I found Skin Techniques through Yelp. Thanks Yelp! Fantastic find. I made a reservation online with Chanel for waxing and a facial. First off, online system is very easy to navigate. Reservation system is efficient and they do send email/ text reminders. The location is easy to find with ample street parking. The space is a lovely converted house with its own spectate entrance and clean restroom. The spa service room is large with lots of natural light. Chanel is friendly, educated, and attentive. We reviewed the services I had booked and got started. She uses soft wax with stripes making the whole waxing process less painful and in my opinion, more efficient. My newly waxed places look great! The facial. Holy moly. (I waited a day to write this review.) My skin looks fabulous. GLOWING. She was able to remove 2 years of congestion from my face. It was a wonderful and positive experience. I never had a brazilian wax before and was super nervous about it but she made me feel comfortable and was super patient with me. Chanel's service is top tier and she always tries her best to accommodate my schedule. On top of that, she's very knowledgeable about how to care for your skin and always gives out great product recommendations/advice. It's very difficult to find people who will do male Brazilians, so I was pleased when Chanel told me she does them while I was getting a facial (which was great by the way). I went to a couple other people to get waxed, and while they both had lots of experience and were great, after coming into Skin Techniques it's obvious that Chanel is simply a cut above the rest. She has tons of experience and a great portfolio. She's very professional, uses high quality products, and very clearly knows exactly what she's doing. The waxing was less painful than at the other places I went, and she was very thorough. She even went back over and plucked individual hairs that didn't get picked up by the wax, whereas other places kind of just laughed and said that it happens sometimes. She also did a great job making me feel relaxed for something that is frankly pretty embarrassing, and on top of that gave me some amazing skincare product suggestions that weren't at all expensive, or even exclusively sold at this studio! It's clear she knows a lot about skincare, and really cares about her clients getting the best care and products possible over just selling them the most expensive products she can to make a quick buck. I'm not one for self care when it comes to my skin. I do a little at best so I'm not dry. I got eczema. THE WORST and it is not curable. I will spare you the gory details but it seriously nasty, bloody, and painful. I went to Ray more inflamed than the towering inferno. By the time she was done, I felt great relief, my face was much cooler and happier and upon second treatment I was renewed. I have more treatments to do with her as my face took a deep toll. Terese knows how to beat back time. I found Skin Techniques through Yelp in 2013, at her former address (where there are more Yelp reviews). Thanks to Terese Eastman's methods, I look better in 2017 than 4 years ago. Feeling pampered is not something that matters a lot to me: I go for visible results--which Terese knows how to create. She has sophisticated treatments and she stays right on top of what's possible without surgery. I have found that I enjoy the lovely pampering, the great massage, and getting to know Terese for the wonderful person she is--all this is a big plus. But the key moment is looking in the mirror when I get home. Twice Terese has gently persisted to get me to see a dermatologist about a new skin bump. The first time, the doctor observed she made a good call (and biopsy came back normal). Second time a different doctor was doubtful a bump needed to be checked, but I emphasized "my esthetician's concerns" so he agreed to a biopsy...which did turn out to be a small cancer.
