Fabulous knowledgeable creative instructors make every session a fun healthy workout!

I first heard about Mauro Pilates by browsing through Bettysport's calendar and noticing they offered free 'Bi-lates' on Tues and Thurs mornings offered by Liana. I finally got the will power to wake up early and get in a morning workout before heading off to work. I remember my abs being sore for a week after attending class twice that week. I have tried barre, running, p90x, & other various workout dvds, but nothing came close to toning my full body in that short amount of time like pilates did. I lost one dress size in a month just by attending class twice a week. I just love that my clothes are fitting the way they're supposed to. No more sucking it in or doing lunges just to get my jeans up past my thighs and zipped up. I can finally say bye-bye to my mini muffin top and I have never been happier. Liana is great at creating and modifying workouts to fit your needs, goals, and skill level. Don't think that you will get bored after a few weeks like with most workout routines. She will have new workouts to show you in no time so always expect a different challenge every time you attend class. I am not the most flexible person in the world, but Liana helps modify the moves for me so that I am in a comfortable position and not straining my lower back. She also corrects your body position/alignment if you are slightly off so that you are getting the full benefits of the workout. I am a firm believer that your results will depend on the amount of effort and time spent on exercising. One of the first things Liana told me when I walked in was 'I like high reps.' I smiled and thought to myself, 'This is going to get interesting.' Finally, someone who will challenge me and motivate to push me harder. I have been doing Pilates for one year at Mauro Pilates and I cannot say enough good things about my experience and results! I have struggled in the past with finding exercise that is fun, effective, AND makes my body feel good. Pilates combines these aspects beautifully. I love that my sessions challenge me (I love a good workout!) but also leave me feeling renewed. I have grown physically stronger and fitter. I am more flexible and less achy and stiff. I am more in-tune with my body and have more awareness of my posture in day to day activities. It's been so great to make progress and feel encouraged along the way by the amazing staff. Just had my first session with Mauro Pilates which was awesome and quietly intense. You would never guess that you can feel sore and worked up while laying on a reformer. You're on your back, listening to the springs stretch and recoil, talking casually, and then you realize you're breathing hard and sweating and feeling the burn. I've always been intimidated by the reformer machines. Just the name is pretty daunting. But Liana Mauro showed me that you can ride those bad boys to a firmer and toner body (eventually, though I am always hoping for a 1-hit miracle). And despite having to have people's feet and legs flying by her face on a regular basis, Liana was very friendly and accommodating. She did a great job making sure I was working out in good form but still comfortable. She also mentioned she teaches classes at Betty Sport, I definitely want to check those out as well! read more

Really like working out here. The owner is lovely and knowledgable as are each of the instructors. Classes, semi-private and private instruction are all first-rate and challenging. The space is so pleasant: natural lighting and just big enough. Very clean. I've had several people tell me this is the best Pilates studio in Austin. So grateful I started at the top! This was my first time doing Pilates and I was a little bit intimidated. The machines look a little bit daunting, but Liana made me feel right at home. The space in is inside a physical therapy studio in a pretty location off of Bee Caves Road. Nice, clean and painted a cheery yellow. The machines aren't painful at all. In fact, I have never been so comfortable preforming squats and lunges all while laying down (which surprised me). The workout was comfortable but challenging (I was sweating). Now that I have tried Pilates I feel like everyone should try it and not be scared. Liana was so kind and knowledgeable. It is nice to work out and still have a good time. read more

Liana is a great pilates instructor. She is challenging without being condescending, and when I'm able to take her classes regularly (it's a little hard for me with an inconsistent work schedule) I feel stronger in my every day life, and working out each week becomes easier. Her sessions are always "mixing it up" and you don't do the same exercises over and over. I'm a big fan of Liana and how she does her job. read more

This adorable Pilates studio is tucked in the back of a rehabilitation practice. My fiance and I had such a great time with our instructor. The private lesson was full of patient instruction (we're both new to Pilates) and helpful alignment cues. Our instructor was energetic and passionate about Pilates. She even helped us design some exercises we could do between sessions. And... oh man, did we get a great work out. Such delicious core work. Wow. The equipment is totally beautiful. I have been going to Mauro Pilates for about a year and a half. I have never found a better exercise than Pilates and the wonderful staff at Mauro Pilates have been patient, supportive and responsive. I started out trying to rehab a frozen shoulder that was very painful. All the instructors modified the exercises for me and as I healed they helped me continue to strengthen my shoulder. I am close to sixty years old and was really looking for something that would improve my strength, balance and coordination without hurting myself. I have been going 4 times weekly since August of this year. I have had the opportunity to work with all instructors. All are sensitive, educated, therapeutically-minded & professional. Also, the equipment is all Stott, which is like working out on a Cadillac. The atmosphere is peaceful; the premises are clean and well-lit. I cannot recommend this studio highly enough and would not go anywhere else in Austin. read more

I've been taking classes/private sessions at Mauro Pilates for about 10 months. I was recommended to take Pilates for therapeutic reasons, by the Mayo Clinic, after being evaluated for surgical solutions to cervical injuries resulting in drastically reduced range of motion and constant pain. After just a few months I was pain free and back to participating in normal activities. Liana and her select staff are remarkably better at providing a challenging, effective, session, with expert queuing, and a balanced attention to form, rehab, mobility, and exercise. I tried the happy-hour class at Mauro Pilates with a friend of mine. It was a weekday, and was just the two of us. Mauro Pilates is my favorite pilates studio in Austin. It's bright and clean, their equipment is really high quality, the trainers are knowledgeable and friendly. I feel super strong and toned after Pilates classes and I swear I've grown 2 inches just from improving my posture and core stability! I really enjoy the traditional pilates workouts because they are so focused on form. It's almost meditative for me to really tune in to each movement and muscle. read more

Mauro Pilates is the absolute best studio on a number of levels. I have a herniated disk that has troubled me for years and it was progressively getting worse. For years I avoided doing core exercises because they would aggravate my back and left me hobbled in pain. Naturally, avoiding core exercises only made my situation worse. A therapist I was seeing recommended that I try Mauro Pilates as he had trained much of the staff on the proper way to handle patient injuries like mine. I began by taking private lessons and after a few months I had progressed enough to join the group classes. Fast forward six months and I'm stronger and more fit than I've been in years! I lost weight, strengthened my core, and best of all my back is better than it's ever been! What is even more remarkable is the staff that works at Mauro Pilates.
