty sauces. Tuna salad sandwich disappeared before the rest. Grouper, alas for its budget cuts because we needed more of that high class Caribbean cruise cuisine. But the nachos, they won the party, we started off with them and the next day continued to comment how annoyingly small they were. They desperately need an XXL size option for big table sharing! The cocktails seem also silly for the prices so I avoided them. Little in the tiki fashion to befriend the entrees and oddly not much house seasonal drinks either, was fine enough when I learned the Anchor Head brew blew my doors off! A fantastic lager, smooth, clean, easy to drink, that is how we like it. Staff was spot on to first ask about drinks while we waited for a table then escort us to one that opened up minutes later. Everyone was in tune throughout the night and we never felt waiting for service. Paying attention to the pennies, this is still a decent option alongside the excellent Kemp 208 in Morton and 2cheys in Peoria for indulging, relaxing, and meeting up to get those great land and sea meats.

Really great vibe inside, service was prompt and pleasant great cocktails. Had the steak sandwich…read moreadded fries and onion soup. The soup wasn't what I was expecting. But it was delicious. Had 2 slices of bread instead of the usual single and was really perfect that should be the new usual. Steak sandwich was delicious. The fries came with some kind of mildly spicy dipping sauce that was just dynamite.

Ambiance = to any other restaurant in the country…read more Service = to the finest restaurants in the US. Food = to anything worldwide. The owner/chef came out to introduce himself since he was informed that my wife and I were celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. This was our first time ever at the restaurant and I am disappointed that while living in Peoria, IL for 50 years I never had been there before. Now it's the only place I will go out to dinner at when I am in Peoria. The address is actually listed as 3218 N. Dries Lane in Peoria, IL and is across from the old Landmark Theatre on Dries Ln. You can actually locate it off of University St. also.

I went to the host stand and inquired as to our table. I was told it was the best they could do,…read moreor we could sit on the patio out front. Did I mention it was over 90 that day?? Our servers were slow to the table. Introduced themselves saying the gent would be the main server and the lady would be helping. SHE did all the work. Never saw him again. We could hardly hear each other talk. We were practically yelling. Dinks finally arrived. Later I ordered another glass of wine which never arrived. When I asked about it, I was told we were lucky to get the first round due to how busy they were. I was shocked at the response. The food was unusually average. Two of the dishes contained lobster. One was overcooked, the other lacked flavor. Yes, there were large parties in the house that night, but that is their business to manage NOT an excuse. If they want to cater solely to large groups, then DON'T take my reservation. There is growing competition for places to go for a nice night out, I'll be sure this place is lower on my list going forward. I felt very disrespected. Not a feeling I've ever gotten from this place.
