The Fry Spot hits the spot. My dad looooooves french fries and once he discovered this place, I knew we would have to check it out before too long. We stopped in on a sunny Saturday afternoon and had no idea where exactly The Fry Spot was. We parked where the GPS told the location is but there was some construction tape and barrels up blocking off what looked like the front doors. We took a stroll around and found the entrance to Premier Event Center and headed inside. Once we got inside, we saw The Fry Spot in the back corner. I have no idea what exactly the Premier Event Center is but it seemed to have a bar and a dance floor and open at 11am. Interesting. We headed to the back and placed an order with an extremely friendly cashier. Each Fry meal started around $12 and didn't include any sides. Just the fries and the oodles of toppings. My dad grabbed the Philly Fry and I snagged the Buffalo Chicken Fry. The place wasn't busy so we basically had the place to our self. We sat and chatted while we watched people occasionally come in to place orders to go or picked up their phone orders. It was about 10 minutes or so before our food was ready. We headed up to the counter and the same cashier gave us our boxes of food, but before she did that, she opened it and made sure we were happy with what we were getting. No complaints here. Food and drinks in hand, we headed back to the table. I could feel the heat coming off the fries as I gazed at the wonders in front of me. Once I dug in, the heat transferred to my mouth via the buffalo sauce. Man, that was some hot stuff. Each bite was super delicious. The quality of the chicken (which I got grilled) was impeccable. I tried my dad's Philly Fries and I almost had a bit of food envy, which is funny since I typically don't care for Philly-flavored things. One thing to keep in mind is that with all the toppings and sauces, the fries will get soggy. You can try to treat this as a finger food but I would 100% suggest using a fork or shovel. The amount of fries and toppings you get is just enough to make you full without making you feel stuffed. I probably could've squeezed in a dessert cheesecake they had for sale but I was happy with how I feeling. This is quite the strange place in a stranger place. My dad said it best and he would love to see a place like this at an amusement park, theme park, or those town carnival/festivals that pop up during the spring and summer. I could see this being a food truck-type place that shows up for big events. Maybe if this place does well, they can expand to doing just those kinds of things. Small note to wrap this up... I do believe this restaurant was located elsewhere in Peoria at another time so if it seems familiar, that may be why. This is one spot you will want to check out.

I stumbled upon this place leaving a meeting. I love fries so I said why not stop at a place that specializes in fries‍. I wasn't disappointed...they had so many different options. I decided on the Philly fries and a piece of catfish filet and lemon shake up with peach flavor. All extremely delicious and it was soo much good for the price! Fish was fresh seasoned and crispy hot and the Philly fries were on point. The chef was great he came out and showed me the food before he put in bag and I could not wait to eat it! Overall great and good prices and it's black owned ! I'll be back on my next visit to Peoria which will be at least once a month and i let me colleagues know. The owner was there but didn't really speak, so I would say he probably should say a bit more because you never the business that someone could bring...

Chili Cheese (top) and Philly (bottom). Both were a hit with me and the fam.

The Philly was a huge hit for the adults. Chili cheese fries were a hit with the kids. Plenty of toppings but still a great balance of toppings to fries. These had to travel about 15 minutes to get home and were still great, so don't be afraid to order for pickup even if you're a few miles away. Another reviewer said the fries were too oily, but ours were great - definitely on the softer side (as fries go), but you have to expect that with so many toppings in the mix.

She recommended the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich. My sandwich was huge and contained a large portion of pulled pork meat. It was delicious and the homemade chipotle bbq mayo made it all the more satisfying with its rich smoky flavor! The Cuban-style black beans were right out of Miami! Very nicely prepared and included green peas, carrots, corn, and bell peppers, as well. My dining companion, for her part, ordered the Falafel platter, with a side order of gyro meat. The falafel (a dozen), were fresh, tasty, and just the right consistency. These were served with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pita, and hummus. The side order of gyro meat featured a generous portion of decadently succulent lamb shavings and included two portions of homemade tzatziki sauce. Everything we ate was prepared to perfection and could easily compete with exceptional restaurants in Chicago! Yes, the food at One World is that good. As for the service, our waitress Quincy was friendly and professional. As for the ambiance and decor--we arrived ahead of the lunch crowd, so it was pretty quiet. The decor, however, is nicely done. The premises were clean and well maintained. Ditto the restrooms. The restaurant is actually huge. There are multiple dining areas and in the summer there is an outside patio behind the restaurant, as well. As for pricing and affordability--quality costs, and the food here is definitely a cut above. That being said, the owners have priced the entrees quite reasonably considering the generous portion-size and quality of the food. My overall opinion? If you want a dining experience worthy of comparison to the best Chicagoland has to offer, but don't want to make the long drive--or pay twice as much--then I highly recommend this little gem of a locally-owned restaurant in Peoria!

I got the thai chicken pizza and it was SO good. The hot honey was a little sweeter than I expected, however the jalepeno balanced it well. The hummus also was hands down one of the best I have ever had. Still thinking about it. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was the service. Everything was fine until it came to pay. I don't know if our server disappeared or something but we waited 30-45 minutes to get our check which was semi-frustrating. Anyways, 10/10 food. Very unique. Very different. I recommend!!!

Is Main Street a mainstay?…read more Word-of-mouth brought me and my dad to trying this place out on a cold and blustery Saturday morning. He had heard good things and I had heard the same so we figured to see what we thought of it. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were told to take a booth to our right. We sat down to a half-full but bustling restaurant. We got our menus and drinks promptly and started poring over the menu. My dad went with his usual country fried steak skillet-style meal and I went with a basic stack of pancakes and bacon. The vibe of the place was a generic blend of diner and family restaurant. Nothing really stood out to me that was unique besides this US Veterans table we were next to. I didn't get to snap a photo as they just cleaned it off and were about to sit down another group of people that just walked in. The waitress brought out our food and accidentally brought us a muffin instead of my bacon but was super quick to swap the two. Looking at my food and the price I paid and looking at my dad's food and the price he paid, I was instantly jealous he got so much more food for about the same price. The pancakes were large and plentiful compared to some places I've been and the bacon were long strips and not shriveled up and almost cooked too long. So why the mid rating? The waitress and staff overall weren't all that friendly. They weren't unpleasant by any means but the friendly chatting and banter you normally get at a restaurant was lacking here. There didn't seem to be a lot of mingling and cohesion to the staff that you see at most other restaurants. It was weird and if not a bit mechanical feeling. I'm not the most extroverted of people but a little bit of banter or chatting with the server is usually a plus. But most importantly is the food. How was it? Serviceable. The pancakes, even with the butter spread on it and plenty of syrup, were lacking a big punch of wow. Granted, it's just pancakes but I'd prefer to eat pancakes at a restaurant that don't feel like something I can make at home. The bacon was super tasty though. Just a bit disappointing that 3 strips were $3.99. My pops said he enjoyed his meal but it wasn't anything to write home about. I did try a small chunk of his country fried steak and it was decent, if not a bit overly crunchy/burnt on the steak portion. Overall, not a bad time with my dad but I just wish my meal wasn't lacking that punch for $12. I'd definitely come back and try a lunch item to see if that provides the oomph that eating out provides versus eating at home.

I very much dislike leaving reviews that aren't very nice, but our experience here wasn't the best…read morefor such a fine looking restaurant. First, I sought out a fine dining establishment, with vegetarian options, for my daughter's college graduation and the out of state guests attending. I selected this restaurant for its Cauliflower steak and other high end selections. But we were quite disappointed. I made reservations more than a week prior and was asked if we were celebrating a special occasion; yes a college graduation. I was also told I would receive a confirmation by text a day or two before. I tried calling two days before to confirm when I'd received no correspondence, just to be sure. I had to leave a message, asking for a call back. The day before our reservation I'd still not received a call back, nor confirmation text, so I called again during dinner hours. Nobody answered the phone, again I left a message to call me back. The day of graduation I called again during breakfast hours, again no one answered the phone and I left a message. Two hours prior to the reservation I called again, finally someone answered the phone. But this time I was on hold and passed around to three different people over a 10 minute period only to find out they weren't sure they had a reservation for me. So they made a reservation for us. We arrived one hour prior to the reservation and had some drinks at the bar just outside of the restaurant. Ten minutes prior to our reservation, which happened to be when the restaurant opened, I saw someone at the hostess station. I approached to check in, and was told she worked at the bar, but would get someone to help me. I went through two other people who again couldn't find our reservation, despite having just spoken to them less than two prior. I was asked, again, are we celebrating a special occasion. We were finally seated and given plenty of time to review the menu. When it came time to order they were out of two items on the menu, the cauliflower steak, and Tomahawk ribeye steak ($98). Needless to say we were more than disappointed since in our party we wanted both! My daughter, the graduate and a vegetarian, ended up eating a veggie patty sandwich with sweet potato fries. She was so disappointed in the food that she did not finish the sandwich nor the fries. I ordered a Harvest roasted beet salad with goat cheese. Since it was $14, I asked if it was a side or main course salad, told it was large enough to be two meals. When I received it, it was delicious BUT barely larger than a side salad. We were there almost two hours before any other customers arrived. We thought it strange. We wondered if it was a bad sign for a Saturday night, especially with what we went through to even get there. The service was excellent, yet we were never asked what we were celebrating. When reserving or a hostess asks you if there is a special occasion, you would think there may be a special welcoming, or table setting, or free dessert, but there was nothing. The bartender and drinks were wonderful. The food was basically good, but overpriced for the taste and portions. If I were in the area, I wouldn't patronize this establishment again.
