    I've been going here for years. Eva is co owner with her husband and she is amazing. I've had a few of the other ladies there and all did a wonderful job. It's clean and everyone is very nice. Both pics were from this week

    I was not ready for fire season in Sonoma County. As if the pandemic was not enough, once we were finally able to go be outside, now there is ash in the air and it's uncomfortable / not really safe to be breathing for a long period of time. I still wanted to make sure that I was complying with precautions when I made my appointment for pedicure here and they said that they had the capacity and the ability to accommodate me so I made my appointment. When I arrived, it was odd because they met people at the door with the blinds drawn and the door locked. A lady arrived for a manicure, knocked on the door, they pulled the blinds open, unlocked the door, let her in, put the blinds back down, and relocked the door. My appointment was at 10:00 and I arrived at 9:45 and I assumed that they would just open but that never happened, so the same protocol was done with me. It was just the four of us in the salon when I was there- the lady who arrived before me and her manicurist, and myself with the gentleman doing my pedicure. The guy during my pedicure was very quiet and did not engage me in conversation which was fine by me because I hadn't actually had my tea yet and I was honestly still tired. The pedicure itself was fine, but not great. The massage was very soft and was more like moving lotion around rather than any meaningful pressure. The color I picked for my toes was what I call "ballet pink," and by the time we got to putting on the nail polish, I was so unimpressed by the pedicure, I was not surprised that the polish job was mediocre at best. It was streaky, uneven, missing in spots, and blotchy. I know the business during this time is really hard, I acknowledge that. However, I do think that there are standards that still need to be met. I give my 100% when I'm at work and despite the challenges with the pandemic and the fires, and I hope others do as well when I go to them for their business. This pedicure and the whole experience was definitely not at 100%... I would say it's not even at 40% and because of that I will not be returning to them for business. Prices were fine, ease of scheduling was fine, and parking was conveniently located right in front of the business. That said, those are not strong enough positives for me to be returning when motherhood nails is also in Petaluma a little more South and was a significantly more positive nail experience for an insignificantly higher cost.

    Disappointing service and follow-up care. Initially I asked for ombre nails with dip powder on my natural nails, and I was told that my nails weren't long enough for the look I was after and so I would need tips glued on; no problem. I asked several times for "round" shaped nails, so much so that after initially filing them too pointy, the nail tech took off one of the tips so that she wouldn't cut and file so much. I reiterated that I wanted "short, round nails." Again, no problem up until this point - the girl was friendly and checked in with me a couple times; I specified that the nails still seemed a little long, but that if that was as short as she could go, I understood. It wasn't until I got home that I reviewed my receipt and took a closer look at my nails - arguably my fault for not inspecting sooner so that any issues could be addressed while I was at the salon. I was charged for "shape: coffin, almond, pointy" nails. Odd, I thought, given that my request was for short, round nails. Then, I noticed that my cuticles were still overwhelmingly present on my nail bed, and that the dip had been placed largely on the cuticle on most nails. It had been so long since I'd had my nails done, I didn't even think about the fact that the technician didn't clean my cuticles until after I was home. Additionally, several of my nails were already lifted from the acrylic tip - again, my fault for not noticing when I was at the salon in the first place. I called the next morning, explained the situation and that I was available to come in any time in the morning or any time at all the following day; I was granted an appointment to come back to the salon for a fix that day. When I arrived, the man at the front (who had checked me out at the register the day before) asked what had happened. I showed him my nails and explained that I was concerned about anything getting down into the nails. His solution was for the technician from the day before to flood underneath the tip with superglue to "close the gap." I explained multiple times that, although I understood that would now seal the nail to the acrylic tip, I was concerned about the time between leaving the salon and returning for a fix - I had been home, cooked several meals, changed diapers, played in the yard, been to the gym - there was NO expectation on behalf of the salon that I wash my hands before "sealing" the nails, no alcohol to clean the nails, etc. I said that I didn't want to use superglue because anything that was now in my nails was going to be sealed into place, rather than creating a clean seal in the first place. I was assured that "it's fine," and "there's nothing in there - it's only been a day," after being told that the technician, "told you yesterday she needed to cut your nails shorter and you said you didn't want to." Not only was this untrue, (after I asked for dip on my natural nails, and they explained I needed the tip glued on for the ombre look, I kept my mouth shut except for asking for the nails to be cut shorter, as I'm not a nail tech and do what most people do at the salon which is sit there quietly while the technician does what they need to do,) it was unprofessional. While I acknowledge, again, that I should have been paying more attention to the process in the first place, I was extremely disappointed in the "quick fix" that was offered for sub-par work because I don't think it was the appropriate solution.

    I love this place. Eva does an amazing job the Pedicures are really nice. They go a step further for you at no extra charge. What do I mean ? Well the massage is with hot stones, everything is clean and the owners are really nice. They are knew owners FYI but I have know Eva and she has been doing my nails for 8 years.
