The drinks are great, the ladies at the bar are super friendly and the environment is great but the dj doesn't know how to keep a crown dancing. It's Friday night and there is no one dancing because the flow of the music is terrible. Will be back just for drinks.

Married couple and entire wedding party here... Weird as shit!

I dont know what to say... We went to P&L... My first time going whilst living here for 4 months... I was disappointed. There were girls walking around in bikini tops and jeans shorts that had no business doing so. *As bigoted as it sounds... Its still true* The shirtless men were sculpted which made them more noticeable. There were boxes I wanted to do box-jumps on... But too slippery from all the spilled drinks by dancing fools. The drinks were waaay over priced, but the sexy bartender did hook up my birthday boys drank so that was nice. The girl at the coat check/cover charge box was rude. You know who you are, because you know you be rude... ALL. DAY. LONG. Then a wedding party of about 40-50 came in and stole the show. It was awesome to see a bride in her $8000 wedding gown (trust me... it was nice) saturate all that spilled alcohol. Not my place for an after wedding throwdown... But they were having fun. This was the only "dancing" place we went to that night after McFaddens, because we did not want to pay cover again for something just as terrible... The only reason this isnt 1 star is relativity to the rest of the joints there and the sexy bartender that took care of the birthday boy. Ive been to these kinds of dance/bars places before... And I did not expect this on the P&L.

Came to Kansas City over the recent holidays to visit some friends, and Beer Kitchen came as a…read morelocal recommended place. Good food, good vibes, good beer selection, I was sold. So we loaded up and showed up one day around Noon. Ambiance was really cool. It's in the middle of some sort of progressive looking shanty-esque suburb. The kind of place that does drag queen bingo. I was right at home. Inside was college sport bar, but with a nice, huge board on the wall of all their beer selection. It Was quite expansive. Service was top notch, too. Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. I insist you order this. Overall, my research did not reveal Beer Kitchen to me, locals recommendation did. Shows that you gotta use your street smarts instead of your book smarts sometimes. Best meal I had in Kansas City.

Order food from Mission Taco next door or bring it in from any of your favorite establishments. They even have a medium private event area you can reserve for minimal to no fee. It has two TVs, you can set up the area however you like, bring in your own food, and they will provide you with a server. It's awesome. My friend had a party there and my work hosted a happy hour there - both were great successes. And in nice weather they open up their garage door walls for an indoor/outdoor vibe. They have tons and tons of beers, along with a few couple wines and cocktails too. ITap is actually where I learned to like beer because the servers are extremely knowledgeable and allow you to taste different beers to figure out what you like. Plenty of parking between the street and the lot behind iTap (as long as there isn't a Grinders concert going on).

When the weather is nice, they have their garage doors open! The bartenders are super friendly and welcoming. They always have a great assortment of beers, and I have yet to be disappointed by one. There's always something interesting going on -- like right now they have a peanut butter and jelly seltzer!! You can build your own flight for $20, or you can do their daily variety flight for $15. You can order food from Burn Theory via a QR code on your table, and it is delivered right to you! There is a small parking lot that they share with Double Tap next door, but typically you can find street parking right on Oak St. They are huge soccer fans here! They're always open at weird hours to show soccer games!

Our bartender explained the different crafts on tap and even gave us a couple of samples to try. I ended up going with the "Mai Savior" - a Maibock (German) beer. Brewed for May 1st or "Bock Day", it has notes of malty honey with a slight caramel finish, and a 7.7% ABV. It was refreshing and very good! There are plenty of tv screens mounted throughout the building and with plenty of World Cup matches being played in different venues, it was easy to watch the different group play that was going on. And lo and behold in the corner there were 3 pinball machines! (I was really loving this place by now.) We had a great time playing them. Then, at the other end in the corner was a place where one can order pizza - which I can attest to it being very, very good. They have a covered outside seating area too that's pet friendly so feel free to bring your favorite K9 companion. What a great place! The beer was excellent, and the food itself was amazing, but the entirely phone-based ordering system was a headache. We had connectivity issues, so the menu wouldn't fully load, leaving us guessing without descriptions or pictures. The star of the show though is the Fish n Chips. This is now THE BEST I've had in KC. I can't wait to come back and have more of these beers and more fish n chips! The atmosphere is amazing! I was here for a few hours to meet up with some KC Yelpers and during that time, I enjoyed a couple of beers, a few bites and a wonderful welcoming staff. I was trying to stay on my keto diet so I enjoyed a delicious bowl of their curry cauliflower. Plenty of it and quite tasty. Followed by two pickled eggs. Not deviled eggs, these were quite firm and tasty, topped with a sriracha drizzle that really brought out the egg flavor. With them, two tasty lighter beers. Not much more than that as I still had to drive tonight, though I consumed this over three hours. There is street parking in the area, both free if you can find it and paid if you can not. The nearest streetcar stop is the Crossroads, so it's only a couple of blocks to walk, eezy peezy. Service is friendly and timely, you can cheer for the locals or whatever else might be on a screen at that time, and enjoy one of dozens of self-service taps. Get a beer card from the bar or your server, grab a glass from the rack to the left of the taps, put your card on the reader, pull the tap, and ZAM! Bob's your uncle. Pull for just a pint or sample up & down the line and just know you're paying by the ounce. What's not to like? Taps on Main has a strong wing game and they're serious about keeping it that way. There are almost a dozen sauces or rubs that you can get, and order your wings by 10 or 20. I'm one for sweet heat, so the Korean Gochujang is my target. Wings are sauced nicely, not smothered, and a basket of 10 wings is gracious plenty for a 'serving'. Pick a dipper if you need one, or add a buck for more than one, but the wings are very well executed and arguably should be talked about more in KC wing convos.
